Since there's no such thing as a "President Trump" right now, you'd think that whole letter would be invalid. It's referring to a person who doesn't exist.
I'm also tired of trump's entourage referring to him as "President". It's his cheating way of making himself appear to be as equally powerful as the country's actual (and legally elected) President. It's insulting. However, this state conviction is the gift that keeps on giving. I was listening to Michael Cohen mention in detail all the things trump will be required to do at his upcoming visit with his probation officer and every visit thereafter. So, now everytime he is referred to as "President", I now know what a personally embarrassing monthly ritual he'll have to go through and I can't imagine how any title would be a consolation for it.
I listened to that same podcast, it was fascinating. I worked in a county juvenile court system many years ago and read many pre-sentencing reports…they are very detailed, even at that level. His description of peeing in a cup in a room with many mirrors and in front of the probation officer made me smile!
That's all part of Trumplethinskin's con. While in office, I recall him raling against the accomodations at the White House, but the trappings of power are a heady brew for the narcissist wanna be dictator.
Mitchell, some people refer to "President Obama," but he did not commit crimes and was not indicted 88 times and convicted of 34 counts. Obama does not use the title of "President" as a way to let people think he has more power than a regular Citizen has; Trump does. It is in no way equivalent!
After his Presidency, President Eisenhower was often called General Eisenhower, his pre-presidency title. While it’s common to refer to former presidents as President, in Trump’s case, he should only be referred to as Felon.
The U.S. has, since Truman, began retaining a former president’s title. Initially, writers used “former,” but had abandoned it by LBJ since it was assumed there was no confusion on the part of the general electorate who the current president is.
Why asking “who is the current president?” Used to be a question doctors asked to assess cognitive status.
“The Imperial Presidency” really began with Reagan. Ronnie and Nancy liked the pageantry. I guess they wanted to emulate Queen Elizabeth.
What infuriated me is that the letter clearly implies that the gag order violates Trump's First Amendment rights, which it does not. Trump should be able to do what normal people do, including not insulting, slandering and threatening others.
Unfortunately, calling him by the honorific "president" is customary for former presidents, including Clinton, Obama, Bush and Carter.
Emily Post disagrees with you on that last point. They're addressed directly as Mr (and one day Ms) LastName, and referred to as "former President LastName."
"In past years, some guidebooks on manners maintained that in the U.S., the title should be reserved for the incumbent president only, and should not be used for former presidents, holding that it was not proper to use the title as a courtesy title when addressing a former president. Despite that, all living former U.S. Presidents continue to be addressed as "Mr. President", both formally and informally, and contemporary experts on etiquette now maintain that it is entirely appropriate."
Trump is such a goddamned goober, he can't face the fact that he is FORMER President Trump, LOSER of the 2020 Election. LOSER, like he's been at everything else he's ever tried in his worthless life. I pray every day he'll have his massive fatal mycardial inrfarction and stroke out in front of the rest of the goobers mid rant at the next hatealong.
I had a complete meltdown in my doctor's office today when the nurse practitioner started defending Trump and Republican policies. What fucking policies?
And then she mentioned Jan 6th.
Since my doctor is a concierge physician in a floozy office and I walked out in the middle of my appointment, it was tumultuous.
I’m not backing down anymore. I’m not staying quiet, and I’m saying exactly what I think.
My diatribe centered around anyone involved in January 6th should be rounded up, taken to the Capitol, lined up, and shot by firing squad for treason.
I doubt anyone in that office will forget today. I certainly won’t. I had enough.
There is only so much self righteous abuse of power any of us can take. She should have known better than to talk politics in a healthcare setting, but then again she had obviously drunk that MAGA media Kool Aid.
Good for you Gloria! An *excellent* response! Sounds like you learned you need to know the political beliefs of your medical professionals, lest you allow fucking morons to touch your vitals.
My doctor called me and profusely apologized. He knows I’m a diehard Democrat, a liberal, a Biden fangirl, lesbian, married to a young woman, fucking redhead firebrand.
I am very, very lucky that I walked out of there without beating her into a pulp.
I am just that incensed with the bullshit happening in my country.
Oh yeah, I used to put on my "USN Vet" baseball hat and go out to Planes of Fame after everything there went Trump, and most people thought I was just a member of the crowd. Older white male military vet. You betcha.
Wow! Sorry you had that experience while in what should absolutely be a no-politics neutral place. It might be good to reflect on your experience in an evaluation. No workplace should be allowing their personnel to engage with patients on their personal politics. I wonder if they're so used to their patients appearing to be, or known, trump supporters that she felt like she had to test her gut feeling that you might not be. Since they're a concierge service and depend on keeping their patients (and hopefully gaining more) they really blew it today. Sorry you went through that.
