Personal economics limited me to just a single $50 campaign donation in connection with this election. That went to Fetterman, even though I'm from California. It was so satisfying to see him win.

Joyce, this letter made me feel hopeful, I sent it to my daughters, but it also brought tears to my eyes. I'm overseas and the initial reports weren't good so I'm glad to see improvement, even though the final counts are not in. I'm grateful that Fetterman won in PA. Also regarding Kari Lake, who may lose her bid in AZ, she was on tape and in front of a live audience mocking Pelosi's attack that fractured his skull. People laughed. Then she said that was a doctored tape, that she had not made those remarks. That gave me a good laugh since she was in front of a LIVE audience making those remarks. I don't know if any of that MAGA crowd rebuked her, but hopefully there was some iota of decency there to say, this woman is an outright liar.

She’s playing a risky game. The only support she really has is The King of Lies.

It feels like a century ago but I suggested the then "republicans" would photochop everything, including voter fraud and a hurricane named Sharpie pen and I wonder if the pen is in the stolen boxes in Mar-a ...

If one is a maga republican (they're facsists to me), they lie. It's part of their makeup.

What a beautiful and honest summary of this roller coaster we’re all riding. Your calm voice and truthful assessment is helping me more than I can express. Thank you! Onward we go!

Tonight I thought back to election night in 2016 when I had my first, and so far only, panic attack. Before the returns started coming in tonight I was really expecting something like that again. With every positive report from Steve Kornacki my hopes got higher. There may still be a Republican House majority but it will be a small and dysfunctional one. I hope Raphael Warnock can pull off a victory tonight but if not I look forward to voting in the Georgia runoff.

I thought Steve and Rachel did a splendid job. Their brilliance was showing as was their incredulity at the rolling results. Who can forget Rachel saying to Steve, "Wait a minute, are you saying the Democrats could win the House?"

That was a great moment 👍

Yes! The youth vote! My son turned 18 this summer and on his own he signed up to vote. He was so adorable trying to figure out what to wear. Meaning he takes this right serious. When we got to the polling place, our neighbor was working the polls and she made a big deal of him voting. It felt so good!

Thank you, Joyce, I needed to read your words. Still, I'm fearful what a MAGA House of Representatives is capable of doing. But history has shown that when the Republicans get control of the House, they lose the White House two years later. That is my hope right now.

Focusing on what and how we go forward will play a big part in future outcomes.

I agree that John Fetterman's win was a highlight! I wasn't expecting it at that moment and was really happy for him! I loved his speech too! I so hope Mark Kelly wins! I'm afraid Mandela Barnes won't! I know we can't win them all and of course there were a few real disappointments! Now I'm sending out positive energy that we prevail in the Senate (and I think we will) and the house! Certainly not the bad night it could have been!!! Time to move on trump and his mob!!!

I think Johnson’ swagger amidst his big donor apparatus played a significant part against Barnes’ insecurity on camera. I’m sure he’ll step up in the future.

The big loser tonight was El Jefe Del Merde A Loco. Only JD Vance of his anointed won. I think we can expect there will be no Bigly Announcement next Monday.

If anything election denying will come into play. This strategy has been planned but I am hopeful too that we will win nevertheless.

It’s 0130 out here on the left coast. In spite of my vow, I stayed up watching the national returns. At my last view of all the house races still outstanding I did not see that Red wave reaching 218.

Understanding there will be some seats too close to call I am turning out the lights with a quiet sense of grim pleasure to have “stuck it in the eye” of all those timid pundits who gave the GOP at least 25 seats in the coming term. There’s nothing I’d rather see than McCarthy slink back into the slimy hole he crawled out of as he drooled over the speakers gavel; that’ll have to wait a bit, but I’ll sleep easier tonight seeing the counts across the board, knowing what remains are early ballots that have uniformly favored the blues.

I woke up with a feeling of dread this morning. Luckily this is the first thing I read and I feel so much better now. Thank you, Joyce.

Me too! I have been petrified! It is terrific to have this site and i am so thankful for JV’s comments! We still have a long way to travel and exhaustion has overtaken me at the moment! Hopefully there will not be the drama of the past two years!!

As every morning dawns, and, still hopefully, but especially today, thanks for reminding me that we're all in this together and giving me and so many others hope that the rule of law and the Constitution will prevail.

Good late evening JV. You must have had a very long day. I was happy to see your post. I followed the election on MSNBC tonight which was fascinating. I’m understanding that gaining additional seats in the House may be determinative in districts from California and New York which would mean we might have to wait a month for those results and then there’s the runoff of Warnoff and Walker which would take us to December 6th before we would get the results. And I’m still hopeful about Mandela Barnes winning the Senate seat in Wisconsin. I’d have to say all in all it was an exciting night and I suspect it will continue to be despite what republicans may try to serve up. Yea for John Fetterman 🎉 Thanks again for being there for us.

Thank you, Joyce, for your perspective on yesterday's election! Having supported his candidacy since the beginning, I am especially happy to hear that John Fetterman won. My state of Virginia held on to Wexton and Spanberger, two of the three candidates being watched. Sorry to hear of Elaine Luria's loss, though. I suppose if the J6 committee continues into 2023, someone else can take her seat?

Gosh Joyce, I am relieved...even though some races had bad outcomes, eg. Tim Ryan, Elaine Luria and in NC, the Supreme Court. I was so tense last night, seeing fascism approaching when I looked over my shoulder. After seeing the empty room at Kevin McCarthy's so called "Take Back the House" party, I knew we had held democracy intact. Reading your post, my eyes are moist but from hope, not fear. Bravo women! We are going to control our own bodies; we will NOT go back. And thanks to the youth!

Now, can we please send Hershel Walker packing???
