I want to begin a petition to demand that in the time of Trump’s passing, that not only he not be buried in Arlington, but that he is buried on land non contiguous to the United States and I thought his golf course in Scotland might be a good repository. But you, Joyce Vance, might take issue with using beautiful Scotland to get rid of the decrepit remains.

His sons will build a glorious tomb with a turnstile and charge admission; somewhere near his presidential library with no books and a tacky gift shop. Don't worry, you won't have to go.

Expand full comment

He has/will have a presidential library??? I’m not sure he can even actually read…

Expand full comment

illustrated comic book style library...

Expand full comment

Good idea, since they seldom contain any words at all!

Expand full comment

That actually is another ability, learning through graphic novels. That gift may mean a disability, though, for processing written texts.. His teachers inadvertently set him on a course for failure before he left kindergarten.

Expand full comment

Dianne, when you were in elementary school, did they periodically give students reading tests to show their "reading level" compared to their grade? Trump's couldn't possibly have been more than a second grade reading level, even if he were in fifth grade at the time. Except for a few words like election, conspiracy, president, Korea, and interference, I doubt he can understand or pronounce any words that contain more than two syllables. Watching him struggle through a vocabulary test when he was young would have been a treat!

Unlike libraries established by previous presidents, this would lack ANY reading material, except transcripts from Faux News where they gushed about his wonderfulness.

Instead of books, there would be several statues of himself, his fan club members, children, favorite MAGAs, and our adversarial leaders. The center of the lobby would show a life-size "re-enactment" of him sitting in his favorite dining room chair, sucking on a cheeseburger that's oozing grease and slimy cheese, and a dozen or so McDonald's ketchup packets next to his Diet Pepsi. THAT would be his favorite "attraction."

I wonder how much he would charge for admission. And where might it be located?

Expand full comment

It seems to me that the issue with Trump is not his reading comprehension but his verbal vocabulary; which seems limited to about 100 words. Which is to say that he would understand what he read if he wasn't so lazy and so damn shallow as to only be interested in reading if the material is about him or at least contains his name.

Expand full comment

Wow! I like your explanation a whole lot more than the rambling comments I made. He is the epitome of laziness, so that does make sense. Seems to me that since he was spoiled rotten from the day he was spawned, he did NOTHING for himself. Everything was handed to him on a silver platter. Makes me wonder if he ever learned to tie his shoes, because someone was there not to show him how to do it himself, but to do it FOR him.

I want to throw up just for saying this, but I almost --- about .0000001% --- feel sad for him because he never learned to be a HUMAN BEING. The world can thank his parents for that. The strangest part of his screwed-up upbringing is that his siblings DID act like humans!

I like your choice of words when you said he's shallow. He's laser-focused on what he wants, to the point of being obsessed. If he's miserable, he demands that everyone be miserable, too.

Expand full comment

He has some parroting capabilities, but they are actually brilliant fascist propaganda strategies. Since Kamala has been on the offensive, he has tried to negate the power of her words, by then calling her the things she has called him and just parroting her. Watch it. We know that if words are used a lot they lose their power. So he has called her fascist, dangerous, and other things that he has created to match things she has said, like that she is communist. While these have not stuck yet, I am sure his base is accepting the words in the way he intends them to.

I am sure Trump would rather have a casino in his name than a library, and the papers from his administration would be kept in boxes in the bathrooms.

Nah, he will extract the electrons from X and his other failing social media platform and hold them in his not tiny hands. Big strong men will come up to him with tears in their eyes and say "sir! We've never seen someone hold electrons like you do! All the best ones! Everyone says so!"

Then he'll make it into a NFT to grift from the suckers and losers ostensibly for the attorneys he will not pay, and one of the attorneys will reverse polarity on the electrons causing him to spontaneously combust.

His family, in memoriam, will leave the charred blood stains on the tattered walls as it will be their last remnant of him, and will rebrand the DJT Library as Trump BBQ and sewer reclamation.

Regarding his inability to understand the written word, no educator here, but I bet he has a reading disability. One wonders how he ever got through school, didn’t he go to Wharton? I guess daddy paid a lot for his degree

Expand full comment

I think its an accepted fact that he has dyslexia and possibly ADD. When he was in school such things weren't recognized and most kids with those problems thought they were stupid. They also learned to avoid reading.

