Actually shows on MSNBC could take sections of project 2025 and educate the public. Instead we listen all day everyday about Biden and whether he should drop out... It's getting a little old bashing in him and Trump again gets a free pass....

Historians will be scratching their heads trying to analyze and explain the 2024 election media coverage.

Expand full comment

They will be comparing it to the rise to power of Hitler, Mussolini, Berlusconi, Pinochet, Gaddafi, Mobutu, and other fascist dictators who made the world a worse place.

I'm already scratching my head. Isn't this the same crap they pulled with Hillary Clinton? "She's not well." "She's stumbling." "She's slurring her words."

How did the networks come away from that level of being completely wrong without learning a thing?

Expand full comment

I think they [The networks and media] got what they wanted with Hillary, a more "interesting" challenging president to write about and interview and follow. It is SO SAD that we, the people, let them make that choice for us. I literally stopped watching television at all in 2016 and have never watched it since. And, I DO NOT MISS IT at all. Now, I'm far too busy to sit and watch....Yet here we are again and the elderly man is being ditched for a felon and carnival barker and liar and pervert....but that's what television shows....and forces us to follow if we do....

When it comes to media, it’s 2016 and the lead up to the Iraq War on steroids.

Expand full comment

Perhaps we should be writing to them to do that. I am hoping that the Republican convention in Milwaukee, a city Trump has trashed, reminds the press that Trump and what he does is the real money maker. In fact enough of us have canceled subscriptions with mainstream press that I hope they feel a difference.

Expand full comment

Dems should organize a "teach-in" in Milwaukee, along the lines of the anti-war teach-ins throughout the late '60s. Get together loads of volunteers, each reading a segment of Project 2025, then discussions on the implications of the work quoted...set it up near the site of the GOP Convention, and have at it...that is, if the local cops don't come down hard and crack heads for "unlawful assembly" sort of thing.

Expand full comment

There must be a way of having an electronic "teach-in". There must be some geeks out here with the know how.

Expand full comment

My husband is one of those geeks who knows about LLMs and such and he has mentioned a couple of times he could probably help with some effort like that. I'm also a kinda small time geek so could prob help... I wonder if some effort like this could take off. We both would totally volunteer...

NOW that is a good alternative to watching MSM on television or the press. Let WE THE PEOPLE share the news that the MSM prefers to shelter.

Great idea! I am currently going through the education section. I have been making myself notes. I have been thinking that it has to also be communicated in a series of tiktok videos, but with parts being acted out instead of just explained. Or illustrated with animation. However, it is important that it be used to contradict all the lies the Republicans will say. Also, the press should have a feeding frenzy on Trump's announcement of his running mate.

Expand full comment

Is that last statement true? I cancelled my NYT subscription because I finally couldn't put up with their nonsense any longer, but always assumed it could make no difference really to the paper. Do you know otherwise?

Expand full comment

I do not know otherwise, but have noticed a bevy of people reporting that they are doing the same thing. I have not directly told my friends to, but they know why I did, and might end up doing it too. I mean, if they think their main audience is MAGA then let them go for it. However, when Trump is in, and if he can implement his Project 2025 agenda (I know he denied it, but I don't believe him), then journalists who displease him may end up in prison. That is what happens when you become the tool for fascist propaganda.

I did too last week. I did it by phone and waited almost an hour—obviously I wasn’t the only one. And the rep I spoke to was not the only rep answering calls either. I also cancelled my renewals for Wapo and the New Yorker.

*Excellent*!!!

Expand full comment

Though I have to say, since all this is only anecdotal evidence, when I called to cancel our NYT subscription, the rep answered rightaway. :/ (And btw the ONLY way you can actually cancel your NYT subscription (not pause it) is by calling!!!) I gave that poor rep a piece of my mind when he asked me why I was cancelling. Who I recognize is totally not responsible for the paper's decline. But he did ask so there's that..;)

Expand full comment

oh wow ok, I didn't think about that last scenario, eeeekkkk!!! Btw, I actually posted on facebook that I had finally got fed up and had unsubscribed to the NYT. And a couple of days later, a couple of my friends said they followed suit.. Oh yeah, I have incredible reach, LOL!!!

I now actually hate the NYT. It's become a rag-style publication with an intelligentsia veneer.

I loved seeing Heather Cox Richardson interviewed by Christiane Amanpour on her weekly program on CNN, The Amanpour Hour, about the choice of Biden over Trump and her historian view.

HCR repeatedly says this is a gift she has, many thanks to the huge success of her book, Democracy Awakening, now being released in paperback. She has put herself on a demanding schedule to share from her historian's perspective what lies ahead for us should #45 be returned to the presidency.

I agree with you. The day after the debate when they were fixated on negative Biden things, I wrote to MSNBC and suggest they read the transcripts from donnie’s fraud trial. They have so many talented narrators, it would be very interesting. They could also show courtroom sketches during the reading.

America must follow France and England and form coalitions that will crush the right wing fascist Trump and his Project 2025 plan to destroy democracy! MeidasTouch has been playing clips from other online progressive news outlets already pushing for a united front. We have the template a democratic victory over tyranny. We would be absolure fools not to pick up the ball and run with it.