Gloria (She Who Stirs the Storm)! Wow! You certainly did stir the storm this time and I honor you for it. I am amazed just how often Trumpers and Trumpettes blurt out how wonderful their Donnie is and that January 6th was just a walk in the park for tourists. Thank you for telling them like it is. They claim to be for law and order while breaking the law and disrupting the order on a regular basis. I have a neighbor who just loves her Donnie. I told her I was sorry for her liking someone who had only contempt for her. That was honest, but I doubt she heard it. Please, Gloria, keep "stirring the storm!"
Politics need to be completely separated from business clients, no exceptions.
This is a failure of the head of their office to set and enforce that policy. The unprofessionalism will cost them.
Also:
Since this doctor has succumbed to the greed-grift of "concierge" that is where their vulnerability lies.
IMO anyone who is unsatisfied with the outrageous income that U.S. doctors enjoy, to the point of charging people for the "privilege" of being a patient, have already shown that their value system is bordering on sociopathy.
There is a huge difference in salary between private practitioners and doctors at most academic institutions. Like Joyce and others working for the government, academic docs are not paid like their counterparts. The other aspect is that the latter often have just as many loans for their post-college 8-11 years of education.
Yikes, get your money back and seek actual medical care from people who believe in science. And who deliver medical care not to make as much money as possible.
Wonderful, Gloria! Avoid all concierge practiices of anything! Why pay a monthly fee for the privilege of receiving a service for which one also pays a f-ing fortune?
I can’t imagine how satisfying this was. I also don’t imagine a diatribe in. Dr.s office won people to your point of view. (One MAY have made a number of concerned and frightened seniors determined to vote for the safety of their tfg savior.)
I enjoyed reading your bit, Gloria, as I usually do. Just as I enjoy S Colbert, a GUILTY x34 pleasure. But the second concern is much more important to me, when I reflect.
It’s not just politics. It’s a moral issue. Stop with the both sides crap. More people should have spoken out in Germany in the 30’s. Lies are lies. I’m really proud of her.
But Mark, sometimes enough is enough! The medical staff shouldn’t be talking politics in the office to begin with! Sometimes diplomacy isn’t quite enough!
Mark, I keep hearing that honey and flies proverb, but the question is, how many flies do we need at one time. It seems the Trump flies are not going to be gotten (whatever that would be) with vinegar or honey. They are so wrapped up in their idea of "greatness" hearing over and over the code words that they, white working-class and above Americans who think they should have more than they do are "precious" to their Donnie. They want to be precious to someone so maybe Donnie, a toddler-man with no moral compass will be the one who will let them win the lottery. They don't realize that the only reason he kept his rallies going even during his presidency, and a 4-year campaign after losing is that he needs their energy, and he wants to keep them salivating every time they hear his voice. They get the benefit of not even having to listen to what he says because it doesn't make sense anyway. He keeps lying to them and they eat it up because they would rather do that than demand their representatives actually do something to help them or even vote for people who do actually care about them. Which brand of honey can ever be effective in luring the die-hard Trumpers and Trumpettes. Why, when they are asked what they like about Trump, they just say, "everything." It means nothing and they don't even have to think about it. At least the higher-up Trumpers and Trumpettes can say, "I get power and money being around that jerk, so I'm on board."
Hey Andrea, I was thinking of "j" for jerk. It's the felon former president alphabet game. I bet there is a crime or lack of morals word for every letter that would fit Trump: a for a**hole, b for bully, c for convicted criminal, etc.
Let's rewrite that song from the '50s: "A you're a big fat Ass, B you're so Bilious, C you're a Criminal at heart, D you're Deplorable, E your ass is Enormous, F you're a Felon through and through." And so on...
MaryB, great idea, rewriting that song, but alas all of the letters are not used in that song and we wouldn't want to pass any when it comes to Trump, so here is a continuation of the alphabet: G gorgeous you are not, H you're a hateful sot, I you're insufferable to all, J you're a jealous jerk, K knowledge you won't work, L you're a lying cheat, M you're a mess to meet, N you're notorious tis true, O you're obnoxious and P a pathetic man, Q not quite an honest tan. R you're ridiculous, S you're superfluous, T you're a toddler-scare, U uniquely unaware, W you're a wooden log, X eXtremist demigogue, Y you're a yawn to all who hear, Z zip your mouth and all would cheer! it's time you should go back to Mar-a-Lago, permanently!.
