Twitter, as it was is dead. Am grateful to see responsible journalists like NPR leaving. Bravo for other platforms (like notes) and their efforts to step up.
I’m so excited you’re “doing notes.” I’ve been subscribing to your stack for months. Your explanations of all the legal chaos has really taught me a great deal, increased my level of patience & given me confidence in spreading the truth socially with real, breathing human beings.
Like you I spent today trying to find my way around Notes, but Lordy, it’s going to take me some time. The good thing is I am a subscriber of yours & you’ve been dropping by my inbox for months now, along with others that I have depended on for years now. I have faith that this platform is going to take off & at least in the beginning, spare us of the anxiety, ugliness, stupidity & craziness that we know is out there. It can also be a gathering place as we seek justice & get in shape for 2024.
Again, thanks for sharing everything with us during this horrifying time. It truly reminds me that we are in this together.
Scotch is a real handsome guy. I put out some ground cover this morning for my girls and by lunch they had it all spread out just like they want it. So fun to watch them work.
I think you have to buy a subscription to the one you want to comment on. Sucks for those of us on a really tight fixed income. Some of these writers I guess make their living on these subscriptions. I’ve ran across those that are charging $10 a month. It’s hard enough coming up with $5 a month each for these. $10 is way out of my league
I wish Substack had just one monthly fee where you could subscribe to all the writers you’re interested in. $5-10 per month for each subscription limits how many I can be a paid subscriber for. Then, when you add paid subscriptions to other news organizations, it’s a lot!
So I can participate on Notes for Joyce without being charged because I subscribe to her newsletter but other Notes I don’t subscribe to I cannot respond to without payment. Seems clear now. Thx.
Fingers crossed. I used Twitter for years to get all the breaking news, even before I ever tweeted. And I miss that. I don't seem to see that anymore. Hoping Notes will fill that gap!
Between Substack Notes and POST I think we'll all be fine. Love your support crew and really enjoy your legal analysis. I wonder why my feed come through from you about 8-12 hours late? Hmmm I'll have to check that out.
Love your chickens! They look like creatures from another world. This Notes thingie--not quite sure how it works. I will keep exploring. I was never on Twitter. (Or Twiddler, as a friend of mine named it.) More exploring to do. 🐼❤️
I’ve done cross stitch, needlepoint, crewel, but my eyes got bad. Cataract surgery gave me my sight back, but I would rather read, and play with my iPad. I watch the pandas at the SMITHSONIAN National Zoo. And all the animals. Watching the animals at the Zoo helps to relieve the tensions in today’s crazy world.
I have not found Notes. I saw something I thought was Notes but was told "almost." Then I truly thought I found it when all I saw was a list of people using Notes. All I could figure out there was wherever Notes where I could find people who were interested in topics. I'm not getting the hang of it yet. My apology. I just hope no one at Harvard finds me doing that and decides I should turn in my diploma.
In my next life I want to be one of your chickens. That way Im guaranteed to be beautiful and live in luxury, with plenty of intellectual Stimulation. And yarn. Lots of yarn.
Love the chickens…more please.
What a cute photo and you have beautiful eyes!
Thank you!
Scotch, too, has beautiful eyes!

Joyce,

They're always so industrious. I really love watching them.
Looking to connect. No knitting however. Just cross-stitch . Alas, no chickens. Don’t know how to attach photos.
I think cross stitch counts! If you go to notes, there's a photo button, similar to other social media sites.
Does one have to pay again fir Notes?

Indeed.
I've been able to comment in Notes on the writers I pay a subscription fee to with no problem. Hope that helps!
Yup. And therein lies the problem. Participation for the wealthy, not for folks on a fixed income.
Sucks to be broke. But at least I’m not living under a bridge anymore. Maybe some of these wealthy folks are paying attention.
I agree. It’s a sad situation to me. Even 1 or 2 subscriptions is very expensive for many of us on a tight income.
So I can participate on Notes for Joyce without being charged because I subscribe to her newsletter but other Notes I don’t subscribe to I cannot respond to without payment. Seems clear now. Thx.
Excellent!
I'm not a knitter either, only crochet. But I do love cross-stitch. Working on a wedding gift right now. Wedding is in one month. May not make it!
I hate deadlines! I’m working on a gift for June. I just have some beading to do. Will probably take a day.
Always here for the chicken content
Yep. I like it too. So far, everyone is civil. Let's keep it that way.
Fingers crossed. I used Twitter for years to get all the breaking news, even before I ever tweeted. And I miss that. I don't seem to see that anymore. Hoping Notes will fill that gap!

Thx for introducing us to Scotch! I’m not a knitter and definitely not a writer. But I am a huge fan of your knowledge of the law Joyce. 👏🙏🏼😎
Handsome guy, Scotch!❤️
He knows it, too.
Chickens are vain and have egos? 😆😆

I like watching various bird of prey nests. Cornell University has a camera trained on a pair of red tail hawks. Their nest has three eggs!
Have I found Notes?!
Do tell?
I found my mother’s crochet hook! 🧶

You have!! 🥳 Actually, I lied! You have almost found Notes!
Oh no. Now what?
😃
I’m delighted you’re on notes! Looked for you yesterday
Definitely!
In my next life I want to be one of your chickens. That way Im guaranteed to be beautiful and live in luxury, with plenty of intellectual Stimulation. And yarn. Lots of yarn.
I just found my mother’s crochet hook! Must be a sign!
