This is why you are so well-loved, in my opinion. You’re human and wonderful!

“human and wonderful”: yes!! She absolutely is.

And...that's why we know that both Joyce Vance and Rep. Eric Swalwell are Democrats. I repeatedly have noticed that Republicans--on the whole--never admit they have made a mistake (no matter how small), are neither "human nor wonderful," and they don't seem to have a sense of humor. And, those are a few of the reasons I am proud to be a Democrat.

I do my best proofreading after I hit send.

Expand full comment

Me too -- and I edit, copyedit, and proofread for a living!

Expand full comment

It's ALWAYS easier to copyedit and proofread someone else's work, isn't it?

Expand full comment

Yep! When I have to edit or proof my own work, I find I can do a pretty good job if I leave it alone for several hours and then come back to it, but when you're in a fast-moving thread on social media or a Substack, this usually isn't an option. No surprise this is where most of my typos get away from me! (I make frequent use of the "edit" function on Substack.)

Same here! I am the worst editing my own work!

I wonder how many just corrected it in their head and didn’t notice! 🤣🫶

Oh lord, yes! Who doesn’t?

Me too!

You can always blame it on that infamous Substack hacker, Otto Correct. He is a mischievous little devil.

I call him AutoIncorrect. He has a knack for changing proofread text after the Send button is clicked.

I like to call him Congressman Allswell because he is one of the good guys. Seems like someone who would take your upside down W with grace and humor.

LOL Life would be boring if we never made a mistake!

I think he is a great guy! We know what you meant. We all think so highly of you. But you knit and that’s enough for me. And you have chickens!

Nobody’s perfect, but you are closer than most!

You are very gracious Joyce!

I think it’s ok for you to be human! I don’t know how you juggle it all, but I’m glad you do. I’m learning so much about the law!

We all do it now and again, Royce! 😜

I once worked for a fine but VERY intense and serious gentleman named Gilligan. My spellchecker insisted on correcting it to “Giggling”. After a while, if it was an inhouse thing i just left it.

You only got one letter turned upside down. Butmortification is good for all of us.

Your comment speaks well for both you and the Congressman. That kind of tiny error humanizes everyone and adds a touch of humor - we all love that!
