I was sitting in my car scrolling through my You Tube feed when I ran across the Meidas Touch(MTN)clip about DA Bragg’s 50 page response to that pissant Gym Jordan. If I could have danced in my car, I would have busted a move right then and there. Anyone who has sold Alvin Bragg short, I think will be singing a different tune before this is all over. Enough is enough. How Mr Bragg has had the patience to hold out this long is beyond me. It certainly is funny that republicans are all about “states rights” until they aren’t. It feels like we’re living in 1859 instead of 2023. Thanks Joyce for your informative post. I look forward to everything you write.

Actually,, you're close.... I call him Gymbag Jordan in my mind and elsewhere. You know, it conjures up the stench of sweat and general bodily stink that he seems to represent.

Expand full comment

He always looks sweaty - never putting on a suit jacket like the other congressmen shows he has no respect for decorum. And in my comment just now, I called him a putz. He grovels before Trump so pathetically that the word suits him. And he's a pissant because he is a small minded little man who enjoys being a bully.

"Gymbag Jordon". I like it; it's almost poetic

If both Bragg and the (I hope) forthcoming indictment in Georgia, and if they prevail, Trump will have been "taken down" by smart, persistent Black people, a man and a woman. I cannot think of anything more just than this. Given Trump's racism and misogyny, what a victory for righteousness.

"It certainly is funny that republicans are all about “states rights” until they aren’t."

They've been about a lot of things lately, until they are't: rule of law, judicial restraint, freedom of speech, freedom of religion. "It's ok if I do it," is how they roll.

Indeed... the hypocrisy is stunning and spans almost every governmental category.

Jim Jordan is loud, brash and likes to push people around with “Gotcha” questions. His sole purpose seems to be to sow dissension and animosity between the parties. Hopefully this pushback from Attorney Bragg will result in Jordan being disciplined by his fellow lawmakers. It’s worth noting that Jordan isn’t even a lawyer.

Maybe once we move 5 positions in the House to blue in the next election? BTW, Frisch is running against Boebert again and she only won by 554 votes last time. (I donated to Frisch's campaign even though it wasn't much more than a cup of coffee's worth!)

Only if the tossing out votes, the hacking, the calling some votes illegal and more are stopped. Plus, why was it that some individuals were called out and arrested for voting and the Republicans that voted twice, or had illegal residence were left alone?

Unjust! Unequal justice! Not fair!

I am not convinced they were left alone.

That’s correct. They weren’t left alone. I just did a Google search and found several articles: a few in NV and a few in ‘the Villages’ in FL, for starters. Charged & convicted, sentenced, as well.

I think his sole purpose of these "Gotcha" questions and statements is to have at least one re-broadcast on FOX before the day is out. Carlson, Hannity, Ingraham, The Five, Fox & Friends. All are hungry for the kind of content Jordan creates on a daily basis. It's a love affair.

I understood Gym did indeed take some law courses, just enough to be dangerous. He must not have done well since he dropped out and chose to be a high school instructor instead. He's making more money now than he ever has though had he done well in school, he might be making this salary ten-fold, and at a much younger age.

yes, i think that is the comment i read where he said he went to law school but never took the bar so he didn't know much about the law. i had forgotten the middle section where he said he never took the bar. be interesting to know if the truth was he never passed the bar. which is different from never taking it.

What???? No wonder he follows the directions of Donald blindly. Surely he has some attorney friends that he consults before making such a move! Or not!

Expand full comment

NOT! He knows it all already. Why consult anyone if you are going to do what you are told by a fool (TFG) to begin with. Gumbo Jordan hasn’t figured out that TFG’s trait is to have everyone do his ‘bidding’ for him so it keeps him out of deep legal troubles. Otherwise, he (TFG) would have been spending his life in prison 40 years ago!

I feel like my brain is dissolving from all this horror and chaos. It doesn't help that I've gotten COVID twice now even though I've been vaccinated and boosted (five doses) and am in perimenopause. I used to be able to, lets say, remember TV character names for all the TV shows I watch and now that's not the case.

