The furor over the NBC hiring of Ronna McDaniel as a commentator/analyst is of no small consequence. Joyce appears regularly on MSNBC, and I hope she will do what we on the outside cannot do: Let management know, in her typically calm and comforting way, that this is a betrayal of journalistic ethics.
I’m an 8th grade US History (including Gov and Civics!) and English teacher on spring break and will be glued to each of these upcoming events that you have outlined. Thank you again for offering clear information on all of these court cases, both here and on #SistersInLaw! I’m also tuning in to Amicus with Dahlia Lithwick! Great recommendation! I might also add that I have been listening to podcasts with Tim Miller on The Bulwark, The Lincoln Project, Rick Wilson, as well as Molly Jong Fast with Fast Politics! These podcasts are all like rabbit holes and I keep finding more and more as I listen to each one! 😂 I have a 90-minute commute each way to the school I teach at in the San Francisco Bay area and this gives me a chance to really get a handle on all the issues from several different perspectives! It also fuels my passion for making sure my students have a clear understanding of how the government actually works, what the constitution actually says, and how it applies to all of our lives!
Joyce, I must say that any one of your fabulous chickens is (1) smarter, (2) more beautiful, (3) more interesting as a personality, and (4) more worthy of respect than the Orange Turd. Not to put too fine a point on it . . .
Having been a federal manager at SSA the agency made it quite clear that they would defend me in official acts only. And it was quite clear that did not count anything I said or did while being on the clock. In other words I did not have the benefit of magical thinking that because I said or did it while being paid that the agency would afford me legal protection. My words and actions had to be in the course of my duties only.
So it rankles me that this privileged, narcissistic jerk has made himself godlike in his hubris and arrogance. I expect he should be held to the same standards all federal officials are held.
Of all people he has a job to do. We must separate the personal from the official and fomenting insurrection or calling dearly won state secrets personal records is not to be tolerated.
Too rarely noted is that Trump has had SIX+ MONTHS to prepare for this. Engoron issued his primary ruling in September, at which point it was obvious that at least half of this amount would be forfeit. There followed 5 months of the number growing larger. Then an additional 30-day grace period.
Joyce, sorting out the people and legal issues in Trump's upcoming trials has to be a full-time job! Thanks for taking it on! Especially because there are so many scummy people you have to write about. I sometimes wish I could sanitize my computer after reading about Bannon, Navarro, Kushner, Trump, Gaetz, Greene, et. al. I hope they're not infectious.

Tish James is ready and willing to go after The Don’s property. She and we have been waiting for a long time for justice to be served. Even if trump had $500 million, hell would have to freeze over, no never mind, even if hell froze over trump would never spend a dime of his own money on his campaign. He wants the "uneducated" to donate or buy his cologne or his tennis shoes or collector cards, etc. The RNC won't have any money for their many candidates either cuz he'll have it siphoned off by Lara Trump. The GRIFT is the new art of the deal.
He raved all weekend about trump tower and keep your filthy hands off it. That building has loans against it, and the question the nanks should be asking is "when will you pay off the loans." The ruse about having a half billion is just trump telling his "uneducated" followers another lie cuz he's losing ALL credibility. If Letitia James is able to grab some of his properties, things become more REAL. Reality biting trump in the diaper is gonna hurt him on every level.
I hope the FBI and all our intelligence agencies are keeping close tabs in him because he'll want to sell more classified docs soon.
As farcas immunity goes, it's a double edged sword, so SCOTUS should explain why that would be a bad thing and deny it already!

The upcoming Supreme Court action on medication abortions strikes me as having the biggest political implications of all the things ahead this week. We have seen the power of Dobbs to mobilize women and men to vote for women's health in even bright red states. Surely even this court will stop short of instituting a national ban at this moment in time. Then again, the far-right agenda to retake control over women, minorities, and other interests not aligned with their particular brand of Christian Nationalism has proven to be obscenely hurried. I fully expect that contraception will appear on the Court's docket in the next year or two. God help us -- wait, VOTERS help us!
