A few minutes before 10 p.m. Eastern on Thursday evening, the Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol issued its final report. It is 845 pages long, comprised of the executive summary we saw on Monday, eight chapters, and four appendices.
Thank you for your thoughtful distillation of the 845 page report. Crimes were committed. I hope DOJ has the courage to indict. We all saw crimes committed in plain sight. Hope you get some rest and your chickens stay warm durning these ferociously freezing temperatures.
Girl, get some rest… you are going to be in demand well into next week. I wish I could say… thank you for making this all understandable. Sadly it makes me sick… sick of it all. The taxes, the fraud, everything he touches does indeed die today overwhelmingly it seems half our citizenry. I’m exhausted from it all, yet like all train wrecks in the making I can’t turn away. I hope too many others can’t either. Ughhh and thank you!
Add my name to the list of readers who are grateful to you. It is staggering how much you read last night/this morning and distilled for us laypeople. Thank you, as always, but especially today!
Joyce, you are the new Superwoman! I saw you on CNBC last evening before I turned in and I woke up to this brilliant distillation of this monumental report. Thank you and I am sure this will long be a topic for many more Civil Discourse comments.
Here we go...and obviously you haven’t slept a wink.
Detailed (and righteous) summation. My concern is that the Justice Department dragged their feet so long the Republicans are going to ensure he slips away.
Get some rest, please. I am a hell of a lot more informed now, than I was last night. The all gal panel on the 11th Hour was a winner.
This is a magnificent, thoughtful, extremely perceptive and insightful summary of the entire report plus appendices. It is almost impossible to believe that one person could have read, digested, analyzed and summarized this document so well and so informatively. Everyone should read it, if nothing else. Thank you, Joyce.
Thank you for helping us understand the report which gives hope that eventually we will see justice. Just wondering, “The new provision would require that 20% of the members of each chamber lodge an objection before there can be a challenge.”
Joyce, The scope of your writing is mind boggling at 2:30 am. Do you ever sleep?
With some many people who were part of tfg's corruption still inside government, still holding on to what they know, still Working for the destruction our constitution... and still as inept as tfg... we may have a chance to put him in jail. Thanks once again.
Thank you for providing this information, Joyce. I am most interested in who will comprise the legal team that can/ will defend trump. I think I am more hopeful for the future than I have been for a while.
Does Joyce or Barbara McQuade (or others) ever really sleep or is there something in lawyers that allow sleep deprivation and memory retention at the same time? She looked exhausted last night. But whatever enables you all to produce the stuff you all do is amazing and I'm very thankful.
You say, "Acting Attorney General Rosen admits that “in hindsight” no one at the Department contemplated “how bad that afternoon turned out to be.” Nobody in the DOJ leadership could have predicted President Trump’s actions that day.”
Funny, it feels like we could have all told them that at this point."
Yep, no kidding. HRC predicted various flavors of this during her run against the malignant narcissist. As time went on, she was proven right and right again. So, god, did we know.
Thanks for pouring through the report so we could wake up to your illuminating points.
I watched you on TV late into the night. When I saw this in the morning I was amazed. When I read it I figured you were up all night. I knew you were thorough and brilliant but this was an amazing job kudos to you. How you managed to write such a clear concise overview in such a short amount of time is incredible. Hopefully, now that this is out and more analysis gets done and the holidays are over, you can take a breath and get back to what’s really important, your knitting🧶🤗
Your commitment to clarifying this report, and indeed this entire situation for us, never flounders. We see you constantly dropping what you must be doing to answer a few questions brilliantly. Then, you keep up with Civil Discourse. I'm starting with Ch. 2 this busy week--and beginning to float the idea with friends of an indictment party! Please KNOW how appreciated you are!

Joyce - Thank you for being here and offering your brilliant insight and interpretation to this historical moment in history.

Your summation is very helpful in understanding the timeline and precise details of those critical and dangerous few hours.
Here we go...and obviously you haven’t slept a wink.

It appears the House had 20% GOP members, prior to the insurrection, to lodge a challenge. https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2021/01/07/us/elections/electoral-college-biden-objectors.html
It appears there were only 4 members of the Senate.
Why 20%?

I understand why Joyce declined to name any of her baby chicks "Cassidy", as several readers had suggested. Ms. Cassidy Hutchinson is no chicken!
