Thanks Joyce for keeping me abreast of the legal issues.

As for trump, the SOB needs to be in prison.

I'm getting disgusted at the inefficacy of the Justice system.

Why won't someone in Justice step up and take a stand?

Are they all afraid?

If anyone doubts what will happen if trump isn't jailed, read Project 2025.

I used to say Project 2025 scared me. Now, after reading it, I say it terrifies me.

Read it for yourself folks.

Nothing less than the future of our Nation is at stake!

Joyce and #SistersInLaw!!! Please don't miss what I feel is Joyce's main warning:

Re: Trump “knows we're in a war" and "he knows how to win."

And we are the enemy. Timothy Snyder sums up what's coming nicely in his Substack: Thinking About post: The Bloodbath Candidate.

https://open.substack.com/pub/snyder/p/the-bloodbath-candidate?r=5k7fz&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web

Excerpts:

Trump is calling for a bloodbath in front of people who stood to honor bloodshed. People who have just sung with coup criminals. People whom he implicitly promises he will pardon if they carry out another insurrection. And he is doing this in the fascist style of telling a big lie that confers martyrdom upon criminals who try to overthrow a democracy they associated with subhumans.

We should see Trump for what he is: an aspiring fascist who likes, wants, and needs violence.

The more self-restraint Judge Merchan shows, the more provocative, obnoxious and offensive Trump will become in openly baiting and taunting the judge to put him in jail. Trump's end-game is to broadcast, before the election, a photo-shoot of him behind bars, scripting himself as a victim and martyr sacrificing himself to preserve our liberties.

This is pure show-biz and a cheap stunt. While his antics may appeal to his cult followers, as he continues to ratchet them up, they will back-fire and reveal him to be a lot closer to a carnival hawker than a potential leader of the free world.

When will the American people see that this guy, deep-down, is little more than a vaudeville act?

SPEAKING OF MARJORIE TAYLOR GREEN: IS SHE CHANNELING CHAMBERLAIN OR HITLER? She was quoted in the Washington Post today as saying: "Why doesn’t anyone in Washington talk about a peace treaty with Russia?? A deal with Putin promising he will not continue any further invasions." History teaches us about promises from fascist dictators.

In 1938, Hitler discussed his demand that Nazi Germany be permitted to slice off a piece of Czechoslovakia (on the claim that the German minority there was being persecuted, much like Russia's excuse for trying to dismember Ukraine).

Hitler promised that this was "the last territorial demand I have to make in Europe." The appeaser Chamberlain, in response to this promise, reneged on his commitment to defend Czechoslovakia and pressured that country to submit. Soon after Hitler swallowed up the rest of Czechoslovakia, and then followed his attack on Poland and then WW II.

Shouldn't Marjorie have to register as a foreign agent?

Expand full comment

Prime Minister Chamberlain returned from Germany after a meeting with Hitler, saying “ I believe it is peace for our time.” Within a year Hitler had invaded Czechoslovakia & Poland. Putin is promising the same if only he can annex Ukraine.

It is important to see how she is using language here. A ‘deal’ promising no ‘further invasions’. In other words , a MAGA US military backed surrender of EU territories to Putin. This would be a dream come true for global oligarchs like Rupert Murdoch whose support and delivery of Brexit in the UK was specifically motivated to create a political bridgehead from which to break the postwar EU peace project and grab control of their special economic zone.

Trump saying he will only be dictator for a day is similar double talk. It would only take a day to politically and legally normalise a Christo fascist tyranny.

This land and powergrab by far right morbidly wealthy extremists has been unfolding for decades. Where it’s tactics have elided with monopolistic neo liberal capitalist ideology it has been invisible to most pragmatic politicians and academics. In the US, UK & to a lesser extent the UK Commonwealth countries too many have chosen to turn a blind eye to the environmental destruction and human suffering caused by forty years of unchecked gold rush style economic growth for the minority since 1971.

The now many generations of the left behind, the politically (& often literally) homeless, are the grief induced raging mob in both the US & Britain that Murdochian style mass and social media are rabble rousing with the MAGA flag.

We are in the end war of modern capitalism with the few extreme wealthy men ( and one woman now with Taylor Swift having recently become part of the global billionaire aristocracy), who desire complete control of the global human masses and their lands. Whether Trump wins, loses or just dies, that war will not end with him. He is simply its present day celebrity figure head.

