At this point, it feels like Republicans have decided that winning elections is just too much work—much easier to rewrite the rules. Why campaign with unpopular ideas when you can just hit Ctrl+Alt+Delete on democracy?

Trump wouldn’t have the foggiest idea what cntr+alt+delete referred to…even though he seems to be living in a fog.

His brain is gone!!!!! It’s over for him!!!

Yes! That is not a bug, but a feature for the Project 2025 people. His mindlessness enables him to repeat ad nauseam the few talking points they feed him and which he is able to remember. Unfortunately, he could still win and then it would be all over for us.

It may enable them to install JD Vance as POTUS! Trump must not win!!!

Kamala will also need a bright blue Congress! Oh please, oh please, oh please 🙏

Their antiquated ideas are not popular with the majority of Americans and they know it. They have no other strategy other than to try and overturn elections.

Heather Cox is surely not the only one posturing that Rs are not trying to win elections, but preparing to create chaos and steal the election.

Jimmy Carter made it to be able to vote in Georgia for Kamala Harris!

I’m not crying, you’re crying! And now, God willing, he will be here to see Kamala and Tim win the election in three weeks. I believe those are his last goals… and maybe then he is done and can go see his beloved Roslyn and rest.

I’m crying. Carter and trump are not even the same species in my mind. Trump is some lesser thing.

Joni, WDD, and Michele, I'm crying too, though I didn't get here soon enou.gh to cry with you. These are tears of joy for the good man that Jimmy Carter has always been, and of sorrow that he is so near to finishing his life. Still, I smile through my tears, because I'm sure that where he would like to be (after Karmala and Tim are elected!) is in heaven with Roslyn. Jesus, and all who he loved and who loved him!

He was the first person I voted for, for President. And again I voted for him in four years. The Republican Party has been dying for fifty years and more. Like Joe Biden in his rock-solid decency and humanity. The Party that elected Reagan has been practicing evil and deception for so long that it has worked its stink into American culture. I hope we can get rid of its rottenness.

It is going to be a looooong 3 weeks, but huge thanks to great minds like Judges McBurney (GA) and Manasco (AL) for their sound minds & judgements. It truly gives me hope. (And it should go without saying that I thank Joyce, Heather, and other scholars for their steady stream of info & updates.)

Thank you for this. As disheartening as it is to have this election be close (I mean, really, what the hell?) it is heartening to know that smart, competent, dedicated, honest people including you, Ms. Vance, are busting their asses to make sure the sleazeball cheaters don't run roughshod over our right to vote, and have our vote be counted. I don't want to fight in a civil war, I want our democracy to work the way are elected officials ostensibly agreed that it should. Thank you for helping our country uphold that principle.

I want to point out that Jay Kuo says that one of the things that is throwing everyone off is that the Republicans are flooding the airwaves with Republican polls that show Trump leading. This is fake news. Makes me feel that polls are not to be trusted, which I have always felt. It seems designed to get Democrats to stay home. Luckily the Democrats are saying get out the vote. https://statuskuo.substack.com/p/its-manipulation-plain-and-simple

Expand full comment

If this is a strategy, it may backfire. Some Republican voters may feel a kind of confidence that lets them just stay home rather than go out and vote.

TFG told them he doesn't need their votes. He's not trying for swing voters anymore. IMO, he knows he can't win based on internal polling so all he has left is to try to stop certification and rile up his base to do violence in case that doesn't work.

I appreciate this information. It was not even mentioned on my local or national news, but it is important to note that some judges are still fair and willing to stand for what is right. The voter roll purges need to be stopped in an even election year because it is simply unfair. People who have died can be found out online and, non-citizens are NOT registering to vote. It is political injustice or racism that are being used in the purges and that is unacceptable. Our Justice Department should be addressing these purges!

Joyce You are my judicial hero fighting against the Barbarians at the Gate. This news about how some judges (GA & AL) are ruling against electoral fraud in the hinterlands personally is a most welcome early birthday present for my 91st celebration tomorrow.

I have been fighting against the Barbarians at the Gate for much of my life. Voluntarily I was a ‘sucker’ and almost a ‘loser’ in service for my country (and Constitution). [In 1972, being on the Nixon White House Enemies List was not considered an honor by many.]

I am thrilled that you, Heather, and a multitude of others are fighting to preserve the soul (and judicial system) of our country. I seek to preserve America for my five grand children.

We are fighting to preserve a country that is ‘of the people, for the people, and by the people.’ Lincoln is my favorite warrior for the integrity of the United States.

All you folks are my honored modern-day warriors. The challenge is monumental: a critical battle between good and evil.

WE SHALL OVERCOME ON NOVEMBER 5TH.

As my hero (and friend) Edward R. Murrow would say:

GOOD NIGHT AND GOOD LUCK!

So TFG can’t call Kemp and ask him to find him votes or even ask him to not certify cause the courts said they must certify the votes. At least Alabama had to stop removing people so close to the election and I believe that someone stopped Youngkin from doing the same thing yesterday.

It’s gonna take a long time to get rid of these MAGAts out of office.

Imagine the chaos that would ensue with a hand count carried out by untrained personnel. Chaos. But then chaos would be desirable to Trump.

First of all, Judge Robert McBurney for the US Supreme Court - reason, fairness, clarity of judgment, and recognition that real human beings are at the other end of the decision. Next, my husband, nearly 98 year-old mom, and I voted yesterday in Atlanta. Security was there, mostly helping with parking and coming to the aid of another elderly woman who passed out, requiring a 911 call to come to her aid. Empathy was there throughout the scene.

Going in and out, I found voters, neighbors and strangers, to be upbeat and eager to cast their ballot. Urge all of you to urge others to get out there and relish what democracy looks and feels like up close and personal.

This is great news. Justice served. I can’t believe how fast time has flown. Moms Rising sent me another hundred postcards today. I hope to get them in the mail by Thursday. I am so proud of Kamala and Tim. It is great to see this large group of us working so hard to get the vote out. I see a BLUE 🌊. Thanks so much Joyce for your in depth explanations. I am constantly learning something new and relevant. I turned in my mail-in ballot and was notified it was received. Try to vote early if you can.