Well done, Ruth! I knew someone would continue this and do an even better job than I. Now, can you fix my "E" adjective? It really should rhyme with "Deplorable."
Hi Mary, here is what I came up with. What do you think?
A is your Ass is grass, B your too bilious, C you're a criminal at heart. D you're deplorable, e egotistical, F just a Felon with a fart.
G gorgeous you are not, H you're a hateful sot, I you're insufferable to all, J you're a jealous jerk, K knowledge you won't work, L you're a lying cheat, M you're a mess to meet, N you're notorious tis true, O you're obnoxious and P a pathetic man, Q not quite an honest tan. R you're ridiculous, S you're superfluous, T you're a toddler-scare, U uniquely unaware, W you're a wooden log, X eXtremist demagogue, Y you're a yawn to all who hear, Z zip your mouth and all would cheer! it's time you should go back to Mar-a-Lago, permanently
OK, it needs some work with the rhymes and verses, but it could work.
I was born in Wisconsin and have lived here for most of my 76 years. It really feels good to know that our AG, Josh Kaul, is "pressing charges" against at least some of the perpetrators of the fake elector scheme. Since Scott Walker was elected governor, and the Legislature was gerrymandered over a decade ago, it's been extremely frustrating for those of us who vote for the liberal side of the aisle. We have de-gerrymandered recently, but we are not out of the woods yet. It was so bad that the state legislature was about two thirds Republican, despite about two thirds of the total votes cast by people who voted for the Democrats. You can easily imagine that many of us are looking forward to the results of the next elections. Even if we don't regain majorities in the Assembly and the Senate, we'll almost certainly be much closer to a fair contest. And I just want to say that the Republicans resort to devious means to win elections because their ideas and policies are not popular here.
It feels like Wisconsin is on the road to recovery from over a decade of the Republican's ill-gotten majorities.
I've also heard about WI getting back to pre-gerrymandered. I know that must be a relief. I live in FL and our Gov has a republican majority in the legislature who do his bidding and he's appointed the majority of our state supreme court. How was WI able to get themselves de-gerrymandered - was it a change in governors? Must've also had a change in the number of Dems in your legislature? Again, big congrats!
I, too, have lived in WI all of my 70 years. I have wanted to escape since the Republicans took over our government, but {sigh}, here I am. I have been screaming Josh Kaul's name at the TV every time another state started this process, but not WI. Sorry, Josh. But, if someone would acknowledge that anything was being done to charge these people, it would put a lot of us at ease. Don't even use names, just occasionally say the investigation is ongoing. As for Ron Johnson [gag], a constant embarrassment to our state. I could cry every time I remember that he won over our beloved Russ Feinstein! RJ is just a waste of skin. He should be ridden out of the state on a rail, the old-fashioned way, possibly being tarred and feathered a bit. The vast majority of liberals are in Milwaukee (me) and Madison, so if EVERY Democrat and Independent would vote for all Dems we could soon be rid of these greedy brainless imps. Everybody - vote Democrat for everything!
Common Sense, the problem, Ron Johnson is definitely not the brightest bulb in any string. They may determine he is too stupid to know what it meant when they explained the elector plan. He might have thought he meant something to do with appliances in his house.
I too was disappointed that he wasn't included in the indictment; BUT, there is a grassroots movement to recall Ron Johnson that is just starting. The statement he signed May 30th effectively vowing to stop doing the job he was elected to do was the catalyst. Not sure if it will go anywhere, but some folks are fed up enough to try.
You are such a ballast, Joyce Vance, in this disturbingly treacherous world. Never anticipated that our USA would be this corrupted by so many greedy, amoral people who lust for power over protecting democracy and/or the safety and survival of this planet 🌎.
It’s shameful! “Merrick Garland testified before the House Judiciary Committee today and held his own against ludicrous efforts by Republican committee members to claim Garland and Biden had politicized the Justice Department. The hearing seemed to be a memory-free zone where Trump’s efforts to extract a loyalty pledge from then-FBI Director Jim Comey, force Attorney General Jeff Sessions to fire Special Counsel Bob Mueller and install Jeffrey Clark as Attorney General to advance fake claims of election fraud in 2020 were entirely forgotten.” Also Fauci’s horrible experience having to contend with the pariah MTG who is so beneath him in every way.
A memory free zone is right. When I read about the Hunter Biden case (and we all know Hunter Biden is certainly no angel), it reminds me of the GOP making a hero out of Kyle Rittenhouse who crossed state lines with an illegal gun and killed people - and they thought he was just dandy. WTAF.
