Professor, with all due respect, you are flogging a horse that is not only dead, but has been butchered, grilled and served. The GOP Senators will not lift a finger to disturb der Fuhrer. It is 1933 in America, and Trump is going to do whatever he wants without opposition. I pray it does not end as did the Third Reich, with War and Holocaust, but if you really believe that the MAGAts and few remaining GOP Senators are going to stand in the way of their beloved leader, I fear you are calamitously wrong. I recommend historian Peter Fritzsche’s HITLERS FIRST HUNDRED DAYS for a view of what an unbridled and unopposed fascist megalomaniac can do. One could lift whole paragraphs out of the book, blank out the names, and ask reasonably if he were describing Hitler or Trump………………

Susan, I spent four years of the first Trump presidency contacting my senators and representative. They are Ted Cruz, John Cornyn and John Carter - all Maga Republicans who specialize in performative outrage. In the last eight years I have called various senators and representatives to voice concerns and urge actions. I have sent so many contact emails to President Biden, I may be on a watch list. When Nancy Pelosi was House Speaker her office said I should contact my representative, not her. Retired Generals, former staff, economists, veterans, former Republicans and more spoke out against Trump and said what a danger he was. I donated, I spoke to people and I voted. And despite all of these efforts Trump won. And he won because in 2024 Kamala got 8 million less votes than Biden did in 2020. Eight million voters, mostly Democrats, sat home. That is a fact and my anger is toward these people. Call away, but it is not going to change anything. The Dems may protest, but they're in the minority. Republicans will do whatever Trump wants them to do.

Also worth reading is the Nov 13th public letter by Duncan Buell and others stating they believe there is a possibility of hacking and calling for hand-recounts.

https://freespeechforpeople.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/letter-to-vp-harris-111324.pdf

These are serious people. Their opening statement asks for Harris to call for "targeted recounts" in selected states.

Without a credible, independent investigation, doubts about the 2024 will linger for years.

"We write to alert you to serious election security breaches that have

threatened the security and integrity of the 2024 elections, and to identify ways to ensure that the will of the voters is reflected and that voters should have confidence in the result. The most effective manner of doing so is through targeted recounts requested by the candidate. In the light of the breaches we ask that you formally request hand recounts in at least the states of Michigan, Nevada, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania. We have no evidence that the outcomes of the elections in those states were actually compromised as a result of the security breaches, and we are not suggesting that they were. But binding risk-limiting audits (RLAs) or hand recounts should be routine for all elections, especially when the stakes are high and the results are close. We believe that, under the current circumstances when massive software breaches are known and documented, recounts are necessary and appropriate to remove all potential doubt and to set an example for security best practices in all elections."

Bob, I think you are right on this one. It seems really kind of weird that Trump and Kump suddenly had no complaints about this election when they fell over backwards to whine and complain about the last two, even the one Trump won by electoral college. Something is going on and it is a good idea to find out what that something is. Maybe I and others are blaming the wrong people for the Harris loss along with so many senators and house members. In PA, there is a recount for senate, but I think they should be checking all the other elections too. It may take some time, but we would know. Counting by hand and machine in the recount is critical to see if there are differences. Then, if there are, we need to decide what to do about it. If there are none, then we are stuck with the a-hole we now have as president-elect with all his fascist friends.

this article certainly answers questions that I have had. Is this information being widely shared, especially with people like Mark Elias?

Expand full comment

It isn’t a conspiracy theory to ask for hand recounts of paper ballots. Some states automatically do recounts if the election is very close. If there are anomalies and discrepancies, they can be understood by doing recounts of paper ballots. If it was done in 2020, it can be done now.

Expand full comment

To be quite certain of the recount, it's best if most ballots are marked *by hand.*

We need BMDs (ballot marking devices) in each polling place for voters who cannot mark their paper ballots by hand. Per HAVA (the Help America Vote Act).

Expand full comment

There were 600,000 bullet ballots in only the swing states. The other states had far fewer; a dramatic discrepancy.

Expand full comment

Thanks, Stan!

If Spoonamore’s statistics about 2024 in swing states are correct, “bullet votes” or “ghost votes” are a very big deal. I haven’t seen much about this so far.

In previous elections, some few people voted for President/VP and nothing else on the ballot. Since 1980 this is typically no more than 1%. This was true in 2016 and 2020, with Trump on the ballot.

In 2024 in the 43 Non-Swing states, bullet ballots are the usual about 1%. In the seven Swing states the numbers are so high as to be unbelievable, unprecedented and demanding of further investigation. Here is analysis from totals as of late Nov. 12th

AZ - 123K+ 7.2%+ of Trump’s total vote. Enough to reverse the outcome.

