Yes, so thankful that NC elected a team of strong leaders for this critical juncture in our democracy. I will never figure out how Harris/Walz lost the North Carolina election………..???
So rewarding to see the courts stand up to injustice. Sadly, they cannot defeat hatred. Brown v. Bd of Education stopped segregation … but it only encouraged more virulent racism. Trump welcomed back both hatred and virulence. WE must follow up and create a place where justice can return.
I am WORRIED, TERRIFIED of President Zelensky going to meet Trump in Saudi Arabia. Why meet there? I am worried it’s another trap and he won’t make it out alive. Remember what happened to Khashoggi?
Am I wrong to feel this way?
We need to ALL call the House Republicans and inform them NOW! They are being blindsided. Tell them Trump/Vance and Musk need to be STOPPED. They are destroying our democracy under the false guise of efficiency & cutting waste.
Mario, you’re not alone in your fear. Zelenskyy is really smart, and I think he is aware of the potential traps potentially being set up. Trump and Putin would really be stupid to set him up at this point - there are too many of us who don’t trust either of them. Terrible move on both of them.
The problem is what can WE do? Trump doesn’t care what the courts or anyone else thinks or he wouldn’t have repeatedly disobeyed the courts or the law in the first place.
I don’t have the answer, but Putin and Trump aren’t that stupid and neither is Zelenskyy. Most of the Western World saw the trap set by trump and vance when Zelenskyy’s visit to sign a peace deal was highjacked.

Last Night:
Well Marlo, in addition to courts saying "No'" the stock market is also saying "No" -- "No" to brainless tariffs as the DOW was down🔻 another 1% today (.99)🔻 3/6/25.
Sitting next to a map of the Gulf of America (No) Wreck put a "pause" on Canada-Mexico tariffs until April 2, 2025. That means a 180 reversal.
China Tariffs of 10% are still on & China's 15% retaliation too.
Why not April Fools Day is the only question. You know the fool on the Hill.

He can be held in contempt of court, and if that doesn’t work, he can be arrested. I don’t know how that would work considering the SCOTUS decision, but it’s worth a try.
No chance he can be arrested. First who will arrest him? He runs the legal system except the courts and a few Capitol police officers who report to Congress. Second he has immunity while President or so the SCOTUS said. No one is going to arrest him even if they should.
(a)It is the primary role and mission of the United States Marshals Service to provide for the security and to obey, execute, and enforce all orders of the United States District Courts, the United States Courts of Appeals, the Court of International Trade, and the United States Tax Court, as provided by law.
So what punishment would he get for being “in contempt?” None. He’s the president. He can’t be put in jail. They wouldn’t even hear his court cases because it was too close to the election. Then, because he won the election.
If there WAS a punishment. WHO would enforce it? He is the president. He is surrounded by loyalists. Furthermore, his actions are now protected by “immunity” thanks to the corrupt Supreme Court.
Duh... cmon Daniel, you know that impeachment requires 50%+1 vote of Congress and 2/3 of the Senate to convict. There simply aren't enough votes to do that.
Nothing happened to him for Khashoggi’s death. Trump did nothing. Most likely that was why Jared Kushner received the $2billion; it was a “thank you” for not holding him accountable.
I hope you are right. What Trump is doing to Ukraine is horrid. I don't know how, but we need to stop him from giving Ukraine to Putin. I, too, am terrified for Zelenskyy's safety.
I don’t think that meeting in Saudi Arabia should take place. And yes, one cannot forget what happened to Khashoggi. I definitely think it a trap and the Zelenzki will not make it alive. While in Ukraine there were several attempts to kill him. Putin and Trump want him dead.
I was shocked Trump is deporting 200,000 Ukrainians. He is a cruel, hateful, inhumane “thing.” It’s sending them to their death.
So unfortunate they are sitting ducks without military intelligence or satellite communication. Trump is trying to ENSURE Ukraine loses to Russia. And Russia has announced they will not negotiate. HAH! They don.’t have to. Trump is bending over backwards to give Russia everything they could want. Time Magazine should have the bloated faces of Trump, JD Vance & Musk on the cover with “The Most Hated Men in the World.”
Mary Trump...Dr Brandy Lee ..warned us years ago of pino ' s deficits of human behavior, Marlo.. " ,AHHHH..we thought...no one can possibly be THAT PERVERSE???". We just had to learn the hard way....and some, quite sadly, have yet to open their eyes to the dangers before them even now.
John Brennan mentioned this right after the Oval Office meeting. He, too, feared that without US Intelligence keeping him apprised of threats, he may be assassinated. What a sad state of affairs.
