Another great argument for cameras in federal court. Perhaps more people would understand that this is how it’s routinely done. Judge Kaplan treated this defendant like every other defendant. Trump’s worst nightmare is to be treated like everyone else. Looking forward to closing arguments and a hefty punitive award.

We should take whatever legal measures available to pressure the courts to have Trump’s trials on camera for ALL citizens to see and hear. Perhaps there should also be some ruling to prevent the tapes from being edited by mischief makers - looking at you Fox & Friends.

Keeping in mind that Inmate P01135809 has lost many cases over the years only to drag them out as long as possible, often to the point the plaintiffs settle for far less than they initially had coming to them... Because real people have bills to pay...

I myself would be very interested in how he operates his various things and pays the bills to keep the lights on... You don't pay the Electric Bill and they just disconnect your A**... No court litigation involved... I think it could be both interesting and informative to know...

So does Scotland. They detest him in Scotland, Ireland, England and France. This is a true story printed in the French newspaper, Le Monde: when he was in France in summer 2018 for the 100 year anniversary of the end of WWI, and during which he snubbed the ceremony 'because of rain' he made it to a ceremony the following day. At this ceremony, he took it upon himself to announce that "America has some very fine wines as well. In fact, they are actually superior to French wines." The French now hate him very much for that and for other reasons, but especially for that. He is just pompous.

Every time he arrives in Scotland (and the other countries) a protest group shows up with a HUGE helium balloon, made in the likeness of Trump. It takes a number of people to hold it from flying off into the sky - looks like 50-100 or maybe they just want to hold it to be part of the protest. It is orange colored, wearing a diaper, hair like Trump's, in a diaper with a cell phone in his hand.

Here's a YouTube - looks like this one was in England. It debuted there first - because he was invited to visit the Queen. The British hated that, and got together with one another to greet him with this balloon. It looks like 200 people in this crowd.

Oh I see, I was sharing how little wealth he actually has and how much much France, England, Scotland and Ireland dislike him - so they bought this orange helium balloon with a likeness of Trump with his cell phone in his hand, wearing diapers and his orange body and his flaming hair… They ship it from country to country when he’s due to show up and then hundreds of them get together and parade hit around. Oh yes, he has ruined himself in Europe, and had the gall to go over there and open a golf course after they had protested him. I guess he just doesn’t know where he isn’t wanted. We keep trying to tell him over and over and over “We. Do. Not. Want. You.” And yet he stays. Imposing himself.

I am sure the judge’s instructions to the jury will be effective. Sarcasm. This judge is all bark and no bite. Only the jury is important and they have not spoken. As I further understand it, the jury was unanimous in the first $5 million judgment, but my question for Joyce in the present case is this: Is a unanimous verdict required or not? If someone has a concrete source for an answer to this question, I’d appreciate it.

Tonight after my Zoom class finished, I took a quick look at The NYTimes and WAPO for their headlines. Trump was in article after article after article, his photos plastered everywhere (yes, just like in 2016). It made me sick. He is behaving as if he is already president! He has his whole MAGA MADNESS MANIACS following his every wish. Forget the border! And aid to Ukraine? How's about this? I read that North Korea's Kim Jong Un will be aiding Putin in his war against Ukraine. How on earth can we allow all this to happen?!? My husband and I have said at times, that Trump has taken a toll on our mental health, and not in a good way. He has worn us down, which is just what he wants. But wait, I'm not going to be worn down for the next months into the Nov. 2024 election. I refuse to give up. The most punitive thing we can do to Trump is fail to make him president again. Every single individual must vote. Every single individual must take it upon him/herself to do more than vote, to spend a few hours a week to help turn this country in the right direction. Complaining and grumbling does no good in preventing Trump from gaining office again. Write letters, write postcards, phone bank, go door to door, join an organization that works to strengthen democracy. Help voters register to vote. Offer to drive your neighbors who cannot take themselves, to vote. Choose one important legislative task and work at it. I'm meeting with some people from The League of Women Voters (which I just joined) to gather signatures for the Abortion Access petition. And if you vote by mail (as we do) please be sure that you are registered for this year's election, please don't assume it's automatic. I believe we can do this. And if we do, Trump will still say he won but he won't be in The White House any longer. I believe we can also regain the House and win more seats in the Senate. Hakeem Jeffries will be our Speaker of the House, not a Jan. 6th denier.