It was appalling to listen to Margery Taylor Greene take apart a national treasure like Fauci. But this is pure Trump-sycophant behavior: burn down the whole system. I wanted to cry for Fauci who has done so much good in advancing our understanding and treatment of infectious diseases. What should happen is holding Trump accountable for putting out misinformation - and making Republican Governors do the same - that ultimately killed many more from Covid.
MUCH IRONY IN THE GUN CHARGE AGAINST HUNTER BIDEN. If I understand the charge correctly, it means anyone who uses marijuana and then bought a gun from a dealer is likely guilty of the same crime and should go to the slammer. This probably includes 10 million Trump supporters.
And if I recall the discussion with Nicole Wallace correctly this charge is only ever brought in conjunction with violence committed with said weapon purchased with false statements regarding drug use. Hunter Biden’s weapon was never loaded.
Oh, but that doesn’t seem to matter. The hypocrisy of these so called committees is so blatantly obvious that it would make me laugh if it weren’t so f-ing scary! The lack of evidence as a result of this obscene waste of time and money is our tax dollars at work!
Everyone who signed off on that letter stating they would no longer do the work they were elected to do should be recalled and/or fired, whichever works quicker!
One of the reasons I never pursued a prescription for medical marijuana when I needed it for pain management (even though having a ‘script would mean that I wouldn’t have to pay tax) was because if I had a record of documented drug use—even for marijuana—would mean I could never get licensed to own a gun.
Recreational marijuana use is fully legal here. If I go into a dispensary without a ‘script, I must pay taxes. I have no interest in owning a gun, probably will never own a gun, but still…
Looking backward, it is nice to see accountability playing out in Wisconsin. Looking forward, though, how can we ensure the results of the next election are honored and not subverted, by, say, contesting results and throwing it to the house?
They're going to be interested in stealing swing state votes that don't go for trump: PA, MI, WI, AZ. So, they'll have to watch the election returns to see how they're faring. They'll start trouble sometime after the majority of the votes are in, if they don't win. We won't be controlling the House this time but this time we do have the VP who'll be counting the electoral votes (good for us!!). I'm sure she knows she'll have to be knowledgeable about how the swing states voted and she won't fall prey to any potential attempt at chaos because she'll remember about the failed fake elector scheme. That makes me feel a bit more reassured.
That is a scary thought! Why did the 20 election results not end up in the House? There was enough controversy regarding the results. However that happened could be used again possibly.
And Nancy Pelosi literally saved our republic by calling for the completion of the tabulation of the Electoral College results the evening of the insurrection, before Justice Alito could put a stop to it the next day as he planned to do. Is it any wonder that he then flew an upside down US flag at his home?
Alito's plan has only recently become public. He is a traitor, as are all of the officials and foot soldiers who executed the attack on the Capitol and the attempt to submit fake electoral college votes. EDIT: the plan was exposed by Sydney Powell in September of 2021 !!!!!!! See this Newsweek article:
I didn't know that, James. Wow. A big bonus to Joe Biden winning again will be the extended years of finishing trump's prosecutions and all the scums who helped in someway. He's got to expand the court with four (4) more justices which we can overturn Dobbs. It's literally a matter of life or death for women. I wonder how many never-trumpers might have been created by either being one of these women who was forced to make a dangerous drive for an abortion or a member of their families? There are so many cases to reverse Dobbs with, that'll be easy. I'd also love for some legal penalty to be imposed on Alito, Thomas, and their enablers.
Alito's wife was likely talking to Ginny Thomas about the planned putsch and they were going to coerce their hubbies into ruling for the putsch putz's were it to come to a SCOTUS vote. What a mess we are in! We can thank Leonard Leo and the rest of the far right transactionalists.
Here is a Newsweek article dated Sep 27, 2021, in which Sydney Powell gives the details of the plan for Alito to issue an injunction in order to throw the 2020 election to Donald Trump. Pelosi foiled their plans. Then Alito's flag went up upside down. WHY IS THE PRESS NOT WRITING ABOUT THIS NON-STOP?
There was no authentic controversy. Some people saying “Let’s pretend Trump really won” does not make a controversy for Congress to resolve. Especially when every court to consider the issue blew the Trumpites away.
That is true. The point, however, is that the fake controversy almost overthrew our republic, as we all know. Let's hope the growing state prosecutions of the fake elector schemes bear fruit that can be used to augment the pending federal and state cases against Done Trump.