Summoning President Zelenskyy to Saudi Arabia is the same as summoning him to the woodshed. It’s a power play designed to humiliate Zelenskyy and show him — and the world — who’s boss.
Elon Musk, JD Vance, and Peter Thiel are executing a long-planned agenda to take over the government. Donald Trump is just a dementia-addled old man along for the ride, ranting about windmills and magnets and taking over canals, and content to just sign large pieces of papers for the TV cameras all day.
And of course, Mr. Zelenskyy is Jewish … something well appreciated by the Saudis (they murder more than Arab journalists) and all the Trump/Musk/Vance bigots.
I didnt realize that had been decided. Honestly, I continue to question why is he meeting with dump at all at this point? I know its still up in the air regarding how much EU etc can cover what the US wont, BUT where is the positive in this meeting? And as you said going to that country? I hope he is being watched over.
The kids will be alright. It's my grandchildren I'm worried about. I've sworn that they will not grow up under a T**** regime, and I will do anything necessary to keep that promise. I will be just another soldier in a huge army of citizens who will not let this travesty continue.
I worry about our grandchildren too. We have a granddaughter who is almost 3, and another who was just born 4 days ago -- I look at those lovely innocent faces and think we must save America for you - and clean air and water and decency and civil rights.
I hear you. We have four grandsons, ages 13-22, and I really feel for them and also for their parents, who are still young enough that they will be around for a while.
Lets all remember, the world has always been full of crap. Imagine what parents said when nero was running around. Someone is born who moves forward....now, it may take 1000 years but eventually it DOES happen...
You are very fortunate. My granddaughter is a freshman at college & I can not imagine the world she'll have to live in or more likely fight to just survive in!
I hear you. I have 3 grandchildren 2 of whom serve in the military. They are terrified, outraged and livid. I doubt any of the 3 plan to have children.
I’m more afraid for my Kids, grandkids and great grandkids at this part of my life. I’m almost 80 and live on a limited income with SS and a small pension. I’m already living on a shoestring.
The recent Supreme Court decision on one of the suits was 5-4. That is terrifying. It shows how close we are to anarchy. If four of the justices do not understand the Constitution, what can we do? They likely can't be impeached (though at least three of the most corrupt of them deserve just that) and, given the current holder of the Oval Office, any retirements would only be replaced with even worse candidates, who would be rubber stamped by the Senate. While it might also hurt justices who are seated by a normal president and Senate (and there is nothing normal about the current situation) it is time for both term limits and age limits for Supreme Court justices.
As I understand it, what trump is doing by refusing to distribute funds to USAID, is his usual pattern of stiffing people/companies that have done work for him. The funds he is refusing to disburse are for services already performed. A perfect example of why we don't need a CEO as our president. I'm ready to see the courts do whatever they can to enforce their orders.
I cannot forget the steelworkers who built his buildings, and then told to sue him for the wages he would not pay them. How he survived that I will never understand. The Teamsters would have done a Jimmy Hoffa on him.
Trump's comment to Roberts after his speech on Tuesday about not forgetting what Roberts did for him and Roberts hastily leaving might have consequences, perhaps promoting spinal column growth???
You’re right. Consequences have already occurred. I think it made him more than uncomfortable & that’s why Robert’s joined the other 4 to unfreeze the $2 billion.
I don’t think he “thinks” ANYTHING through. He’s a brainless idiot. Look at the “whiplash tariffs.” Look at the thousands of firings in the different agencies and then frantically calling them back. Look at the major expense flying those few immigrants on the military planes (illegally, btw) to make it look powerful, only to have it quietly stop after the expense was revealed (hypocritical when they are supposed to be saving the government money!).
Saying what he said to Justice Robert’s burned his bridges.
So ... I hope the First Circuit Court of Appeals, to whom Trump will appeal Judge McConnell's decision, takes a lesson from SCOTUS and sloooooowwwwww walks its deliberations (likely upholding McConnell's decision) til the first day of SCOTUS's next recess this coming June/July, so the lawless six (In)justices don't get to overturn it til October. A lot of good can happen between now and October if we work at it.
Though it feels as if it could happen, it is clear to me that Trump should be impeached for his failure to faithfully execute the laws passed by Congress. Maybe someday enough people will agree and pressure our Representatives to act.
Roy, Impeachment is not possible until Democrats control both chambers of Congress. I recommend you focus your attention and efforts to bring that about in 2026. You won’t be alone. Many, many of us will be working alongside you.