It concerns me that he seems to have broken every rule or ignored every order that he was to comply with and has suffered not the first consequence! He seems to already own the country! Most people who rape are put in prison, but he is allowed to buy his way out. So far, he is above the law.

Expand full comment

Since the initial case was brought in civil not criminal court, we have a judgement instead of jail. I guess the criminal conduct would have been a higher case to prove. Too bad he’s not going behind bars.

Expand full comment

No, it wasn’t a higher case to prove. She was frightened for her life to bring the case during the time of statute of limitations for rape. She testified that she tried to put it out of her mind When she brought the case for civil it was when the ‘me too’ movement had transpired. There a new New York law that provided a window that she could bring the case as civil. She did so in one, but Trump, of course appealed and lost the appeal. He also defamed her, so her attorney came back with this new case after she won to stop him from defaming her because every time he does that she receives death threats. So the jury awarded $5 million in the prior case but after he has continued to defame her, E. Jean’s attorney, Robbie Kaplan, is asking a minimum of $10 million to restore her reputation. She will ask the jury to provide whatever amount will shut him up and of course we know that’s going to be very hard to do no matter the amount awarded.

He will appeal, but he had his day in court. In fact, when the first trial went on, he was in Scotland, avoiding the trial and spent one day, cutting a ribbon for his golf course in Scotland; then he and Eric went to Ireland to go for nine days and he was trying to claim the trial went on without him having a chance to testify… Even when he knew five months in advance that it was scheduled. So the judge delayed the trial after it finished for one whole week for him to come back and testify, but he refused. Now he’s testifying because he knows he’s going to be in line for a sum of money and I’m hoping it’s very large. He ruined her life , and that’s kind of big.

I don’t think we could do a GoFundMe for E. Jean for proper security services for her, such as having 24 hour guards and such. But I’m thinking we could do something splendid if we set up some kind of a swear jar on a website and have people donate a dollar each time he denigrates E. Jean. Can you imagine if just 100,000 got out of our credit card and put a dollar in the swear jar every time we heard him or heard about him doing a truth social comment. What an effect that would have. So, instead of him, not paying, we would, and we would use that on billboards and social media advertising: “Security for eugene is now at $ ——-00 per day. I think we could fund three round the clock, former FBI, black ops, CIA folks (except I heard that CIA folks never leave the company). Just 75,000 of us could fund it. By the way, I don’t think he’s shutting up. I think we can count on ten blatherskite blasts from him. he has no intention of paying anything so he is not going to shut up. He thinks he’s going to be elected and then he is going to have retribution against everyone.

My friend Gloria Horton-Young has suggested on this substack and others that we support E. Jean by joining her substack, whether paid or unpaid - to show support. But so far as finding a way to help her pay for additional security (right now she has an electric wire fence around her property with her pit bull running freely as protection. And she has a gun that her father (now deceased) gave her. What do you think of the idea of a baseball like pool thing that we could sell/purchase the tickets and donate the cash to her? Probably not legal as it is a kind of betting.

Ps L. Leck, E. Jean has DNA evidence on her dress that she saved. That would be sperm. After the statute of limitations expired, he offered to give his DNA. I’m hoping the New York statute of limitations will be changed to that of being able to give the court retroactive DNA. How would he explain his sperm allegedly being on her dress? My big question is if that all happens with the statute of limitations changing, proof of DNA submitted as evidence and the court saying “well, your sperm is on the dress that her ex-husband, friends, and everyone else has known has been in her closet, so does that mean she is telling the truth?”

He will either go completely silent, or he will have some ‘creative’ explanation.