NV - 43K+ 5.5%+ of Trump’s total vote. Enough to exceed recount threshold.

It is (Spoonamore’s) belief these two states have illegally added votes.

For comparison, examine Trump’s 2024 results in three states which border AZ and NV. They have equally passionate Trump supporters, but have the normal levels of drop off or bullet ballots.

ID <2K 0.03% of Trump’s total.

OR <4K 0.05% of Trump’s total

UT <1K 0.01% of Trump’s total.

In the case of Idaho and Utah, Mr. Trump was a run-away winner and had no need to add votes. In the case of Oregon, Ms. Harris was a run-away winner and adding votes to Trump’s total would add risk without adding value.

The same pattern of large numbers of drop-off votes or bullet ballots exists in the totals of MI, NC, PA, WI.

North Carolina is the most extreme. The public results indicate over 350K voters cast a ballot for Trump and no other race making up over 11% of Trump’s voters in NC drop off votes or bullet ballots.

Eleven percent? And North Carolina just elected a Democratic governor, Josh Stein.

Further in Spoonamore’s letter he points out that complicated, sneaky things can be done electronically. (For instance, the simultaneously exploding pagers incident in Lebanon a few weeks ago, set up in advance to function normally until activated.) He gives possible ways to add Trump votes.

I think the FBI, etc., should investigate because of large numbers of bullet votes and where they occurred and who was advantaged by them. A hand recount should answer lots of questions. Do it before certification deadlines! We Democrats love to show we don’t deal in conspiracy theories, like dumb Trump voters. Trump’s advisors count on this.

Republicans care only for power and how they can wield it and who they can hurt while doing it. Right now, it is immigrants and trans people, but it will expand since the whole bunch is racist, misogynistic, xenophobic and more just like their fearful, toddler-man leader. It's a whole bunch of men and a few women who never had to grow up and so still act as 3-year-olds in a dysfunctional family who rule the house with no concern for anyone else because that's what many 3-year-olds are like. All of the current crop of Trumpers and Trumpettes are born to wealth and got into the "best" schools and have been promoted through society as though that means anything. Some were briefly in the military, but clearly learned nothing positive from their experience there. They did learn that if you're white you can get a lot of privileges soldiers, sailors, and marines of color and women don't get, ala Vance. I don't know how we can manage this if we can at all. I don't want to stop fighting because there are a lot of good people who will be hurt or killed due to Trump and Kump's appalling actions. It's amazing to me that Democrats just couldn't get off their asses and vote, even if Harris wasn't for them the perfect candidate. Trump is surely not the perfect candidate in ways we will be learning as time passes. I never thought I would live to see the downfall of this nation, but here it is and Democrats let it happen. Republicans caused it through their ignorance and unwillingness to know who Trump really is, but Dems wanted perfection and thought they would teach everyone what they could do to this nation if they didn't get what they wanted. Nancy, your concerns are mine except that I have nieces and nephews and not children and grands. We have been fighting for the rights of all people for a few generations now and we seem to be moving backward to some nebulous time when only rich white men had any power and women and people of color were just extras in their movie of life, around to be used and abused at will. How any of us survived under such disgusting rich white male rule is remarkable which means we must all be pretty tough and rich men are just the whiny toddlers we kept supporting because they were so pathetic. Maybe we all need to stop supporting them and stand against them en masse rather than fighting sister against sister, race against race, straight against LGBTQ+. Those rich white men love it when we act as though they are smarter and better than any of us when the reality is, they're not. Let's stop propping them up all the time, voting for them when the woman running against them is far superior in every way. They are not great businessmen, but use others to make themselves rich, destroy our environment, then use the money they accumulate to keep the rest of us down as far as they can push us, and somehow, we choose to go. I don't get why, but it is time we stop, think, and make better decisions for ourselves and our children, nieces, nephews, and the children of the world. Let's pool our talents, gifts, resources, caring, love, and more to stop the insanity and work to make the world a better place where rich white toddler-men are just some among the many, not in charge of anything by themselves. We could do this if we have the will and the determination. Heck, we survived millennia of intense bullying and now it is time to say "enough! We're sick of your white male bullying." Then we have to step up to do what we can to make things better.

We CAN first fight by demanding a HAND RECOUNT!

A data scientist, Stephen Spoonamore, strongly suspects a hack took place during the 2024 election.