Expand full comment

"This land and power grab by far right morbidly wealthy extremists has been unfolding for decades."

Every time I read something like this, the abominable trifecta of Buckley (1976), Bellotti (1979) and Citizens United (2010) come to mind. The "power grab by far right morbidly wealthy extremists" was FACILITATED by this fatally corrupt Supreme Court, and could not have be accomplished without it.

Expand full comment

Love your term 'morbidly wealthy', which I hadn't seen before, but will be adopting if you don't mind.

Expand full comment

Thank you Barbara and you are welcome to adopt it, but I cannot claim it as mine. It is a term the socio- economist Robert Reich has used when writing about the villains of our present Gilded Age 🐈‍⬛

Expand full comment

I take issue only with the date of the takeover wholly in favor of the wealthy.

It was Reagan, in 1981. Perhaps it's a typo as I can't think of what occurred in 1971.

Expand full comment

I can understand why Chamberlain did so much to try to avoid a European war. It had been a scant twenty years since World War One. Can you imagine!

Expand full comment

Here’s what Chamberlain famously said:

“How horrible, fantastic, incredible it is that we should be digging trenches and trying on gas masks here because of a quarrel in a far-away country between people of whom we know nothing.”

The struggle over people “of whom we know nothing” soon overwhelmed the world.”

Leadership is understanding the challenges of your time, not mistaking it for earlier events. And not flinching in the face of fascist challenges.

Expand full comment

Yes of course. However at that point in time Hitler was attempting to annex a part of Czechoslovakia only. No one could know his future intentions. All so similar to today’s Putin-Ukraine desires.

Expand full comment

But since Putin has already indicated that he wants to recreate the old Soviet empire, we know that will include getting the old Soviet ports on the Baltic back. Anyone who doesn't think that after Ukraine, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia & Poland are next needs to Google "The Sudetenland, 1938".

Expand full comment
Apr 8·edited Apr 8

Absolutely KMD, read RIichard Eberle’s fabulous work on the Sudetenland - I think it was published in 1988 or 1989. Behind the scenes today, Steve Bannon has been spending time with Orban to help Russia.

Expand full comment

I don’t think that’s correct about Hitler ‘s intentions in 1938. I think he had earlier described Czechoslovakia as an artificial state, raged against Poland, and argued Germany needed lebensraum to the East. The Soviets certainly warned against st appeasing Hitler at the League of Nations, and sought to activate collective defense against Nazi Germany. Not to mention Hitler’s rage against France and England because of the Versailles terms that ended WW I , imposing a Draconian settlement on Germany. But France and England preferred appeasement.

Too much history compressed here! But everyone e wasn’t surprised Hitlerhad broader ambitions than a piece of Czechoslovakia.

My Mom was the head of Family Planning in a county here in Michigan. Mom would have workshops at our home for the nurses and staff who worked there. One was on abortion and I remember pictures of women who bled out due to back alley abortions or self-induced abortions with coat hangers. Desperate women did desperate things when the law treated reproductive rights as criminal offenses and made abortions illegal.

The current yahoo of Israel is only the contemporary manifestation of self righteousness gone wrong. The US built the Jewish state. We were always proud of it. But it was done as Arabs were ethnically cleansed from their lands. We thought it was OK. Maybe it was and is called collateral damage. But out American Jewish lobby paid handsomely for their efforts by giving Israelis a green light to do whatever it has wanted and any criticism was met with being antisemitic.

The reality is that a real honest to goodness 2-state solution was and is the only option but not one in which the West Bank is not butchered into pieces. But when you have ultra orthodox clans turning their women into baby factories and the once minority slowly becomes a force to be reckoned with, the seeds are sown for continued war, murder, suffering mostly at the hands of the Jewish State that now behaves as their precursors did onto them in the last century. Do unto others as what has been done onto you. This pretty much sums up human history.

She says it's quicker so you see a finished product faster, which sounds like it might suit me better. Probably shouldn't start with a chicken but hey that's what is drawing me so why not! Check your local library too as they often have knitting/reading groups in my neck of the woods. (I also want to learn to spin, but that's another story entirely...)

PS: I did manage to do a hat once, in an afternoon, on a bet with good teacher. But it takes a lot to create any kind of muscle memory for it.
