Everybody I've talked with is thrilled you are here, Joyce!!

Thank you! I had you had a substack party last night? Do tell? What was that about? Sounds very fun.

Joyce, I’ll admit that as a full time (45 year old) student, I don’t necessarily have the budget to pay for subscriptions. But…it’s only $6/month and you are worth every penny and more! I have been religiously listening to you and your brilliant gal pals on Sisters In Law podcast for the last ~6 months. As a wanna be lawyer who inadvertently ended up in healthcare for the last 15 years, I’ve truly learned so much about law from you, Jill, Barb & Kimberly. Sometimes I often wonder if I should have applied to law school instead of changing my trajectory in healthcare, because not only do I love to debate, I just have the utmost passion for seeking justice of those who need it most. Nonetheless, I just want to say thank you for taking the time out of your insanely busy schedule for us. It’s vital to keep the population informed with your expertise in the facts, despite the constant propaganda saying otherwise. You are a godsend. Especially in these very dark days.

PS: I’m obsessed with your adorable pups and your chicks. 💙

There's an awful lot of crossover between healthcare and law these days -- I did a collaboration on some classes with colleagues in the school of public health & it was very illuminating, so just a suggestion (not to keep you in school for extra years). Glad you're with me here and with us at #SistersInLaw!

I am a retired medical technologist, ie I ran lab tests for 45+ years. In the 80s I was working with another gal in California who wanted to quit the lab and go to law school. She took an entrance exam for McGeorge Law School in Sacramento and scored so high that they provided full tuition for her. She went into Environmental Law as I recall. Not sure if this pathway is available now but apparently it was a good crossover for her.

Through the years I've had to deal with legal blood draws (set up a DUI program with DA's office in NV), HIPPAA laws especially with regard to drug use and rehab, forensics and medical records, etc. Lots of crossover.... Often I wish I had crossed over.

I'm so glad you started this and have appreciated your summary of the upcoming committee hearings. BTW, my cat Figgy was not our family's first Fig. My daughter many years ago made a terrarium for her brother and caught three wood newts to live in it. He named them "Sir Isaak", "Olivia", and "Fig". They went back to the woods after their visit.

Thanks for doing this. Though god knows where you find the time. You have been at the top of my list among main stream tv analysts since i first saw you on MSNBC. I know that may sound like damning with faint praise but it isn’t meant to. I truly appreciate the procedural substance you bring to the conversation. So glad to have this read!! (Ever thought of keeping a couple of alpacas?)

Well, since you mention alpacas :) I have a daughter who really, really wanted one the whole time she was growing up. We had to explain that neither they nor goats were permitted where we live. I think she's still a little mad. And thank you for your kind words!

I've binged the Gilmore Girls 4 times since 2016. You are one of my favorite people to follow bc your judgement & reasoning are sound and credible. Animal lovers are the best people.

Hello Joyce- Just signed up for the annual subscription. You’ve been such a welcome voice the last few years and I was delighted to learn, a fellow knitter!

I think the pink pussy hats we knit in 2016 were just the start of knitter-activism. We have work to do.

So glad you’re doing this. Love the SiL podcast and am looking forward to more of your thoughtful and measured insight! No hope for me becoming a knitter, other than vicariously. 😉

Thank you. I am now a paid in full member. Your carefully worded analyses since 2017 as well as on #SIL have been helpful, comforting, warm and at times, full of gallows humor. Just wondering when you find time to teach as well! Bella is lovely. 🐾 This will be welcome reading as the 2022 election season unfolds.

I'd love to hear your reactions to the hearing. It's going to take a lot of different kinds of support and expertise to take it all in.

i’m sure i’ll be angry and anxious all at once! it will- i rely on you and other experts to explain things in plain language! i suspect this hearing might be more straightforward. i’ve been watching what Rep Raskin says (my rep😀). watched Love and the Constitution MSNBC program about him - great program

Joyce, thank you for doing this and your many other endeavors such as the Saturday podcast and appearances on MSNBC. Last year I signed up for the online course “US Political Institutions” taught by Harvard Professor, Thomas Patterson. What an eye opener about our government! I always thought I was fairly educated about how our government works; but this course humbled me tremendously.

I greatly appreciate listening to individuals who have made a career of working in and understanding national and global governments including legal aspects of same. The list of those I seek out regularly is long and you and your “SistersInLaw” are high on this list. I am looking forward to learning from the best!

You seem to have put into action something I think about a lot - civics shouldn't be something we take in 12th grade & are then done with. It needs to be part of a life long commitment to country & to learning. Really glad you're here with us!

Thanks so much for the opportunity to see how things work in the justice system. As an aging hippie liberal from the ‘60s and continuing through today, I am deeply invested in the good in our lives. I’m looking forward to each new explanation of the process. Of course Bella, the chickens are a delight.