Several of the primary producers of Kringle ship tons of their fine pastry every year. It ain't cheap, but you can get yours in a day or two. Racine is the main source, and there are several producers. We have our favorite producers. I could name names, but you can't really go wrong. If you are lucky enough to have access to Trader Joe's, you'll spend less. It freezes well -- we've been keeping about a quarter out, and freezing the rest. It comes out of the freezer tasting almost as good as new.
We need to be laser focused on winning the November election. Trump wants to wear us down so we don't care or aren't watching that he wants to shred the constitution. We cannot let him or Republicans do that. And we need a blue Congress and Senate.
I lost my comments Louise and am in tears at the moment. I had a good rant going! Damn.
Anyway, did anyone hear about the two professors in Texas who are suing to fail their pregnant female students if they miss class to attend a healthcare appointment?
Thanks for the update dear Joyce!! Good news from Wisconsin!! No surprise from Judge Delay Cannon in Florida although it gets so damn old. It is quite amazing though how you never hear a single bad word out of Trump's mouth about her isn't it?! He knows better doesn't he?! Talk about double standards. So disgusting. Hope Judge Merchan denies the revocation of the Gag order. He needs to stay gagged. Permanently.
Plus we're all still waiting on SCOTUS. Tick-tock. Looking forward to Friday too.
As long as Aileen Canon is on the SD FL case, I don't think we're going to get a conviction - as obvious as the issues clearly are. Aileen Canon, makes it apparent everyday she's in way over her head in this case. I'd love to know what her Administrative Judge has discussed with her regarding the pacing of this high-profile case. Yes, this is an unusual case w/ a fmr President who, himself, is impulsive and incoherent and there's also the inexperience with CISA issues that rarely show up in districts outside of WD.C. Then there's the unexplainable behavior. I've never seen amici invited to participate in a trial-level hearing, like they are for this one. What sense does it make when, at this basic level, any proposition they argue for is potentially overturned anyway in the appeals process and they gain nothing from their appearance? The amici been given a total of an hour and a half in this hearing to argue the validity of Jack Smith's appointment. I wonder if when Jack Smith gets the "ruling" from this hearing, if this will finally be enough (in addition to her previous two in 2022 off-the-beaten-path, illogical pro-trump rulings, for which they excoriated her) to prove to the eleventh circuit she should be recused. Since we won't have this case tried before the election, we'll now have time to get a competent, fair judge which could really make a winning difference. We could get a fair jury in this district.
I'm dreading hearing what Scotus is going to do with what clearly should have been a simple refusal to hear such an outlandish trumped-up assertion. Give us a break.
I think these three are the people provably responsible for the scheme in Wisconsin, not the 10 electors themselves.
Hoping/expecting the suit against electors maybe forthcoming - perhaps buttressed by the additional evidence that will surely result from prosecuting this action.
But it is possible too, that they are very small fry, and/or have turned state’s evidence.
Of course pursuing legal accountability also presumably has the added benefit of deterrence. Hopefully, with perhaps our most consequential election in sight, these efforts will have the desired effect in deterring those who would again try to take a foundational right and privilege from us.
With the prospect of a thoroughly dissolute mad dog with a string of felony convictions getting ready to pounce on the country and go on a revenge tour should he win again by hook or by crook, we need to take Wisconsin's motto at its word and concentrate on what's ahead rather than what's in the rear view window. Holding Trump and his co-conspirators accountable for attempting to overthrow the 2020 election is not going to happen before November.
With only a few months left, we need to move forward to what's ahead of us. rather than dwell on past events, as Trump and the Republicans would want us to do.
As I see it, while the economy, immigration and Joe's age are all debatable issues, the one issue that I believe has the ability to totally turn the tide to Joe Biden and the Democrats in the House and those up for re-election in the Senate is abortion, and the homogeneous blocks of voters who can create the critical mass to drive the pro-abortion votes are women and the youth.
White male fire-and-brimstone evangelists and state theocracy supporters have taken control of the Republican Party to dictate to the women of our country what they can and cannot do with their bodies, not unlike what we're seeing in Iran. States are dictating that women must give birth at the risk of their own lives, that women must give birth where the fetus was the result of a rape, and that women are subjected to criminal prosecution if they violate the strict abortion restrictions legislated by the white male religious fanatics in their states.
I believe that this issue has the greatest opportunity and likelihood of galvanizing the largest block of supporters across the nation to enable all of us, in the spirit of Wisconsin's motto, to move forward in preserving the rights of all individuals to make their own personal decisions rather than allow an oligarchy of male elders to arbitrarily dictate those decisions for them.
