Joyce Vance. Where is the moderation on your substack? Someone has posted comments saying that gun owning is a good tactic for solving political problems. I propose MLK's nonviolent resistance as a better tactic and he tells me I'm absurd.

So some people feel that they have to vote for a criminal because they think that a criminal and sex predator will lower their grocery bill? BEWARE”Thinking like that”. And ask your self when did he lower the price of potat, or milk or carrots? But remember he did lower taxes on the top 1% and increase you cost of living. Mom s beware he is also a serial liar.

He has no plan to fix anything, other than imposing many tariffs, which he thinks OTHER countries will pay for. He doesn’t understand what a tariff is, which is a sales tax, and who pays it, WE do. What an ignoramus!!! And cult followers believe this, and him. No wonder he LOVES the uneducated!!!

Ignorant cult followers. The fact that 111 former national security officials who worked in Republican Presidential administrations, along with former Republican members of Congress, endorsed Kamala Harris will never be known by most people. It won't be reported on Fox. Won't be reported by MSM in most of rural America..

I am originally from the wasteland, i. e. Lawrence County, Pa., where Trump won in 2020 by 2 to 1. Other counties in Penssyltucky were worse. Kamala surrogates need to visit all the small towns in WPa., and in all the blue wall states. Visit the local media. Make local news.

Kathleen, the moderation [NOT] department of Substack Inc exists in name only. Like many platforms, moderation of any kind. threats of violence, 3rd party torts like defamation or just clear violations of Sunstack Inc's own TERMS of Service (TOS) are ignored because Platforms believe they have a get-out-jail-free card in Section 230 that treasured defense which platforms cling to like a life raft but, was entirely destroyed by a recent 3rd Circuit of Appeals in Pennsylvania. I warned Substack Inc back in 2022-23 state & federal law was catching up with them

The recent revelation by the Department of Treasury pinpointing 6 private, well known U.S. mouth pieces being paid by a Putin Front, TENET MEDIA, that set its Agit Prop operation in the good old state of Tennessee. That major U.S. Agency action made some Trolls leave LFAA.

2 of the 6 "useful idiots" claimed they were duped & had" no idea" they were compromised by the Big Bucks for producing monthly propaganda. Notably, 4 of the 6 are dead silent.

CASEY NEWTON is the current expert on "anything goes" anti-social media. CASEY's gig is aptly titled "PLATFORMER". You may recall Casey felt compelled leave Substack Inc. over the Platforms failure to "moderate" Nazi voices.

The U.S. DOJ has set up a D.C. contact point to report threats of violence. I am currently reporting an express threat of violence to the FBI which also has a unit with acronym,"IC3".

I get that Kathleen, TCinLA has explained in detail how he keeps Trolls off his Platform, TAFM. My belief is that Authors Like Joyce, like Heather, like you & me have contractual responsibilities as defined as "Authors".

At bottom Substack Inc has tried to shift the moderation duty to Authors. State & Federal law is just catching up with their neglect.

Look abroad as well & witness the multiple felonies pressed against PAVEL DUROV under French Law & French law only.

Well, Trump hasn't ordered the troops to fire on us yet, so what's the issue? Owning a gun does not change the political environment. Nonviolent resistance can change the political environment. MLK Junior showed us that was true.

I’m not sure why you believe this comment should be removed. The Democratic Party is not all pacifists, and self-defense is valid to many of us. I have considered buying a gun, myself…so sue me. My husband and I ultimately decided against it, but not because of any ethical qualms. Maybe you live in a blue state, who knows, but we live in Georgia. What happened to diversity of opinion?

Perhaps those of us with ties to Jewish family (my husband and children) and friends may be more attuned to this sort of threat and more apt to consider defending ourselves. Why don’t you answer my question below.

Expand full comment

Bill Katz, I believe I understand your sentiment. I worry about the crazed militia types who believe they are patriots when they talk about violently overthrowing the US government. I don't like to use the word "hate", but I would hate to be confronted by armed goons who might threaten my family and me.

Toward the end of my Army tour in Vietnam I decided that if I survived and returned home I would never kill anything again ever (to be clear, I was not a "grunt", I worked in intelligence and I certainly contributed to the war effort). I returned home in the summer of 1970. It took until early 1975 to finally stop eating meat. Next January I will have been a vegetarian for half a century.

I am quite certain that there are more than a few of those violent low-information people out there. I don't want to have my old M16, or any kind of firearm -- except my Mother's old .22 rifle that her father gave to her when she was a girl. Sentimental value. I think a part got lost -- I may seek a gunsmith who could get the thing into working order again. So far, since I inherited it I have paid no more attention to it.

I have vast contempt for the bullies who would threaten violence against anyone with whom they disagree politically. I never want to see another war. If it were up to me, America's affair with gun ownership would take a severe turn toward strict control. To me, a "well-regulated militia" means the National Guard, or the Army Reserve, despite what the Supreme Court says.

Having said all that, another fear is that our Law Enforcement people might be divided regarding which side they are on -- to defend us local citizens, or to join the roving bands of thrill seekers who would ignore the law of the land and like vigilantes, take matters into their own hands, according to their own "lights" and "thinking".

We should hope that it will never become necessary to defend ourselves and our families from misguided violent extremists.

Expand full comment

To me the "well-regulated" phrase rings a bell. That part of that amendment seems to be left out of any conversation, doesnt it?

"Buying a gun" should only be the beginning - getting instruction on how to use it SAFELY around yourself, family, friends, pets - which is more important even than self-defense. If having a gun is the whole point - you could be a danger to anyone and everyone you care about. Gun safety is IMPORTANT~

Expand full comment

Maggie

"...To me the "well-regulated" phrase rings a bell. That part of that amendment seems to be left out of any conversation, doesn't it?..."

I agree. "A well-regulated militia" does not refer to a ragtag band of gun enthusiasts, nor to a band of pseudo patriots, nor to a single person who wants to keep a gun handy for defense of their home.

I feel the same! And then I will leave the country behind me. My initial thoughts are Portugal. If, by some chance, the felon gets elected it means that there is too much hate in this country. Too many racist attitudes. The felon is nothing more than a racist hate monger! He only wants to deport black and brown people. And importantly, he is just trying to stay out of jail and he has billionaire as*holes backing him and a very criminal “supreme” court in his corner. Harris brings me hope but my country does not.

I’m thinking a lot of people in red states are going to detect a moron when they see him enough.

trump receded to the background when Harris’s made her spectacular entry.

But since the debate, he has reclaimed some of the spotlight. Unfortunately (for him) his shortcomings are on full display and seem to be getting more media play.

Examples:

—every time jd opens his mouth ( sooner or later people will realize that if they vote for Trump they will quickly get President Vance;)

—seeing Hawaii from California;

—conflating Anwar/Anbar ( names and places in Afghanistan and iraq ) with ANWR ( AlaskaNational Wildlife Reserve ) and calling ANWR Bagram ( former US air base in Afghanistan )

—his felonious nature — like Routh being a convicted felon he can’t own a gun but is campaigning to have the nuclear football,

—sharks and jumping thereof;

—the chaos terrorist attack on Springfield OH (Jd’s CONSTITUENTS, for crying out loud!)

—more and more people ‘splaining Project 2025, and people realizing it amounts to putting govt in charge of religion and vice versa and wondering whether we shouldn’t just undo the American Revolution and go back to being English.
