I honestly don't believe he does "know full well." IMO what he thinks, believes, is that when *he* wanted to direct judges' rulings their refusals to do so were acts of disloyalty, not adherence to the law or protocol. DT may be smart in a feral sense, but his denial of reality other than the one he sees means he has zero understanding of how things work other than when they're in his favor.

His perception of loyalty caused him to fire many decent people who only came on board to do something positive for the country. Fortunately those same folks will see him be in jail for a while, and very soon. And they will see his empire crumble.