He speaks of tremendous numbers of “bullet votes” for Trump, occurring in just the swing states. A bullet vote is where there is only one selection made out of the entire ballot.

For example in Arizona and Nevada, 5% and 7% of the ballots were people who only voted for Trump.

He explains how easily it could occur particularly with the ability of Starlink, headed by Elon Musk. He also explains that a hand recount would clear this up.

Mr. Spoonamore is imploring Kamila Harris to request a HAND RECOUNT as only she can do. He states that a hand recount of the swing states will determine the correct number of votes for the 2024 presidential election.

People interested in pushing for Harris to have a hand recount should contact her at the White House

Agreed. Unfortunately, I think my “blue” state (and I supported it too) fell into the trap of thinking Kamala Harris would be elected and “we” voted to continue with two democratic senators when had we “hedged our bets” and put Larry Hogan in the senate instead, we may (just may, mind you) have had a Republican senator who wouldn’t immediate cave to Trump’s demands. I’m happy to contact my senators, but I don’t know how much that will help. I’m also willing to contact my representative, and I know that’s useless, he’s “the wrong Harris” and a Trump sycophant who tried to take a gun to the capitol! Yes. I totally agree. They do not understand that by helping to destroy the US they destroy their own power too. I went to school with Peter Fritzsche by the way. He was one of 4 kids, and they lived 2 blocks down from us. He is at Urbana as far as I know.

Goebbels would be the one to tell the German people they had to tighten their belts for the good of their country, and claim that they were winning the war. This was supposed to make their sacrifices worthwhile. This is what Putin is telling his people too. All of these leaders amass untold wealth in the meantime. Here Musk and Ramaswamy are telling us that it will hurt first, trying to buy time so that people accept the awfulness until it is too late and they realize this is just how it is going to be.

Given that the Intelligence Community leadership just resigned, and rightfully so, because Project 2025 tells us how badly the people who replace them as loyalists will be treated with constant switching to different departments, and locations. That is a way to destroy an agency lickety split. https://open.substack.com/pub/spytalk/p/breaking-top-intelligence-igs-resign?r=f0qfn&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&comments=true

Same with the DOD. Waiting to see what they will do. They have become the most important equation in this. The criminals and terrorists of the world are waiting too, and planning, because they see opportunity right now. They can attack our bases, our embassies, and perhaps continue planning terror acts in the US because no one is minding the shop. Other intelligence agencies are not going to be sharing info with us, and may never do so again, because the way we set up our society, we have too many gullible people. Still, I take heart in the fact that as the vote continues to be counted, Trump has already gotten less than 50% of the eligible voters, and another 93 million did not vote, so 1/3 or less of the eligible votes is not a mandate. https://roberthubbell.substack.com/p/dont-fall-for-the-red-mirage

Given this reality we should also understand that many people were duped. I read AOC say that her voters said, "he isn't really going to deport us?" She asked where they get their info and they said from her. So she know that means they listened to Donald Trump too. That is what I am saying after hearing my 23-year-old nephew tell me DTs talking points, like he said he was not for national abortion. Well, AOC says her people thought he was only going to deport the criminals, and now they wish they had not voted for him. Hind sight is 20-20 though.

I see the MAGAs who are Christian Nationalists for the most part think that they will destroy the US, please God, and HE will come and take them to heaven. That is the old school CNs, the new Charismatic Christians who are New Apostolic Reformation believers, they need to push the misery of God's Will on everyone to have HIM come and take them to heaven, so they will be happy about the implosion, especially since all of the CNs believe the suffering of others is good for them. So take away the food, shelter, medicine from the poor and low income and make everyone pay through the teeth for those things and consider themselves lucky. Businesses are in a wait and see mode, but it doesn't look good. They say companies may leave because no one likes an unstable business climate, except Musk, and Ramaswamy and Trump, and their MAGA followers.

Here Andrea Pitzer, expert on concentration camps here and abroad is telling us what to expect and what one can do. https://substack.com/home/post/p-151702504

However, when Trump makes Russia and China the Superpowers by destroying our military, economy, Intelligence community, and people, what will the USA be? Musk can go to another country and destroy them, and just move around the world doing that. He has even said he is going to go mess with other elections. So the MAGAs, by following DT who will possibly be replaced by JDV, will destroy themselves and lose their power.

Expand full comment

Somehow I didn't know about the "phantom" campaign ads that Snyder wrote about - ads that appeared to be Harris campaign ads, targeted at Democrats, touting policies that are popular with Democrats - except for a (false) policy statement at the end of the list that is designed to give the voters pause and ultimately prompt them to stay home. Of course I knew the MAGAts and Putin's trolls were lying about her, but I didn't realize they were doing it in ads that looked like her own ads.