If women cannot and do not rise up loud on this issue, we will be living back in medieval times. Shame on us! We need more women in government who will speak up against the wing nut religious fanatic men who are in Congress. They all speak the godly talk, but do not live it. They do not live the principles and tenets of their own faiths. That in itself is “sinful.”
My dearly departed husband believed in strong women, married one and helped to raise one. As well as a son with the same principles. I am so thankful for that gift in our lives.
This religious fever is evident in our pledge of allegiance, on our money, etc. yet we are not a nation that has a “national” religion. The history of colonial Massachusetts and Rhode Island is quite interesting when it comes to the early fight for the right to religious freedom. So many of our representatives do not know our history and govern with their own interests at heart and not those of the people who elected them.
I couldn't have said it better! I am grateful that your late husband was the kind of man he was. My husband raised two sons with his first wife, and they are both very good with women. I believe out problems (the erosion)started with Eisenhower adding "underGod" to our pledge of allegiance, and it has just gone downhill from there. I remember that my parents didn't like that addition to the pledge of allegiance, and I also dislike it. I thought one of the major points in the founding of our country was that there would be no state religion, and IMO, if the current members of congress were to somehow change the country so it reflected their stated beliefs, we would be in big trouble. We already are.
Since there's no such thing as a "President Trump" right now, you'd think that whole letter would be invalid. It's referring to a person who doesn't exist.
I say bring it on. Since so many think he's still president, he should not be eligible to run for office for a third term.
Maybe Chesebro will soon be eating cheese with his bros in a state penitentiary.
Haha!
Your Kringle looks like comfort food to me. We are going to need a lot of comfort food this year.
Where can I find the recipe?
I get mine from O & H Danish Bakery -- they ship and their products are delicious! (www.ohdanishbakery.com)
Good point!
And appropriating what looks like the presidential seal and all the flags everywhere. He really is delusional.
Copy of The Oval Office at Mar-a-Lago!
I listened to that same podcast, it was fascinating. I worked in a county juvenile court system many years ago and read many pre-sentencing reports…they are very detailed, even at that level. His description of peeing in a cup in a room with many mirrors and in front of the probation officer made me smile!
Sorry Carol, but that kind of thinking is really" Juvenile" But quite funny.
That's all part of Trumplethinskin's con. While in office, I recall him raling against the accomodations at the White House, but the trappings of power are a heady brew for the narcissist wanna be dictator.
Someone needs to look into that!
We don’t refer to President Obama any more?
Mitchell, some people refer to "President Obama," but he did not commit crimes and was not indicted 88 times and convicted of 34 counts. Obama does not use the title of "President" as a way to let people think he has more power than a regular Citizen has; Trump does. It is in no way equivalent!
The key difference in title is how it relates to the Drumph Big Lie that he "won" the 2020 election.
When anyone refers to Agolf Shitler as "President" it supports his lie that he still is "President" and by default, Joe Biden is not.
In contrast, Barack Obama does not hold nazi-style rallies pretending to still be President.
Mr. Obama is usually referred to as "former President".
After his Presidency, President Eisenhower was often called General Eisenhower, his pre-presidency title. While it’s common to refer to former presidents as President, in Trump’s case, he should only be referred to as Felon.
Eisenhower specifically asked to be called General rather than President when he left the White House.
No
Robert Hubbell refers to him as Convicted Felon Donald Trump.
A friend suggested we only refer to him as Convicted Felon trump. I like that!
The U.S. has, since Truman, began retaining a former president’s title.
I like Emily's take on it. AP says the same thing, so...that's my story and I'm sticking to it!
Peeves me to no end when his toadies refer to him in this way. Guess Blanche is trying mighty hard to get paid.
*wish*
What infuriated me is that the letter clearly implies that the gag order violates Trump's First Amendment rights, which it does not. Trump should be able to do what normal people do, including not insulting, slandering and threatening others.

Emily Post disagrees with you on that last point. They're addressed directly as Mr (and one day Ms) LastName, and referred to as "former President LastName."
Emily Post died in 1960.
"In past years, some guidebooks on manners maintained that in the U.S., the title should be reserved for the incumbent president only, and should not be used for former presidents, holding that it was not proper to use the title as a courtesy title when addressing a former president. Ah, but her institute lives on, and has a recent article on the matter. AP also says otherwise. *shrug*
👏👏👏
There is only so much self righteous abuse of power any of us can take. She should have known better than to talk politics in a healthcare setting, but then again she had obviously drunk that MAGA media Kool Aid.
