Chickens will do fine, for now Joyce! Good luck with your finishing touches.

For Joyce:

Joyce Vance, don’t ever apologize for not creating another expose. Please pay attention to your book. I so much admire you for being industrious. I wrote one little book. I have put off finishing my 2nd book, “Katz on Cats and Other Animal Tails.” And eventually my memoirs and I even have a title for that one; “You Remind Me (addressing myself) of a Little Child Who Just Thinks (As Life is Just One Big Pissing Match).

I’m happy to hear your book is ready for publication. We all need to express ourselves. I wish my ancestors had left a written record of their thoughts. But none that I know of. One group came from Vilnius, Lithuania, Ukraine and Sicily. I identify more with the Italian side. We will pick up nemesis along the way but that goes with the territory.

Peace.

Looking forward to your book!

Me too, meanwhile ... California AG ROB BONTA has filed a lawsuit to stop the National Guard deployments permanently. Update: Case No.1:25-cv-04870. H/t L. O'Donnell.

There is no "invasion nor imminent invasion" and there are gross statutory errors right, left, center & far right. SKIP the "TRO" & go straight to permanent injunction.

We, here in Los Angeles, are bewildered by and furious that our federal government seems to be turning against us. We don't need ICE, National Guard or the Marines deployed to manage our community. Chicken pics are always welcome.

From a right coast resister, prayers for your city and state. We ALL need to get out and protest peacefully this coming Saturday. Hoping the judicial system sends the troops home before more damage is done.

Kathie Quackenbush's avatar

Another East coaster also praying. AND also protesting this weekend, in Albany NY. Couldn’t decide on what my sign should read…SO MANY ISSUES…. But now I have decided it will say. ….DEFUND ICE…

Louise L.'s avatar

From another Californian, I agree!

patricia's avatar

why are the protestors carrying Mexican flags

Carol C's avatar

How do we know who it is that wave Mexican flags? Or the guys in all black with masks, hoodies, and backpacks full of hammers, etc.?

Most protesters do not dress like that or carry full-size flags of any kind.

patricia's avatar

Carol, Good point....makes no sense for protestors to carry Mexican flags, throw water bottles at police, and write signs like fuck ice, fuck ur wall. Hands off would never do those things....perhaps they are trump plants

C Anderson's avatar

LA itself is about 60% Latino. It’s in support of what is occurring for their neighbors and friends I’m thinking.

Marlene Lerner-Bigley (CA)'s avatar

I do wish people would carry the American flag. Doesn’t have to be big. The more people carry their own country’s flag, the more they’ll be targeted.

patricia's avatar

and their loyalty questioned...it clouds the picture...do you want to be part of America or do you want to turn America into Mexico ? I don't carry around the Irish flag

VALERIE MELUSKEY's avatar

After the original protestors left Home Depot and the law inforcement attacked any remaining protestors, the violence attracted so many it would be hard to tell, but originally they were people looking for work

suzc's avatar

It is a Latino neighborhood and they have been subjected to what might be called an ICE invasion. With the fear and loathing and destruction that it brings.

Teri Gelini's avatar

He is “stirring the pot” to create conflict that is not here! I am sure that other evil person Steven Miller is egging him on to keep him going.

patricia's avatar

why are the protestors carrying Mexican flags ?

Dana Wilkie's avatar

Some are because that's where they and/or their ancestors are from.

patricia's avatar

I get that, but aren't they fighting for this country to be their country now ? Shouldn't they be carrying American flags ?

Sandra Hardie's avatar

I saw one flag that looked like it was Stars and Stripes on one side and Mexico on the other. I thought that was pretty cool.

suzc's avatar

Patricia I think they are fighting for their families, friends and neighbors n o t to be attacked in American streets by the so-called govt. Frankly even I would not wave a USA flag these days as it has been co opted and corrupted in my estimation. In no way am I proud of today's federal govt.

This country has long been called a melting pot for a reason. It is our strength. Yes there should be assimilation. But no one is required to forget where they come from. We make room for each other. Or we used to.

My two cents.

patricia's avatar

Never give up the flag...especially to corruptors

the evil evans "love " Jesus and claim him as theirs, he is not nor is the flag of America theirs

suzc's avatar

I appreciate your steadfastness.

patricia's avatar

each group of immigrants has faced opposition...it's the reason the DAR was formed

patricia's avatar

the DAR was against immigration by the way...

