It absolutely warms my heart to see your dog with your chicks. If only Rs and Ds could learn the lesson from them. But then again, neither your dog or your chicks are corrupt extremists.

May I say I don’t trust Pence to be entirely forthcoming in his testimony in response to the subpoena. He’s proven he can dodge and weave to avoid taking any stand against the warlord and the co-conspirators (arguably he was a co-conspirator himself for 4 years). His ambitions outweigh his patriotism. Hope I’m proven wrong.

Does 45 have something on Pence that keeps Pence fearful and less willing to say much?

Maybe Pence sat too close to a woman in a meeting and TFG has threatened to tell Mother. 😁

😅Surely t-rump has come up with something that would completely do him in as if hanging wasn’t enough! Yu

I suspect the Rump "has something" on nearly everyone in his orbit. That's how the mob works.

This question has been coming up often ever since most legislative and other elected Republicans fell in line behind Trump after the 2016 election. How likely is it that Trump "has something" on all these people?? Not very, IMNSHO. Let's start looking for more plausible explanations, like the GOP has been headed in an anti-democratic, autocratic, racist, sexist, policy-free direction for several decades now. Pence was a weak reed before Trump came along. The stronger reeds threw in their lot with Trump so they could get what they wanted -- for McConnell, for instance, it was packing the courts and the Supreme Court. Now they find themselves riding the MAGA whirlwind and wondering how to dismount safely.

Does he something on Lindsay? Mc Carthy? Rubio? Have to wonder why the extreme about face after Jan 6. Very mob like.

But the real about-face happened after Trump was elected in 2016. By 1/6/21, things had changed: the single-minded power of "the base" had been revealed, and the many Republicans who worried about surviving primaries and getting re-elected *must* have noticed. Quite understandably, quite a few of them, including McCarthy, were freaked out by the invasion of the Capitol. Their first impulse was to fear for their lives and condemn it. Before long, however, they realized that Trump was all in with it -- and so, missing barely a beat, were they.

I keep thinking of Maya Angelou's famous advice: "When people show you who they are -- believe them the first time." The Republicans haven't been making much of a secret of who they are since the mid-1990s, but it's taken many of us, including me, a long time to catch on.

Not a chance. And isn’t that the best thing about Mike Pence. That he is actually true to his God.

"Congress! If you're listening!" LOL! Fat chance!! Do you think that all of them are "capable" of loving? I don't. I think there are many narcissists in Congress who are unable to love.

I am falling hopelessly in love with the chickens and of course the dogs. I am doubtful that they will let me have more than my Maltese dog when I move to Pasadena next month. Grateful for small mercies.

Good luck Ellin. Your Maltese will be great company. Lovely dogs.

My rescue Maltese is adorable, but she barks constantly!!! 😣

Expand full comment

Yeah, you have to have tolerance for yapping with Maltese. I've heard there is a way to train them out of it, but mine was a yapper too, and I was untrainable. And, the grooming is a lot. But they are faithful cuddly pets. Especially in big life changes.

Seeing your dog with the chickens reminds me of my dog and friends chickens. I have a basset hound and as one knows one of the things they were used for was hunting and flushing out the prey. I was visiting a friend and for some reason she hadn’t put the chickens in their coop.Samantha disappeared behind the garage and suddenly out comes a chicken running for it life Samantha in hot pursuit. I am running after them . Through the flower bed , some feathers flying.I catch my dog look up and there is another chicken got my dog in the car. My friend is upset because my dog had no boundaries (?) tried to explain it was a hound thing but didn’t believe me. Fast forward 2 years she has adopted 2 hounds and laughs if a chicken gets out and dogs chase them telling me they are hounds. Dah!!

The chickens are such a pleasure to look at.

It's knowing we have volition that makes our life so much more stressful than these beautiful chickens.

Mike Pence could probably use a comfort chicken tonight.