I am afraid that at this rate we will have Russian style elections in 2024. Musk and Vought know they have a window of time before consequences start in which to ensure they are safe from all negative consequences.
Trump is stupid and mentally ill and all the rest. But Musk and Vought are really in charge and they are anything but stupid.
Thank you Joyce. I hope you schedule some rest somehow. Here is what we are doing in Illinois, a very deep blue state. I belong to a group of activists here in Evanston who meet every morning on Google Meet to review our scripts on what we are going to call about (usually voice mail) and write on the contact form emails to our Senators, Durbin and Duckworth, and great Congresswoman, Jan Schackowsky. Then, we contact our Democratic State Attorney General, Kwame Raoul, and the relevant State Treasurer, State Director of Public Health, or State Director of Education about the topic of the day. It's very important if you are contacting your elected Senators and Reps in DC, you also contact your State Attorney General. They are the people leading the charge against the musk/trump/vance regime.
If we learn that musk is planning to travel out of DC, it would probably be to SFO where he has a home and businesses in Silicon Valley. You could contact your Democratic State Attorney General on the Tips Line. He could be met by California State Police. It's crazy - but we are doing our best to somehow fight back however we can.
Linda in Evanston IL, what a super group you have. Impressive and powerful. I’m noticing here that my many of my friends seem passive almost frozen in horror. I’m trying my best to light a fire for taking action with them, but I’ve found it’s a bit like trying to light a fire with wet wood.
Linda, that's amazing!! I'm really hoping that, once I'm done with capital gains stuff (argh), I can get back into the fray with more energy - and you & your activist group are inspiring!
I'll chip in a big box of your favorote healthy dog chews!! Just let me know. I have some cash now, since settling with homeowners insurace after losing it all in the Eaton fire. Pulling out a little here and there for a good cause is OK.
I believe one of the most important thing to focus on right now is to urge all congress to reject the SAVE act. It would disenfranchise millions of people, predominantly women. Then the other most important thing is to focus on saving Social Security.
How would the SAVE Act impact US Citizens?
Under the Republican proposal, common forms of identification, including a driver's license, would become insufficient for voter registration because they don’t prove citizenship. Real ID licenses in most states indicate someone's legal status but do not show whether they are a U.S. citizen or green card holder.
Instead, the bill would require those registering to vote to either present a valid passport or a photo ID that matches the name on their birth certificate or naturalization card.
Only about half of U.S. citizens have a passport, according to the U.S. Department of State.
Voting rights advocates have expressed concern that people who have changed their name and who do not have passports could run into roadblocks in the process of registering to vote because the name on their ID likely no longer reflects the name on their birth certificate.
About 79% of women in opposite-sex marriages take the name of their spouse, according to a 2023 study by Pew Research, whereas most married men – 92% – keep their own last name.
It's insanity. When I was first married in Ohio in the Seventies, you had to use your husband's last name to register. Not sure how long that lasted, but I took my name back when I got divorced.
Yes, this SAVE act is just another part of the plan. If you can't dumb down all the voters, then make it hard for those who see through the BS to vote at all. The last thing MAGA wants is an informed electorate.
I call my representative several times a week. As I'm watching the news I jot down 2 or 3 things that especially upset me & call & tell the office person how I feel. I've called so often they recognize my name. I apologize for being a pest but they always tell me that it's fine to call in as often as I want. I told one young lady that I was sure there was a star next to my name for being such a pest & the next time I called in she said, "Oh, your the person that said you should have a star next to her name!" So you build rapport with the office staff. That helps I think.
They keep records of the items & atrocities that people complain about & they give them to the congressperson. They need that data. Usually if you call more than once about a subject it doesn't necessarily get counted again but they still pass on your views. Like I said they need data to give your rep so that they can be forceful when presenting their case in the halls of Congress.
Well, I finally nerved myself to call, and I talked about social security. I got to leave a long message for one, my message got cut off about half way through to the other, and then I got to talk to an actual person when I called Jared Huffman! He sounded very sympathetic, and got my name, number & email address! Maybe that will give me the strength to keep doing it - I HATE calling strangers!
Jocelyn, I hate calling strangers too, but remember that our representatives are not strangers: they are elected to represent US, (even when we didin't vote for them). In order for them to do that, we have to let them know what's important to us- even when we know they are already on it, our repeated calls give their work credibility in the eyes of the rest of their colleagues- and in their own. This is true even if the person you are calling is a Republican. Gradually, they seem to be moving away from the lock-step, and the more they hear us tell our stories and why a particular issue matters to you, the more it may make them rethink their position.