Kathi Cooper's avatar

Don't judge. America has a terrible history of judging people that are not like them.

patricia's avatar

Kathi, Not judging.....questioning why "protestors" are carrying Mexican flags etc. Makes it look like they are trying to reclaim Calif for Mexico......instant insurrection...

patricia's avatar

or "invasion"..........requiring marines...

patricia's avatar

When I go to protests I don't walk around with an Irish flag...

Dana Wilkie's avatar

They are proud people who came to the U.S.A. , a country which prides itself on being a nation of immigrants from all over the world. Hence, the Statue of Liberty and the poem at her base.

Rhonda Koenig's avatar

I am so sorry from Ohio… positive vibes and prayers for your safety. I wish many of us could come to LA just to at least show solidarity…

Chris Hierholzer's avatar

Take a break Joyce. Clear you mind and finish you book. It's OK!

Robin F's avatar

Love your chickens! My husband is convinced that Trump is provoking civil war. I hope he is wrong, and anxiously await your comments. Good luck with the book! So excited to receive it this year.

Richard Waddell's avatar

He acts like such a goon, can't be bothered with thinking just revenge and grudges,

get even - is that real governing policy? Is this now the central tenet of the R-party?

I now this may not be exactly on-topic, but it's a thought that came to me earlier and parts of at least might find a few interested to read. If not, okay:

______________________

Harry Emerson Fosdick (1878-1969) wrote the following

regarding revenge, in a 1913 devotional book:

*. * * * * * *

"...an unforgiving, grudge-bearing spirit is not simply a fault, but...is

unutterably mean. Think over all that people have had to endure in you;

remember the patience and forgiveness of your parents, the way your friends

have overlooked your blunders and ill-nature; consider how your hope of

any chance to retrieve past mistakes in your moral life...[is out of your control].

Then think of how mean it is to cherish grudges against those who wrong you.

Face squarely all your nourished spite against any one and see how contemptible it is."

* * * * * * *

Grudge-bearing and meanness seem to be symptoms of illness,

unsuitable and unacceptable for the governing of a nation such as ours.

Richard, thank you for sharing this message. I agree; it speaks to the occupant of the WH and the rest of the party.

Sandra Hardie's avatar

If he was actually capable of seeing "how contemptible" he was, he would shrivel up and die. So it ain't gonna be a happening thing.

Bill Katz's avatar

Robin, Trump is everything evil. There is not one decent bone in his body. He is pure evil. 100% destructive. If there was any such animal as the Antichrist, he is it. Why did he have to live in my time?

Teri Gelini's avatar

In all of our lives at this time! Why has he not just keeled over or taken a long fall down the stairs of AirFforce 1 ?

Teri Gelini's avatar

I agree with your husband. I hope our military has the guts to say no like the national guard did in Nashville earlier this year.

ERA's avatar

I agree with your husband.

Denise's avatar

Take a break! Your book is much anticipated! I’m in L.A. and literally took a walk to give my mind a rest. We are indeed watching and waiting. Never in my life did I think this would be our reality. Sad but more so, furious.

Judith's avatar

Denise, I’m thinking of all of you in LA and wishing you safety from these thugs.

Denise's avatar

Thank you so much. My heart breaks for these peoples’ lives being destroyed and it’s so surreal yet sadly I think with this maniac, it was inevitable.

Rue's avatar

Chickens are good.

Just what we need.

Melissa's avatar

Good luck wrapping things up. I need a break from this craziness so you chose the right night!

Susan Stone's avatar

Good luck with your finishing touches Joyce. And thank you for the chickens. I really needed them today.

Marina Oshana's avatar

We could use some chicken pictures right now. 🙏🏽 Book is on pre-order.

Mike N.'s avatar

Who would have thought that Pepto-Bismol and Xanax would be a staple for every day living. Let’s hope no one gets killed due to this Administration’s incompetence.

Deborah Kadin's avatar

Just what I needed - thank you….

Marcia Battin's avatar

Thanks for the chickens. Watching Trump’s debacle unfold in Los Angeles, my home for most of my life until a decade ago, has my stomach clenched in knots. Best wishes for getting the book done.

karen strano's avatar

Chickens have been maligned recently by the taco meme. They are actually both beautiful and calming. Thanks for sharing them.

Corlis Robe's avatar

No, no, no. These are the *Vance* chickens. No one malignes the Vance chickens.

karen strano's avatar

They're all in it together.

Louise L.'s avatar

Your chickens seem to have a sixth sense!

if we can send marines to Ca, why can't we send a a crew of Navy and air force air traffic controllers to Newark, where the real emergency is?