Good for you Gloria! An *excellent* response! Sounds like you learned you need to know the political beliefs of your medical professionals, lest you allow fucking morons to touch your vitals.
Yep my ancient doc who did save my life in the 1990s, recently told me he was an anti vaxxer. Beside other issues, I’m seeing a new doc tomorrow.
This ancient public health nurse is proud of you!
Thank you. 🙏
You should report him to the A.M.A. - American Medical Association.
Thank God, common sense kicked in.
Oh beat her up next time. lol.
Brava Gloria ! I felt like I was right there,
griming the whole time !!!
Wtf
Isn’t it astounding? They are like cockroaches.
She is a new hire to do preliminary work. I still can’t believe I was sitting in a room with a disgusting, perverted traitor to my country.
I gag every time I think about it. ugh
I've found that the MAGAs assume if you are Caucasian like they are, you are a MAGA, too.
Oh yeah, I used to put on my "USN Vet" baseball hat and go out to Planes of Fame after everything there went Trump, and most people thought I was just a member of the crowd. Older white male military vet. You betcha.
So true.
My doctor is a diehard liberal. How in the world did he hire her?!?
You can buy another doctor Gloria, but none of us can buy another conscience. Well done!👏👏👏🏅
Thank you.
Good all over you! This is what needs to be done by all of us now. No more playing nice with these fools.
Report her to your state's nursing licensing board. She may not have violated any regulations, but she sure violated our code of ethics.
I was told that my newly-found, highly-recommended and much-liked doctor was a Republican. A shadow dimmed my previous delight.
However, I discovered that both she (and her surgeon husband) were fans of and subscribers to Heather Cox Richardson's Substack columns.
The shadow disappeared.
Prior to the ascent of Trump, I can't say that my doctor's (or plumber's) political affiliation would have bothered me. Now it does.
That's just one small indication of how much Trump has divided us.
We "good ole' Republicans need a new party name.
Oh boy, good for you!!!! How can anyone defend Trump? You did the right thing!
Good for you. I would do the same thing and I’d never trust a medical practitioner who supports Former president trump.
Omygosh. It is scary and infuriating when one encounters so many seemingly intelligent people who support Trump. It's incomprehensible to me.
What that nurse did is so not OK.
Yeah, duh
“We attract more flies with honey than vinegar”
Flies are probably more attracted to a rotten carcass than to honey. Thus the attraction to Trump.
Some one needs to stamp a big L on his forehead in indelible ink
Perhaps an F for felon. Didn’t they use to brand criminals? Seems like the kind of history the Supreme Court relies on.
an F would be fine, but I think an L for loser would destroy donald trump, he keeps saying he is not a loser.
Fay, I would be OK with an "L" on one side of his face and an "f" on the other (the "f" lower case so no one will think he is praising Florida).
Hester Prynne
So, you are into branding people now?
M for moron, too!
There's a long line of human beings engaging in that same thought.
Thank you for the laugh. Would never think of calling him a goddamned goober.
He'll always be the orange cocksplat to me. It makes me think of the Scots flying a Mexican flag over his golf course and calling him that.
Yay TC. You're preaching to the choir!
He's completely inorganic...
Tom, I can’t agree mor with your sentiments!!!
Early rapture....
This is one of your Canadian cousins who
just sighed with relief.
Good work !
Thank You, neighbor.
David,
I've also heard about WI getting back to pre-gerrymandered.
We flipped our state supreme court from conservative to liberal in 2022. They ruled the gerrymandering violated our state constitution.
And it was the most expensive political campaign of its kind in history. Thanks to Citizens United.
We have good friends in WI and they too are hopeful about this turn-around….and equally disgusted with Ron Johnson.
Ron Johnson is among the rest of the people who didnt want to certify if i recall. He needs to be charged as well
I agree that Ron Johnson should also be charged. I hope we get more detail later like they're still working on analysing additional facts.
At a minimum, Johnson is a material witness who will have to testify under penalty of perjury. Also "The wife of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas contacted at least two Wisconsin state lawmakers, including the chair of the Senate elections committee, urging them to overturn President Joe Biden’s 2020 election." https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/ginni-thomas-emails-show-she-urged-wisconsin-lawmakers-to-oveturn-2020-election
So shouldn’t Ginny be charged as well?
I’m glad to hear that someone could be an actual witness against clarence’s wife……
D.O. - Ron Johnson is scary.
Yes he is! He's nuts..
Shifty, dishonest.