Many of the Dems don't deserve thanks. Please tell them to pull their heads out and stop being such weenies and cowards.
We DESPERATELY need a real Senate leader. Schumer is worthless (and sadly, Jeffries doesn't seem much better). Pelosi NEVER would have allowed ten of the cowardly congresscritters to suck up to the GQP criminals and sanction a fellow Dem for doing MUCH LESS than the GQP did multiple times in the recent past.
I find it astounding (and nearly unbelievable) that the party whips can't protect against this sort of rubbish. Even if they are Dems in seats on skinny margins, there are some principles that are a bit more important, aren't there? Perhaps not - the only thing a pollie cares about is their re-election.
It took Pelosi years to develop the influence and power she had. She had her style which worked for her. Schumer is hardly worthless: he works in a different way (and is a Senator now). As for Jeffries, give it time. He's doing more than the DNC rigth now in terms of keeping people informed and engaged. I don't know what the reasoning was behind the 10 Dem votes, and suspect that it likely is because they are trying to retain the possibility of collaboration across the aisle- something we are going to need. Are we going to cling to our indignation every time somebody does something that upsets us? Waste of energy. Loss of opportunity because if that's all people hear, they stop listening. And that includes people trying to get some really critical things done to help us keep our democracy. Join a group like Indivisible and do something positive. Please. We need you with us, not against us.
When I had Republican reps, I called to ask them to explain their perspective to me. In turn they had to listen to mine. Jerk-off snarks are counterproductive, and actually work against us. I hope you will rethink making this kind of recommendation. It is really a very poor strategy.
1st object to the SAFE Act as it is voter suppression.
2nd encourage aide to Ukraine. Putin is a dictator, a war criminal a liar, a murderer and he invaded a sovereign country.
The United States, UK & Russia signed the Budapest Memorandum in 1994. Ukraine agreed to give up its huge stash of nuclear warheads to Russia & Russia promised never to invade Ukraine 🇺🇦. Putin broke the agreement. He has broken many. Ukraine is our ally. We are losing are allies. 70% in France said they don’t trust the United States.
3. Ask them if they want to give up our democracy for an unbalanced dictator?
It only took Hitler a short time to change Germany’s democracy into a supreme dictatorship. Do you want your children to grow up in that environment?
4. A democracy has 3 independent branches of government. Trump is illegally trying to be King, ignoring the other branches.
He is ignoring laws. He and Vance need to be impeached. Your job is to act on behalf of the country, your constituents, not Trump. Ignore his empty threats. The people are protesting Trump, Vance & Musk all over the country. If you keep supporting him, you won’t be re-elected.
Follow Jessica Craven’s Chop Wood Carry Water on substack. She breaks it down to two actions per day, and the best part is on Sundays you get a whole long list of all the good things that happened each week.
I have written over 30 emails since January 20th. I write to my two Senators and 1 Representative, so I have written on 10 different subjects and 3 more will go out tonight. Hope they will truly begin to feel the heat.
North Carolina Attorney General Jeff Jackson is one of those who filed suit. Jeff Jackson is one of the best!
I think I still have him on an ActBlue monthly since he ran for Congress. His Substack is great and he responds clearly to serious comments. Sharp s tacks.
He is the best. He is always responsive.

There’s visible pressure growing on him. Indivisible is sponsoring “gatherings” at his offices.

You are very fortunate. My granddaughter is a freshman at college & I can not imagine the world she'll have to live in or more likely fight to just survive in!
When I was 12, John Fitzgerald Kennedy was elected. So much hope then, someone brave and eloquent to look up to … now?
First president I ever voted for, David! So young...so eloquent..so inspiring!.!
What a joy to have been alive in the captivating days of Camelot.!
Indeed! His voice, that odd Boston accent, so very eloquent. And his youth! I felt like anything was indeed possible.
And let’s not forget the hair!
We all hear you, Mary Jane!
The Teamsters would have done a Jimmy Hoffa on him.
how I wish ...
They should never have given him immunity.
It wouldn’t surprise me, the felon said the quiet part out loud.
I'm sure he was eager to show that he owed no allegiance to FFOTUS
I don’t think he “thinks” ANYTHING through. He’s a brainless idiot. Look at the “whiplash tariffs.” Look at the thousands of firings in the different agencies and then frantically calling them back. Look at the major expense flying those few immigrants on the military planes (illegally, btw) to make it look powerful, only to have it quietly stop after the expense was revealed (hypocritical when they are supposed to be saving the government money!).
Saying what he said to Justice Robert’s burned his bridges.
