Aw thank you Joyce! I am reading tonight! I always read your missives hot off the press!! Currently I am writing postcards to women voters in Georgia from a list via Fieldteam6.org woohoo! Go postcarders!😍
I just finished another go-round of post cards for Fieldtem6.org too. The second batch was to women Georgia voters! I finally feel like I am DOING SOMETHING. I’m going to look in to Boters Works, as well. So glad to be involved!!
Sitting here tonight writing postcards to voters. Tonight I’m writing for Democrat Curtis Hertel in Michigan. Writing postcards from the very deep red state of Alabama keeps me sane. A strong group of progressive women join me each Tuesday morning and Wednesday evening to write postcards. We all understand the assignment. #doingsomething
Anne!! I’m also a blue dot in the deep red of Alabama!!! And I would love to help!! Send me your groups name - otherwise there are a lot of other ideas in Joyce’s letter I’ll reach out to. It’s just so great to hear that there are others around our beautiful state that are NOT wearing ugly Maga hats lol!!!!
I started writing post cards for the Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff campaigns and just kept going. The current batch is for Sherrod Brown's senate campaign in Ohio through Postcards to Voters. And I have 400 cards ready to send to Arizona voters on October 15 through Postcards to Swing States. It gives me a feeling of participation and accomplishment.
My law firm has devoted several sessions to writing non-partisan letters urging Pennsylvanians to vote. At home, I've been writing via Tony the Democrat's website, which sends postcards to all kinds of races, from County Commissioner to state rep to Congress, in many swing states (but not exclusively swing states). It's very easy to get 10 addresses for a campaign and write them in the evening!
I write with Tony the Democrat as well. Along with friends from my Indivisible Citizens Activists group. We have been writing since 2017, you know what started that!.
Great advice Joyce. I wrote postcards in 2008, 2016 and 2020. We targeted PA. We pay for the cards and stamps. We started at 50 each and in 2020 did 200 total. Even if we helped 20 voters, it is domino effect.
I started writing postcards to voters this year due to a mention in one of your earlier columns. I just wrote my 325th postcard today. Thank you! It feels so much better to be able to help even in the smallest way.
I’m finishing up 100 postcards in my little town in Southern California. I also held a house party for a candidate who if elected will be the first transgender woman in our state senate. I had a great turn out and connected like minded people in my very red town who appreciated knowing there were more progressive people and candidates than they thought. Face to face conversations are really how elections are won!
Thank you Joyce for all the great information and encouragement to keep fighting for our beautiful country!
Hi Joyce! I have 150 more postcards to write - they are going into the mailbox on October 24th. I write postcards for every election, be it presidential or down ballot. This time I’m writing to Florida, since I live in a reliably blue state. I can’t knock on doors and I don’t like making phone calls … postcards have been my thing for years! I’m also a knitter! I’ve been knitting for close to 60 years! I’ve made blankets for each of my 7 grandchildren and I’m now starting a sweater for one of my granddaughters for the holidays. Isn’t it the best use of your spare time?!? I’ve been a subscriber to your Substack for a long time … thanks for your great contributions to my understanding of the legal world. You make me feel like we are in this together!! ❤️
Hi Lorryn, I loved reading your comment. If you’re writing to in-person voters, then 10/24 might be fine. But if you are mailing into a place with early or mail-in voting, you may want to mail your cards earlier. The latest date for mailing in the group I’m writing for is October 15. Just a consideration.
I have to get my (2023!) tax info done this week, but after that, I'm ready to write! The cocktail sounds great, although I think my writing will be better if I drink it after I'm done.
Our gratitude to Joyce for coming on our event. It was an honor and a privilege and a ton of fun to talk about knitting and chickens and postcards and much more. Joyce was lovely and so generous with her time…it’s wonderful to have a “hat twin” and a new friend.
And I love seeing all the comments, keep writing the good write!!
Julie, do you have a pattern you would share for your knitted cap? I'd love to make one! And can out-of-staters join DNWSG? I'm also going to check out the groups in RS Alabama! Thanks! What a great idea that was!
My church in Richmond, VA wrote a few 1000 postcards to infrequent voters over the last couple weeks. It was a fun task when doing it with other members & friends. Even without the tequila, it was a lot of fun!
Joyce, I’ve written 200 postcards and 250 letters, most of which are going to voters in my state: North Carolina!! I feel so good about having accomplished this, and hope and prayer we can deliver the state to Kamala Harris. I second The push to write postcards and letters to swing state voters via “Postcards to Swing States” and “Vote Forward” because he helps up and down the ballot to get folks out this fall!
I’ve been writing postcards for two cycles. Just mailed a bunch and more to be mailed at the end of the week. It is something I can do easily at home and I feel useful.
I’ve been writing postcards with a wonderful group of mostly ladies from Waxhaw, NC! I even brought some home and got my husband involved. I hope we get 100 voters to the polls who didn’t vote last time.

Me too! Doesn’t it feel good imagining you may have been part of the success of that duo?
Oh, yes!
Thank you so much for your service!!!!

I’ve been writing postcards up & down the ballot & even outside of Arizona. We need to do something every moment & can rest after November 5th
We wrote postcards this weekend. A great time was had by all. Will keep writing!
I have to get my (2023!) tax info done this week, but after that, I'm ready to write! The cocktail sounds great, although I think my writing will be better if I drink it after I'm done.
LOL, Miriam!

I have every reason to believe that North Carolina is going to go blue this time around! And that is all thanks to people like you!
I like your confidence and share it. Blue wave in NC!