Expand full comment

Nobody will like this, but I didn't catch covid but spent nearly three-quarters of 2020 going back and forth to the hospital. They never did anything because they were so busy with covid, but my insurance only paid for my going to that particular hospital, and finally just before Christmas I wanted to go home. I was totally unable to drink or eat anything and they said if I did I would die in a week. Well they were almost right, but when I went into a coma my wife called the ambulance and the hospital had no vacancies. I guess the ambulance drove around for an hour and then got permission to take me to a different hospital. Instead of only putting me on life support they did an mri and a colonoscopy and sent a sample to be analyzed and found out I had a genetic inability to digest grains. It's usually determined much sooner in life so no one thought to look for it in a man in his mid-70's. So covid actually saved my life. After I found out it was a simple diet change that was needed I've been recovering internally but my frame probably won't. Anyway I'm sort of grateful for covid personally, but not for people who had actually did have to suffer, so I can't say I'm grateful for covid, yet miraculously I did benefit. And my mother died and many of my friends and that's been hard to take. Well on January 6th I was just home and still too weak to watch news on the computer and one of the boys, the youngest that was still living with us came running in shouting they were attacking the capital and he brought in my chromebook and turned me on my side so i could view it. This will sound bad too, but now I had a strong will to survive, so Jan 6 gave me life again, because I had the will to see that Trump and his minions had to be punished, and I'm beginning to worry it ain't going to happen, but damn if I will die before I know they will not be able to overthrow this country.

No judgement for you! All are lessons. What does it take to wake us up to the individuals that are trying to tear down our Democracy? All hands on deck.

I pray you have a long and productive life.

Write the President, the Congress persons, the news stations, and let your voice be heard.

Remember years ago one head of a white hate group announced that they were going into politics? Well, here they are.

We have a lot to do. You are surely needed. There are so many groups that need people to write and call. I recently heard that over 1,000 have been arrested for their roles in January 6 attack on our Capitol. Yet, the Republicans in office have not yet been held accountable.

Like, I read that Greene took some of the individuals on a tour of the Capitol before the attack evening pointing out Nancy's office. How did they find her office with no name on the door. Inside job I call it, plus who told them about the tunnels?

Don't worry, Donald and his Minions won't get far. We are still a Nation Under GOD.

thank you. For almost all of my life I have written letters to those you suggested (well never directly to pres.) and to other people. For the most part I was ignored my congresspersons (only two did attempt personal responses and not send formulated response mailings.). Now I'm trying to communicate directly to people with my substack, The UnUtopian Optimist. I'm not good at promotion and am not writing to earn money, only trying to reach out to individuals.

and by the way, their have been people and politicians (not necessarily my own) who have been kind enough and with many developed lifelong dialogue. So I would like to shout out to former Gov. Doug Wilder, Prof. Paul Erhrlich, environmentalist Rachel Carson, as some very generous guides to me in my life. There have been others but perhaps those were three of the most faithful correspondents who would read my letters and respond with corrections, point out resources to seek more info, etc.

PS-Marjorie is a very distant younger cousin. She also responded, and when she entered into the political arena and I wrote to her, she did respond, almost exactly what she told me the last time I saw her when she was around 8 or 9. "Ken, go stick your head in the toilet and flush your life away." Very thoughtful, my cousin. Just like the others in the group.. Marjorie wasn't exactly in congress until that January. I believe she accompanied Ga. rep Barry Loudermilk who gave capital tour to proud boys & others in days before jan 6. But Marjorie is so well known now she is being credited for instigating the tours.

Aaand Bragg fades back for a long pass and is being blitzed by the Jones gallery. He's weaving right. He's weaving left. But we should be confident of victory because Bragg is deft with the law and accurate in his aim. Gym Jordan & other Republicans have proven over and over again to all of us that they have no ideas on how they can help their constituents' lives to be improved. They have zero ideas unless it is to interfere with actual legislation brought by Democrats or to put up roadblocks when the President is trying to fill slots in the government positions vacated by the trump administration. This is one problem that must be solved, as it hurts the nation as a whole! Part of the Democrats message should be that these inactions by Republicans are endangering the nation. It is not hubris, and they get no medals for this obstruction. It is almost elementary school b.s. I am happy DA Bragg is handling his business so well. Praying that DOJ stands up and strikes down the Amarillo Judge's decision to put the last option for a medical abortion for women out to pasture. These activist judges should be restricted from handling cases out of their jurisdictions, imho. There are so MANY examples of why Republicans should NEVER win an election again in this country that it continues to boggle my mind at just who in their right mind would entertain the notion that these liars, cheats, and thieves be allowed anywhere near a seat in Congress or the Senate. I rest my case.