I wondered about that comment as well. He has gotten so brazen that he says things out loud that once would have been behind door threats.
King Chaos. What we are living through is just what it is like inside his demented brain.
just shows the sup crt is part of the coup
The Robert's Kangaroo Court. The majority continue to prove themselves to be utterly unqualified political hacks. Shameful and scary.
As an Aussie, I would like to defend kangaroos against being associated with this SCOTUS!
So, send a few kangaroos to kick their asses--and a croc or two wouldn't hurt.
Valid point. Sorry.
true
And Barrett is now being called a DEI hire because she didn't side with Trump. They really do expect this to be a kangaroo court.
it has already proven to be one
? Luigi
First " mc connell " to show some intestinal fortitude in a long long time !
Judge McConnell....you give us hope that tump can be tromped !
Well done, sir!!
Once again, I appreciate your clear explanations of the litigation and its potential meaning/effects. Ever grateful!
Happy to be a paid subscriber Joyce. You are an important player in our opposition to lawless oppression
Me too!
Me too!
Me too!
Me, too. Grateful to support Joyce’s important work.
Yes Ma’am, Tina!
Me, too.
2026 is coming
Or Zero Day comes sooner, given the defenestration of the U.S. anti-Russian cyber unit. At that point, all the traitors will be exposed.
True, but they too make mistakes. We have to be ready to intercept them.
We’re in this together. Get some rest.
Linda, you are the best!
Genius!! Taking note. Thank you. I’ll try to find anyone in Texas.
I'll chip in a big box of your favorote healthy dog chews!! Just let me know. I have some cash now, since settling with homeowners insurace after losing it all in the Eaton fire. Pulling out a little here and there for a good cause is OK.
Your loss is unfathomable😢. Your updates are important - it can happen to any of us at a moments notice…..earthquake, tsunami, Trump……….
Now that the tariffs have been stopped, do we get a refund of the money we all lost in the stock market this week?
Seeing my financial advisor next week.at 77 I have one very serious question for him.how long can I afford to live?
I’m 71, so I’m not far behind you.
That's so cute!!! I'm sure the check is in the mail!!!! 😁
About 79% of women in opposite-sex marriages take the name of their spouse, according to a 2023 study by Pew Research, whereas most married men – 92% – keep their own last name.
https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2025/03/04/save-act-prevent-married-women-voting/81200611007/
It's insanity. When I was first married in Ohio in the Seventies, you had to use your husband's last name to register. Not sure how long that lasted, but I took my name back when I got divorced.
👍👏
Yes, this SAVE act is just another part of the plan. If you can't dumb down all the voters, then make it hard for those who see through the BS to vote at all. The last thing MAGA wants is an informed electorate.
I have called my senators, but now there are so many things to object to that I don't know what to say. Any suggestions?
Yep, they do count the calls. And ignore the e-mails (mostly).
Or be like my representative
The emails don’t go through and the phone doesn’t pick up and can’t leave messages
Be sure to contact your Democratic State Attorney Generals. They are leading the charge against the musk/trump/vance regime.
I think it will get easier the more you do it…good luck!
Jared Huffman is a guaranteed good guy! Stay in touch with him. 👍
Check him out on Blue Sky!
If they're Democrats, say thank you. If they're Republicans, tell them to go to hell.
My AG is Ken Paxton. I would tell him to go to jail, where he belongs.
Soooo sorry!
Ugh. He is the worst!
When I had Republican reps, I called to ask them to explain their perspective to me. In turn they had to listen to mine. Jerk-off snarks are counterproductive, and actually work against us. I hope you will rethink making this kind of recommendation. It is really a very poor strategy.
It’s better to be respectful. Your comment will carry more weight with the staff.
Hell, Marlo, I don't trust the United States and I'm a citizen.
ps. That lack of trust is a new thing for me. I don't like it much.
Just pick one each day and go for it. It’s the numbers that count and calling daily is an excellent plan. Best to you!
Follow Jessica Craven’s Chop Wood Carry Water on substack. She breaks it down to two actions per day, and the best part is on Sundays you get a whole long list of all the good things that happened each week.
Make a list and select one each day. Senators are receiving a historic number of calls per minute! 1600 calls per minute compared to historic calls:

5calls.org writes scripts for you! Please download the app and use it daily. If you need help, email their support. They answer!
As I hope I've said before, I cannot thank you enough for keeping us informed!
I have written over 30 emails since January 20th. I write to my two Senators and 1 Representative, so I have written on 10 different subjects and 3 more will go out tonight. Hope they will truly begin to feel the heat.