Couple that with his inflated sense of himself, and he's decided he's the smartest human being on earth without having to inform himself.

Hes not actually stupid. But he's uninformed, grandiose and has poor judgment and poor impulse control.

I'm not sure its an inability to understand the written word, it's the utter lack of interest, either because it doesn't directly profit him or because he doesn't think he needs to learn.

Here is the one and only statement I will make in trump's defense: He appears to me to be artistic (swirling signature, golden toilet), and possibly would have been much better off in school learning from graphic novels, than he would from printed text. Like the one I have here on my coffee table: "On Tyranny" by Timothy Snyder, Graphic edition. Oh, maybe that's his bible.

Expand full comment

Seriously my guess is he has a learning disability, no educator here, but have worked with children who needed help with reading which was not available when he was in school; those kids were mocked and taken out of their classes and put in a class for slow (often called dumb) kids. I bet his family just sent him off to some expensive private school and were not engaged in his reading issues. And we know daddy ensured he had an ivy league degree.

What amazes me is no rethug news media outlet ever mentions his inability to read and comprehend AND Dems are not mean spirited enough to mock him publicly. Didn’t members of his cabinet remark that he was not interested in the daily briefings and never read any details about current issues? My guess is he can’t

Expand full comment

Dianne, I've often wondered why he was so allergic to those daily briefings. It seemed to me that he just didn't want to be bothered with knowing about what's going on in the world, unless it had to do with him, or HIS allies overseas. And of course, his MAGA buddies here in the US.

Your explanation makes sense. Still, one would think that during almost 80 years of being on Earth One, he would have learned the concept of "taking responsibility for one's actions." His laziness has also been a big part of who he is. That'll never change, because he grew up having others do things for him. He wouldn't know how to start a lawn mower, change a tire, or load a dishwasher if his life depended on it.

Meanwhile, you're right about Democrats. We have more class than Republicans. We do have some standards that Republicans wouldn't understand.

So if a president tries to use the DOJ to circumvent an election, that is an official act and he can’t be charged? Nuts!

Expand full comment

Yes. According to the current version of the Supreme Court, a president has immunity from corrupting the department of justice internally. In what world should this be OK? Answer: none.

Expand full comment

This is how corrupt the majority justices are. Add Bill Barr to the mix and you have a molotov cocktail for ending democracy.

Expand full comment

Yeah, the nutty Supreme Court immunity ruling actually mentioned a president's decision regarding who heads DOJ is part of a president's official actions, which is therefore "presumptively" immune.

What I find even nuttier is how the Court's majority opinion went on to say, as I understand it, that the motive behind such DOJ personnel decision could not even be considered in any prosecution, corrupt though it may be!

Expand full comment

Yeah, but the president is the one who picks the members of his cabinet. I agree, though, that what tfg did (tried to do) with replacing the acting AG was entirely corrupt, and only a corrupt supreme court would be unable to see and address the corruption.

I still love Joe Biden. The media, which needs to sell controversy, seems to continue pooh-poohing his accomplishments. But historians, who have the luxury of objective hindsight, will put Biden's amazing accomplishments in proper perspective; one of America's greatest presidents and a gift to all of us.

I'm quickly learning to love Kamala Harris. What a miraculous transition. And I believe she will win big-time on Nov 5.

We can see victory in the voter numbers starting at the 81 million who voted for Joe, in her contributions, in her engaging and hopeful messaging, in women's health choices, in her taking back to the Democratic Party the fundamental words of "freedom", "patriotism", "loyalty","joy", her outreach to all Americans, her dismissal of Trump as unserious thereby incapable of trolling Democrats, and so forth. Who to vote for is such a simple choice; Goodness and Joy or Trump and MAGA's Awfulness.

We can see victory in the tidal wave of new volunteers joining the millions of grassroots activists who have been working since 2016 to bring back a Democratic majority in Congress and the White House. This majority will arrive and pass historic legislation for Americans.

For all of us who grew up in the midst of Vietnam protests and the Civil Rights movements, we know the power of the most potent force in our democracy; The Consent of the Governed. Given time and diligence, it will overwhelm the the enemy we face; The Tyranny of the Minority.

Trump's final act will not be overthrowing our Democracy but finally electing a woman POTUS in America.✌️✌️