Totally. One thing we should not be doing is pushing Biden out. If Kamala is the person to take on the White House, she can do it once he is elected and take his time handing over the reigns. That is not what I want. I am not worried about his age. My mom who is 90 perhaps, although she lives among others who are in the mid 90s and fit as a fiddle. She is still a person I turn to to talk about life, and I value her so much. I wish the USA were a country that valued people when they get older. Biden would be doing better in Japan right now. Any Democratic politician from my state whom I find not backing Biden will be replaced with the name of my 23-year-old nephew who just finished chef school. I trust him more because he backs Biden. That shows some political insight that they lack.

Expand full comment

Totally. Kamala is the perfect VP. She has international experience from going to high school in Montreal Quebec when her Mom was teaching at McGill University. A champion for womens rights and a top of the class legal mind. President Biden called into Morning Joe and was brilliant. He is honest. Trump and RFKjr are both on Epstein flight logs.....Joe Biden is NOT!!!

I just watched a CBS Sunday interview with Dan Rather - apparently missed it - it was a month ago. Now he's 92 - and quite frankly, the tone (lower) of voice sounds much like Biden's - as we age, you know, we dont tend to yell and shout(well most of us)! We certainly do realize the continued ability and intelligence of Dan Rather! But I guess its beyond comprehension exactly what the stress of being the President of US truly does to one's physicality - even if you arent 81!!! Remember the "young" Obama of 2008 - compared to the "old" Obama in 2016? And he wasnt in his late 70s when he won!! The White House staff exists to ASSIST the President in his job. Its NOT in their job description to tell our esteemed press information that these days they will immediately yammer out online & everywhere else.

As I commented earlier - I was so absolutely disgusted with seeing people who I thought were actual journalists acting like vultures in the WH Press briefing. They owe us and the WH Press Secretary an apology! It was disgusting.

Especially after sitting & watching the Dan Rather interview.

Obama, who came from my community, was a lightweight compared to Joe Biden. What I mean by that is he lacked the lifelong experience and wisdom which makes some things easier. Biden has Harris waiting in the wings. I just attended a Heather Cox Richardson talk to Democrats Abroad, which was brilliant. I know it was recorded so I will share it. Biden is making sure to give Harris the international experience she lacks. However, Obama had to deal with racism which added to the obstructionism, and frankly he was not overturning the Neocon agenda. Biden is doing that which is why they are going after him like vultures including the press. Also, 92, is not 81, but Warren Buffett runs a multinational company at 93, and no one is asking him to step down. Biden is actually gifted as a politician, which is why with the most obstructionist congress ever, he has just gotten things done. He can play the waiting game and has not caved on anything. He might have negotiated, but we got a budget that was humane still, and Ukraine finally got funding. He managed to get all of these things in a bipartisan way, which is him defeating Trump who is sitting in the wings with his Evangelical Christian base, and expecting them to follow his wishes. Then, the business community has to support an White Nationalist Christian agenda because that is the base Trump is relying on. They will do it for the tax breaks because they are all whores for money, selling their souls to the devil. I don't even pay attention to press that is covering Biden's age, because that was the story when he gained everyone's backing in the primary, before he ran again. Now he is THE CANDIDATE!

Expand full comment

Yes to all of the above - I agree. The reason I mentioned Obama's physical appearance before and after his administration was to point out exactly what a toll - physically and mentally that office takes. I find it really amazing that Biden at 81 has accomplished so much in a short time. And yeah - Harris is learning and gaining experience every day. She is a big part of the reason my concern for any age-related issue doesnt make me hesitate to vote for them.

The whole ageism attack? Really pisses me off.

I agree about Harris as a great VP who will make a great president, but the more years under the truly gifted politician Biden will make her that much better. Biden got Obama in, and he has gotten Harris set up. The racism and sexism is a double whammy for her, so he could pass the baton in the end and will pass it before if he needs to.

Bless you! This will be helpful. I used your link to the document itself and downloaded it. I just posted this on FB:

Project 2025 -- I just began reading this monstrous document. As with any document/book/manuscript I begin by getting a feel for the author's tone.

Of course, it was written by a committee, so it automatically stands at a distance from the targeted readers who are certainly not me or people like me. Their target is also not their base supporters, but rather the inner circle of conservatives who feel that keeping a lid on the actions of the citizenry by assuring that the government's powerbase is a top-down system.

So, already my Citizenship class lessons have leapt from storage and into my prefrontal cortex for faster recall and stimulated my amygdala to alert my body into fight or flight mode.

More to follow.

Thanks, Joyce, for exposing the colossal arrogance of the minority right wing as they try to use the Supreme Court and their felonious dupe Trump to impose their pseudo-Christian, neo Fascist will on the majority in this country. It's amazing/ horrifying that it has reached this point, but if everybody gets informed and VOTES BLUE maybe we can prevail!

Now for today: I asked the medical tech if she was registered to vote - yes, but she wasn’t sure about voting because she dislikes both candidates. Do you know what project 2025 is? No what is it? I said it is everything you can think of that you don’t want. We didn’t get very far as she watches fox! And her biggest concern is that Biden let in all those criminals in on our border! Why is this her MAJOR CONCERN AS WE LIVE IN NORTHERN INDIANA? So I failed today, but will try again tomorrow.
