I hope they are all found guilty. I watched the coup attempt on tv as it was unfolding. I watched trump incite the offenders to action. I watched the rioters attack the Capital Police and I watched for hours while no help came. They are guilty of seditious conspiracy and should be found guilty. They should face the maximum penalty the law allows. I watched many of our elected leaders in fear for their lives while other of our elected leaders side with the conspirators. It was a disgraceful day in our history.

I had the same experience. I was playing "War" with my 5 year old granddaughter, as I felt like I was watching war break out in DC. She had her back to the TV as I didn't want her to see what was happening, but I kept saying aloud "Why isn't anyone coming to help?" I could not believe that the Capital police was left to fend for themselves in such dangerous conditions, but as I look back, I realize that it was purposeful and criminal. He saw what was happening and chose to let chaos and harm prevail. May they all be held accountable.

"Stewart Rhodes, a Yale-educated lawyer" doesn't say much for Yale.

There's a lot of scumbags with "Yale something" in their CV. also the rest of the (Poison) Ivy League.

It’s appalling that so many graduates of Ivy League schools who voted against certifying the 2020 presidential election are sitting in Congress today.

Yale should publish a check list of graduates gone wrong. Buyer beware...

Then we certainly cant say much for Wharton! It isn’t the education it is the person who uses or misuses his or her education.

Trump claims to have gone to Wharton, but he couldn't get in because he couldn't even meet the then-low admissions standards. He was allowed to AUDIT classes at Wharton. One of the professors whose class he attended recalled "Donald Trump was the dumbest fucking student who ever walked into my classroom!"

Under Article 3 of the 14th Amendment. A bit different from seditious conspiracy. But still in the ballpark.

You keep a fast pace JV. Thank you for details about the upcoming trials. I looked at the faces of those immigrants who were recently herded off to Martha’s Vineyard having just fled Venezuela under very harsh conditions and I applauded them for their strength and courage and hopes for a better life. They risked everything. The Rhodes gang however are followers of a myth that belonging to a lie will somehow purify them as long as they don’t look back that is. I’m sad for all of them that they got it so wrong.

Joyce, do you ever wish that they would call you back for cases like this? I I would love to see that. This trial is so important, if they all get off scot free, then that gives others permission to do the same thing. I know the wheels of justice turn slowly, but in cases like this, I wish we could spin those wheels a little faster. Back to my knitting. I did my first bootie...

Why can't the Oath Keepers guilty verdict not only include lengthily penal servitude but also permanent deportation into a foreign authoritarian government and loss of American citizenship since they obviously hate America's democratic form of governance?

If some or all of these people are found guilty, is it possible to taint any others who can be shown to have conspired with them, and perhaps prohibit those people from holding office? Thinking of the Gubernatorial Pa. Race, some senators or house members, or even Trump or people in his administration.

At the same time, is it possible to extend the same consequences if convictions happen with the fake elector scheme?

Thank you JWV for the informative assessment of what is happening and why the wheels of justice are grinding so slowly. I realize that Trump evaded impeachment twice, and that that procedure is not the same as prosecution by the DOJ. However, the adage that if you shoot the king, you'd best not miss, seems like a good reason the DOJ is taking its time to the indict the former president. This whole situation is worse than your typical Hollywood cliffhanger, thriller. If Republicans take over the House in the midterms they promise havoc on the J6 investigation, and create opportunity for DJT to proceed with his intention to get total power. This is nuts. With a belligerent, politicized SCOTUS and a MAGA GOP, what protection remains for defenders of representative democracy like Joe Biden?
