Welcome to Notes

Substack, the website that sends my newsletter straight into your inbox, has a new, Twitter-like but no-drama social media hot spot called Notes. I’ve just started learning my way around, and am liking it so far. It feels informal and fun. Like showing up at a party where you know most of the people and the ones you don’t are eager to meet you. You can interact with your favorite writers on Substack and catch up with old friends you’ve missed seeing on your usual social media haunts. I’ve spent most of today getting people to show me their knitting.

And sharing pictures of me hanging out with Scotch.

The team is still working on getting it just right, but so far, so good. You should check it out if you haven’t dropped by yet. I hope to see you there.

I’ll still be on Twitter, at least for now. But Notes gives us a smaller, closer circle to share new reporting and our thoughts about it with each other in real time. And all the good stuff—dog pictures and cat videos. We can figure it out together.
