There is so much going on in the world right now it's so helpful to read your summary and what we should focus on.

It’s just incredible what can be done in the legal system when you have race, money and power on your side/at your disposal. Just incredible. Flip side - when you don’t - it’s Fulton County/Rikers type jail and pronto. Justice is not blind. In fact, the eyes are wide open. Justice is a decision or outcome solely a function of race, money and power. Trump and Leonard Leo are teaching us that.

I miss the chickens.

tRump's legal morass shows what special treatment he is getting. No regular run of the mill person would be allowed the leeway tRump is getting. He gets this leeway mostly because he is loud and obnoxious, but also because of his high visibility. I will be SO glad when he fades from the national stage.

John D. Cooper's avatar

Yes, JennSH! Trumps visibility and active engagement in our current government and politics is beyond anything experienced in our lifetime. GW Bush went back to Texas and began painting. Jimmy Carter went home and built homes, wrote books, created a foundation to help global democracies, etc.

Trump has been ever present since he came down the escalator and mischief has been his every action. None of us will be able to adequately focus on the many problems our nation and global community face until the man is somehow taken off stage. But, as we are seeing, it has not been, nor will not be easy.

As I have said before, he is a mentally sick man and he has made everyone who pays attention sick whether supporter or non-supporter.

God forbid if Jordan or anyone else hand picked by him becomes House Speaker next week.

Unfortunately, Jordan swayed 4 naysayers to his side today. He still has an uphill battle, but it's disappointing those people bought his "promises."

Because he's loud and obnoxious, has high visibility -- and a horde of loony-tunes well-armed followers who've already stormed the Capitol once and committed many other violent, sometimes murderous acts. Trump is no Pandora, but I wonder if (and if so, how) the forces he unleashed can be stuffed back into the box.

Well, didn't the traitors accountant spend some time in Rikers? There is hope, and success, when good people do something. (as opposed to "...when good men do nothing.") When more of us do something on the side of the law, justice can prevail. I know the odds are against it, but when it really counts, we must succeed.

Pamela, we all are definitely tired--but we can't let that stop us in our struggle for our country.

Take good care and rest when necessary, ask for support when you need it--from us, from family and friends, and from your chosen activist group.

As Joyce always says: "We're in this together!"

And we certainly are....

I spent 3years listening daily to the crimes of Trump being discussed on (mostly) MSNBC and particularly to the female prosecutors. I was so impressed with their honesty and integrity and fierceness. I had never been exposed to women such as Joyce Vance and Barbara McQuade and Jill Wine-Banks.

I learned to depend on them to protect the people of this country from the criminals such as trump who have no respect for the rule of law. Thank you all.

All three women you mentioned are so impressive, add HCR to the list! When you think about the current larger number of women in public life (and private) who have come into their own, so to speak, i.e., Nancy Pelosi, Kamala Harris and many others - we have more who speak for us than ever, which is a good thing.

Thanks so much for all you mentioned. Its going to be a very interesting week. I remember so very well the Holloway case. Obviously Joran continued to pretend he was above the law but in another country. So glad he was caught and held accountable. Hopefully he will be again in this country.

Also looking forward to the results of everything else this week.

Continued prayers for those affected in Israel and Gaza. We need peace there too.

Thanks, Joyce, I look forward to all the attempts by trump this week to push the boundaries of any and all of the cases against him. I honestly believe that he needs to be remanded to jail with the order being "until this trial begins", and after he has sat in jail being treated like a common criminal in a tiny cell, in solitary confinement with only a SS agent to chat with, he could be brought back before the Judge in 7 days to see if he'd like another chance to keep his mouth & his social media "clean". I think he might LEAP at the chance to get out of that predicament & promise to be good. Of course, he won't be able to keep quiet on stage or social media, as he is responsible for everything his office posts, too, right? And when that happens, the Judge can have him sent back to jail again, but this time to wait for trial to begin, as he had several chances to behave himself. I doubt anyone could fault the Judge after that. Your thoughts?

Let's hope for a good week, carry on.

It's frankly impossible to ascertain exactly how *Judge* Cannon will (finally) adjudicate her Garcia hearing, but she had the cheek to remonstrate one of the prosecutors for "wasting the court's time" by apparently bringing up an item not previously advanced by the government..."wasting the court's time", as if the tRump's team HASN'T been? That is so rich!

There is a certain irony in Cannon’s emphasis on wasting time; she is very capably wasting time herself. And she fools no one.

Pleasant evening to you Joyce. Thank you for giving us details on Mr. 45’s attempts to keep digging his own highway to hell and thumbing his nose at the judicial system he scorns never for one minute considering his probable fate. Its theatre even theatre advocates might dismiss as frivolous and a waste of everyone’s time. Anyway... there is a profound sadness around all of this for all of us patiently or impatiently awaiting his retreat into some dark corner of history.

You are the pillar for us all keeping it real. Blessing to Israel and for all those caught in the middle ❤️🗽🇺🇸

I suspect that trump will have one of his minions to make telephone threats to a juror. Maybe two. If the judge doesn't allow the gag order, then trump will have a field day.

I hope Peter Stork and Lisa Page get a judgement against trump. I'd love to see both of them walking in to trump headquarters and demand payment.

He is a liar, liar, pants on fire who wanted to pretend he had not met E. Jean whom he raped.

Expand full comment
Valere's avatar

Indeed. But what was most 'interesting' about the misidentification was Ivana was standing next to him in the picture and E. Jean was with her then-husband. So then one could ask: "Why would Ivana stand there smiling at 'Marla' aka E. Jean, when Marla was having an affair with Donald at the time. I know that Ivana accosted Marla on ski hill at Vail. I think if that had been Marla in the receiving line, Ivana would have smacked her. I think Trump pretended to misidentify E. Jean as Marla during the depo because he wanted to keep the lie going that he had never seen E. Jean so could not have raped her. He knew full well it was E. Jean, the woman he has been found guilty of raping. He wanted to pretend in the deposition that he had never seen E. Jean Carroll - and he did so, even while it made him look less than bright. He will lie to cover his tracks regardless of the subject. But either way, the lie did not have a favorable outcome for Trump: in a slanderous comment about E. Jean, he said "she isn't my type" but he transposed her for Marla who certainly was his type (so E. Jean WAS his type). Also, I believe he admitted in the depo that he 'liked E. Jean's husband.' So he knew him and knew he was E. Jean's husband. He is just a liar, liar, pants on fire.
