Guida has been out of sorts all day. We’ve had an interloper in our midst.
She really doesn’t appreciate the cat, Tofu, our son Teddy’s Maine Coon, hanging out in “her” tree. [Note Guida in the bottom right corner, suspiciously eyeing the cat.]
Tofu is new to tree climbing and is also spectacularly uncoordinated for a cat, which made it all the more fun for me to watch. The chickens tried squawking at him and shunning him, but he, wanting to bathe in the sun and enjoy the beautiful fall weather, refused to take the hint. I think he’s secretly hoping the chickens will adopt him into the tribe.
The babies—we’ve kept two of them—have been adopted by everyone now that their Mom doesn’t insist on keeping them within inches of her all day long. Even though they’re looking sadly disheveled as they molt their baby feathers, they seem to have really enjoyed the gorgeous day too.
And best of all, Tofu, like Bella, is interested in sharing their food but doesn’t seem to see them as food. Could there be a friendship in the works? I can’t wait to watch the future developments. It has been a very successful Saturday here! Wishing you a good weekend too.
We’re in this together,
Joyce
I never thought I’d enjoy chicken stories so much 👏❤️
Thank you. It has been a horrid week for me personally, with allergies and arthritis causing inflammation, and the prednisone is no better. I needed your beautiful chickens. When I saw your name, I prayed it would have pictures of your chickens.
