Thank you for the update; it clarified several points for me. Net is, even though we seem like it’s glacial progress in holding that man accountable for all of his sleaze, it is progress nevertheless. And I must say I’m looking forward to the televised trial(s), and your continued clarifications and explanations. Thank you!

We on this list are all looking forward to Georgia trial of The Racketeer in Chief but that won’t be for some time. But after this civil trial finishes in a month’s time ,

Trump will be out of business and “broke”. He might have to sell the plane. But most importantly Trump has finally been revealed for all the world to know that he never was a self made billionaire. In fact he inherited all his wealth from daddy and now has lost it all. What a loser who will be going to prison eventually.

Does he own the plane or lease it? Might have to downsize to a Lear.

Good point. You are probably correct but I do not know that answer. However, he could end up penniless believe it or not except for all his hidden money outside the USA.

Thanks for doing all the hard work for us Mrs Vance. I am not sure any of us knew a year ago how deep and complicated these matters would become. Good to see the Civil case come to fruition.

The case that might at first have seemed like small potatoes is proving to be of colossal significance. Attorney General James has done New York, and the rest of the USA, a solid!

It would be pretty nifty if a receiver sells the real estate at a bargain, secured creditor liens are satisfied, and there’s bupkis left for the Trumps.

I hope E. Jean gets paid. The trial to determine how much Trump must pay her is scheduled for January 2024. So her attorney may not have been able to file a lien.

Expand full comment

I’d assume he’ll appeal. Litigators on here could confirm that there will be more than enough time to allow her to have her day in court before a receiver gets going.

Expand full comment

PS #1 Marnie, do you think that should there be a receiver, do the liens get paid in the order they are filed? Or does the receiver lump them all together, and should there not be enough equity to pay everyone 100% of their lien would the receiver then pay only a percentage to everyone? And would the IRS be in first position, no matter who had filed a lien prior to the IRS lien (or New York State tax liens)? I guess I’m wondering if E. Jean would be at the bottom of the line because she’s not the big player in the room like the IRS and the New York State tax commission.

Thank you Marnie. I’ve wanted her to have Trump Towers.

That is essentially what will happen.

I’m just plain exhausted hearing about the special treatment being provided to Trump (not required to show Oct 16 in DC because it would be too troublesome) and all his (successful) efforts to delay. Enough already, let’s get in with this. Another guy would be in jail. Just look at the Crypto guy. Much more of this and I really don’t see how anybody can have much respect for the system or believe in it unless you are white, rich, powerful and politically connected because all the legal analysis is chatter if Trump gets to manipulate the system.

Trump’s downfall was actually “winning” the Electoral College vote in 2016, instead of the Brand Identity of being in the race. He never thought he’d win, thus would not be subjecting his frauds to intense scrutiny that comes with being President; however once he tasted the power it was akin to Gollum’s My Precious ring. He thought he was invincible. Trump failed spelling “invisible”. Now being “ringless” His frauds are being exposed

Well-put, Dave. I like your framing of "Trump's dilemma". Maybe someday some composer could write a searing opera about it. It would have to be an opera because the truth itself is beyond fantasy. Not too soon, though- we need time to recover from the drama, and an opera would have to be a cautionary tale, too deep and intense to process this soon after the fact.

Joyce, On today's Al Franken podcast, Norm Ornstein suggests that Trump's threats to General Milley's life are an indirect way to threaten witnesses, jurors, attorneys, judges, and others in his upcoming and current trials. That fits w/ Trump's MO as a mob boss. Mitt Romney acknowledged spending thousands for personal & family security to keep safe from MAGA violence. Can judges or prosecutors sanction Trump for this type of threat?

Expand full comment

I would have rather seen Trump handcuffed and hauled off in the middle of the night to jail for those threats.

You can bet your last dollar. If it were you, I, or any other citizen, that’s exactly what would happen. When any one of these 4 indictments were handed down by the respective Grand Juries, we wouldn’t have received any phone call and told to report to the court to surrender the following week. We would have had our home raided, while we slept, and we would have been cuffed and led out of our homes by federal marshals to an awaiting armored vehicle.