Expand full comment

Yes. It is awful. Musk and Putin have been in regular talks throughout the election campaign. Putin is a master of spycraft and espionage. I have been worried the whole election because during covid I attended a conference on disinformation destroying democracy, and there were democratic politicians there, who never seemed to take the understandings and make them into practice.

Remember the Russian sleeper agents living in the US and all over the world for that matter. He has been part of playing the long game, and Trump is about to hand him a destroyed US on a platter, just like Hitler destroyed Germany, although he did not do that for Stalin. Trump is doing it for his own revenge, the fact that his children and grandchildren live here does not seem to matter and they don't seem to recognize that their dad is destroying their country. The Fall of the US Empire is what I call this. While you can say the US should not be an empire, that is still not going to help the people who suffer under his policies.

I saw Russian disinformation which the NYT and WaPo helped to amplify, and I can imagine that Trump could have gotten the Biden is too old talking point from Putin. The media amplified it, and I watched everyone around me get brainwashed about it. Can you imagine if they had said, Warren Buffett is too old, since he is more than 10 years older than Biden, but they did not. So, everyone still listens to every word he speaks and every action he does as he is in his mid 90s.

There were so many things I saw as possible Russian disinformation and I can say the same here in Germany where I am currently living. Musk has threatened to do to other elections what he did to the US. So, we shall see.

Linda, the fascist dark ages. I’m in the midst of reading about Bonhoeffer not realizing that there have been movies and another on the way. I’ve read alot on the Nazi Holocaust; now I’ve happened to meet a Jewish woman visiting here from Vienna, who says that anti semitism in Austria has risen ‘800 %!’. Her parents were both survivors, her mother Auschwitz, her father’s labor camp. She grew up w of course traumatized parents. If only we had allowed the Jewish people into the US so many lives could have been saved, but the USA turned them away.

So did Churchill. No one accepted them. You know what came next: extermination. I feel We owe them!!

I feel similarly about many immigrants particularly those recently from Brazil who are here, and super wonders.

WE ARE ALL IMMIGRANTS except the native Americans whom we mistreated.

Yes only your first sentence. The rest gives anxiety. We need to keep folks from having to tune out because they are so scared. That said we should neither be in denial about the possibilities.

Expand full comment

I understand that some people freeze or avoid when they are scared. I guess we all have our ways of coping. Mine is often to read, read, read and understand the situation and then make a plan for action. Getting into community is recommended. That is in person community. Ones with people where you feel you can work on problems together. I am seeing this time for us as Ukraine was 2 months before Putin marched in. What would the people there like to have prepared if they had known.

On German news I was watching that on the 1000th day of this war on Ukraine by Russia, almost 1 million people have died with 600,000 of them being Russian and about 300,000 being Ukrainian. Most are military and some civilians. Many are wounded as well. About 6 million Ukrainians have left Ukraine, and something like 3 million are displaced internally. That is in a country that used to have around 45 million people. Their energy infrastructure is 1/3 of what it was before the war thanks to Trump's buddy Putin. Each day it will costs billions more to repair the country's infrastructure, but you cannot repair the people.

Covid has taken its toll on us as a nation. I feel that it led to people retreating ever more into technology. There is endless material and a lot of it is bad. We need to figure our way out of this, and come together around whatever Trump is going to do. Americans have reasons to be scared in the US, and people in other countries have reasons to be scared as well. Scandinavian countries are getting their populations ready for war. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cjr4zwj2lgdo

I recommend looking at the brochure for Sweden because it is in English. This is the sort of thing people are doing to be prepared in countries where they feel that the dangers will come from outside forces not their own people. In the USA, that is not the case. The enemy will be within and in the White House. Prepare for that.

Joyce, have you seen this letter that cybersecurity expert Stephen Spoonamore sent to Kamala Harris?

https://substack.com/home/post/p-151721941

Expand full comment

Is this legit ? How can you have ballots with nothing down ballot ?

Expand full comment

It refers to voters who only filled in the one line and didn’t bother with anything below that. But the peculiarity is that there was up to 10 times more of those in the swing states than the others (5% compared to 0.5%). Spoonamore has experience with IT that tells him how easily that can be done. Not by the people at the voting sites, but in the software.

So why is this not front page news, being discussed on every PodCast, and all over “social media”? When Republicans have no evidence of voter fraud, they make the biggest stink in the world. When Dems have a legitimate red flag that would reasonably call for a recount, crickets.