I wonder why he wasn't. Perhaps they just haven't got direct evidence yet. If they get the staffer to testify they just might.
You are such a ballast, Joyce Vance, in this disturbingly treacherous world. Never anticipated that our USA would be this corrupted by so many greedy, amoral people who lust for power over protecting democracy and/or the safety and survival of this planet 🌎.
Thank you.
Fauci won two awards: the Medal of Freedom from Obama and another from Trump.
I have no interest in owning a gun, probably will never own a gun, but still…
What if a person already owns a gun and gets involved in drugs AFTER? Are they obligated to get rid of their gun?
Yeah…that would happen, right?!! Oh here officer, let me
Turn in My gun cause now I smoke the weed. 😂😂😂😂
And yet, Republicans fought closing the gun show loophole which would have allowed drug users, anybody, to purchase a gun.
They cannot single out one person.
Definitely Jr.
Because, Kay, the maggots did not control the House of Representatives for the first two years.
And Nancy Pelosi literally saved our republic by calling for the completion of the tabulation of the Electoral College results the evening of the insurrection, before Justice Alito could put a stop to it the next day as he planned to do. Is it any wonder that he then flew an upside down US flag at his home?
True, I along with millions of us watched that on TV into the wee morning hours
Alito's plan has only recently become public. He is a traitor, as are all of the officials and foot soldiers who executed the attack on the Capitol and the attempt to submit fake electoral college votes. EDIT: the plan was exposed by Sydney Powell in September of 2021 !!!!!!! See this Newsweek article:
https://www.newsweek.com/sidney-powell-drags-justice-samuel-alito-supreme-court-january-6-mess-1632896
By participating in that “plan”, Alito participated in the insurrection and should be indicted!
Given his unique position, Alito is the greatest traitor in the history of the United States. Given the stakes, I can think of no one who comes close.
https://www.newsweek.com/sidney-powell-drags-justice-samuel-alito-supreme-court-january-6-mess-1632896
Here is a Newsweek article dated Sep 27, 2021, in which Sydney Powell gives the details of the plan for Alito to issue an injunction in order to throw the 2020 election to Donald Trump. Pelosi foiled their plans. Then Alito's flag went up upside down. WHY IS THE PRESS NOT WRITING ABOUT THIS NON-STOP?
https://www.newsweek.com/sidney-powell-drags-justice-samuel-alito-supreme-court-january-6-mess-1632896
Fay 😀
There was no authentic controversy. Some people saying “Let’s pretend Trump really won” does not make a controversy for Congress to resolve. Especially when every court to consider the issue blew the Trumpites away.
That is true. The point, however, is that the fake controversy almost overthrew our republic, as we all know. Let's hope the growing state prosecutions of the fake elector schemes bear fruit that can be used to augment the pending federal and state cases against Done Trump.
If you don’t know already know, Trader Joe’s carries Kringle from Wisconsin!
Can’t wait to try my local TJ during the holiday season!
So does Aldi!!! 😋
It's very yummy. We have a TJ's 5 min. from us, and it can be a dangerous place. Many good treats 😋
We get one every year!
Joyce, thank you for all you do. You provide facts and analysis of vital importance to concerned citizens.
We need to be laser focused on winning the November election. Trump wants to wear us down so we don't care or aren't watching that he wants to shred the constitution. We cannot let him or Republicans do that. And we need a blue Congress and Senate.
Louise - Hear Ye Hear Ye
💙🇺🇸💙
I want the judge to do whatever is most legally defensible in the appeal, since I want the conviction to stick to Felon Trump forever and ever.
There were ten fake electors in Wisconsin...I'm wondering why only three of them are being charged with conspiring to commit felony forgery.
*I should have said “these are three OF the people provably responsible” suspect there were many more in involved.
Love ya, Joyce! Thanks for keeping us updated and on the good path!
Of course pursuing legal accountability also presumably has the added benefit of deterrence. Hopefully, with perhaps our most consequential election in sight, these efforts will have the desired effect in deterring those who would again try to take a foundational right and privilege from us.
It's now crunch time!
You’re on to the point !
Americas political decline began when we the people allowed the subliminal erosion of the separation of church and state!
Also, an issue I heard was "Do you want a convicted felon sitting in your White House"?
This is going to be an on-going thing for the foreseeable future.
I love the chicken mug👏👏💜
We still need prayers for our country and constitution🙏🏼☮️🙏🏼☮️🙏🏼
Pray all you want, but it takes a lot more than prayers to save democracy.
At least it is a start…..☮️
You are right ZeusEB - It all helps. I do that as well.
