Thanks to you and Bob for the drink idea! And thanks for continuing to help so many of us gain a better understanding of the legal landscape we're in as a nation.
While I don't enjoy gin, I do enjoy a refreshing cocktail, so huzzah to a good drink with or without alcohol. I hate to say that as soon as I read about this 11th circuit item I wanted a drink with alcohol. The plain facts support testimony. It as if congress took a page from corporate playbooks and decided that just stalling for time was the only thing that needed to be done in order to avoid being held accountable for their actions. If Graham is so sure of his position then he should talk about it under oath. Otherwise it's all a bunch of hooey. I say this as a person who has sat for a 9 hour deposition in an environmental matter in Alabama a number of years ago. I had reasonable time to prepare (on behalf of a corporation), but the deposition was taken with the expectation of trail. If I can do, so can Lindsey Graham.
Many thanks to Bob for sharing his recipe for The Georgia Hotel!👏 Joyce, your update on Graham-gate (not invented here😉) is excellent news, exciting, and surprising. 🙏 Like Tina mentioned in her comment above/below, when overarching bad behavior/intent ("Treason, Felony and Breach of the Peace" as quoted from Art. 1 Sect 6 of the Constitution) is at stake how can our Justice System tackle in a timely way this Speech-or-Debate privilege without first settling the bad-behavior question? Could take months or years. What did the Framers have in mind? So confusing! I hope l'm making sense with this comment.
Thanks again for clarifying events. I was discussing you with friends and we agreed that, since subscribing to Civil Discourse (or getting them shared by me), when we see your analysis on TV, it's as if our best friend is on camera!
I'm also on the short side (five feet, zero inches) and tend to be careful about consumption. I do however enjoy a glass of wine with dinner. Every night.
Thank you for the reality check. Can you expand upon the “speech and debate” clause protections? Is there precedent as to whether this applies in the following contexts:
1. Campaigns for incumbants
2. Investigation of whether the Congressional person Assisted in a criminal endeavor
3. The Congressional person is a witness to an element of a crime being investigated?
My dad used to make him fizzes and allow me a taste when I was too young to have a full adult beverage for myself. I’m going to have to try Bob’s recipe and toast both Bobs (my dad’s name) when I do so!
It isn’t drinking that I like. I don’t particularly. If I’m out with a friend it’s enjoyable, and although I don’t really drink but only about half of it since I realized my parents both drank themselves to death. They had great friends, other actors and theatre workers, so my youth brought lots of interesting people and things to do.
Just love you, Joyce. Never expected drink recipes and chickens along with a brilliant legal mind.

It’s so disappointing that these things take so long to get a resolution. It feels like a game and the public keeps getting manipulated.
I am enjoying your thoughtful explanations and look forward to receiving them.
Will be trying the drink soon. Jwh
Thanks, Joyce for giving us the timeline so we can keep track of this important decision.
“Short side”?! That one stopped me - well, short. In fact, you are ten feet tall in every important way. Thank you for your insight.
Keeping my fingers crossed that Graham is ultimately forced to appear. Thanks for explaining all the steps being taken to make that come true.
Thanks for the recipe and summary.
I had to laugh to myself as I realized here I am, I am a white male sitting in northern Washington state, reading this in Joyce’s voice. 🤣

I'm on the short side too, but I never considered that to be a concern when consuming alcohol. Could you please explain?
In some studies, body mass has been shown to be a factor in the impact of alcohol to the system.

Cheers!🍹
Thank you for the recipe and the constant wisdom.

A little like a favorite of mine, the Ramos Fizz. I find gin so refreshing, don't you Joyce?