I’m sick of all thus preferential treatment this 🍓💩🤡is, and has been, receiving! And yet, once again, Special Prosecutor Jack Smith is asking, yet again, for a “Gag Order” be placed on Trump!

It's difficult to keep up with Trump's shenanigans. I saw the photo of the Glock gun stunt - but honestly thought it was from years ago. The one thing we won't need to worry about with Trump having a gun is him shooting it himself. The alleged don-Don will get someone else to do his dirty work.

On 09/29/2023 Mr. Smith submitted a reply to TFG's answer about a 'gag' order. In it he referenced TFG's truth social post about the General.

"On September 22, on Truth Social, the defendant falsely claimed that the retiring Chairman

of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, a witness cited in the indictment, had committed treason and

suggested that he should be executed."

It has been stated elsewhere that the Judge Chutkan could impose monetary fines, revoke his bail, or MOVE up the date his trial starts.

Can he be fined $1 million per threat? Is that what you mean, Laurie?

I don't know what the options are - jail, fines, or ? I imagine he'd invoke his First Amendment rights, and I don't know how our legal system handles indirect threats like his which have provoked individuals to violence and the mob to the Jan. 6 attempted coup.

Expand full comment

Although the First Amendment is the “Freedom of Speech” Amendment, it does NOT give anyone the right to pose threats of violence against others, of any kind.

Trump, and his ‘campaign’ continue to scream he has the First Amendment right to speak at his ‘campaign appearances’. Yes, he does, but not about the cases against him, not about any of the prosecution teams, justices, attorneys, witnesses, or their families. And such utterance of any of this is a violation of his court order.

Trump has very clearly violated this court order time and time again. What he is doing is essentially rewriting criminal law, because if any if us had committed one-tenth of the crimes he’s accused of, we world not be walking the streets. We would have been dragged out of our home in handcuffs in the middle of the night by the U. S. Marshals!

I'm also looking forward to the state and Federal tax audits and charges that should be coming. Since Trump et al were found guilty of fraud the statute of limitations on tax charges shouldn't apply. And, since Trump used LLCs, the additional taxes, interest and penalties all flow through to the owners.

Expand full comment

There is a statute of limitations even for fraud. It’s 6 years. But it sounds like there are several years that will fall in there.

Expand full comment

I'm sorry I didn't provide more information in my initial response. I was only referring to Federal tax return fraud. There is a 6 year Federal statute of limitations in the Internal Revenue Code for substantial understatements of income which means you've left off more than 25% of the gross income you included on your Federal tax return., but it's not for fraud; it's for an omission. It also applies if you overstated your "basis" (tax jargon roughly equivalent to investment) in any transactions involving your assets. However, there is no statute of limitations if you committed fraud on any Federal tax return. There is also a penalty if any of your tax underpayment is due to fraud. The penalty is 75% of the underpayment due to fraud. This is in addition to the additional tax owed and interest charged. When the Treasury Dept (IRS is part of Treasury) goes after a taxpayer for civil fraud the taxpayer basically has prove there was no fraud. If it's criminal fraud, the burden of proof is on the IRS. I truly hope they get Trump for tax fraud and hit him with the fraud penalty. This would also mean that Don Jr and Eric would be in the same boat.

And buying a hand gun while under 91 felony indictments?????

Not just any gun and the suggestion he wanted to buy one on the spur of the moment is garbage. That weapon would have taken a long time to prepare the engravings and I’m going suggest, and I think quite accurately actually, that Trump personally approved every component of the design. And yet here we continue - no repercussions. The more nothing is done the braver he gets and the more the courts are contributing to the destruction of the democratic experiment.

I had a shotgun special ordered from Remington years ago. I did this through a gun shop. It was for a graduating senior. It had special engraving to be done in it, and the barrel. It took three months to order, and receive the shotgun.

This firearm here, with all this special engraving, etc that’s on it, with Trumps ‘likeness’ engraved in it has taken at least three months to order, approve the design and engraving art, and then get it engraved. It’s not a ‘spur-of-the-moment’, “I’m going to walk into this gun shop and purchase this firearm with my kindness and other special engraving” today!

If Trump 🍓💩🤡 thinks that will fly with us, he’s totally liar what little brains, mind, he had!
