Joyce, your hopefulness is encouraging. Your determination is inspiring. Thank you for your leadership and commitment. It gives us hope for when the dark days come our way. I hope all of us can follow your example. “Hard work is good work.”
"Hard work, Kathi, is good work," reminds me of my new Motto/,Tag line.
We have to get to work. "You can't wring your hands when you're rolling up your sleeves." Pat Schroeder
In 1972, she was the 2nd youngest woman ever to be elected to Congress, served Colorado citizens for 24 years; ran for President in 1988; in 2023, she asked that a brick be made with her ashes to hold doors open for other women.
🧨🧨🧨🧨Don't give up in advance. I read some fascinating information about how the federal bureaucracy—the hated and feared Deep State—can help stop Trump's henchmen from getting anywhere fast. Give yourself reasons to hope!
I highly recommend the great little book of big ideas, "On Tyranny" by Timothy Synder ~ I read it over and over again just to remind myself that it is possible to push back on fascist ideology trying to take hold of our republic.
Thank you, Joyce for these encouraging words. I will not give in to a dictatorship. I didn't immigrate to and become a citizen of an authoritarian fascist style dictatorship and now nearing the end of life I have no intention of doing so now. What's more I don't think those (except for the uber wealthy crowd who voted for him did either. They have been so poorly educated, the poor souls didn't recognize his lies and false promises, they really believe he loves them and will care for them. IF we are allowed the midterm elections in 2026 and IF we have activists running the DNC DCCC and DSCC; then we should see a huge turn toward normalcy and government for the common good.
I wish I believed that Fay, I thought Kamala ran the most hopeful campaign of my lifetime and I’m 78, the insipid orange turd didn’t have any coattails, the fact that maggots won the house by the slimmest of margins is testimony to how much the states have been gerrymandered. Where I live in GA no repugnantkin stands much of a chance at a house seat and the opposite is true in a lot of the country. The census coming up in 2030 will maybe offer some changes, but even those changes will take time to implement. I would like to see the house increased dramatically and tied to population increases, that would get rid of gerrymandering and force people to actually run for office instead of being guaranteed a seat because of some committee. We might actually see leaders rise up out of the herd because they have the ability to lead. All of this could work if people actually voted which may be asking a bit much. 🤷♂️🙏
It is definitely a challenge, Dick, and I have much less chance than you in seeing it through (I'll be 92 in March). But I really believe that if the 2025ers don't enforce the dictatorship on us as they plan and we have the 2026 Midterm elections AND the Democrats replace the current leadership of at least the DNC on February 1st we'll at least stand a chance of reversing the Congress in 2026 for the 2027 - 2029 120th Congress. I hope we can return to the people loving common good party we had from 1933 to the early 60's.
You helped me with a difficult decision yesterday. A family member posted false information about President Biden’s recent commutations and pardons. The post already had supportive comments and many likes. The info didn’t seem right to me. I did some very quick research and, sure enough, the “pardoned” criminal my family member described was actually one of the convicted prisoners the U.S. sent back to China in trade for detained Americans. I posted a correction comment, including a link to my information source. I’ve gotten no response to my correction; I imagine some family members are mad at me. But I just couldn’t let that misinformation continue to circulate without comment. Polite silence just isn’t okay anymore.
I also try to present facts, without using any negativity, to counter misinformation and lies. I find it very rare that anyone ever responds. Almost never any “Oops, I was wrong.” But that doesn’t deter me. Keep it up, Laurie, on the chance it just might soak in.
You are a hero! That's precisely the right thing, even if it seems futile. "Their" side has made a habit of misinformation and disinformation. I think it's a tactic that Putin used in his efforts to tarnish our democracy. Please continue to do this, and I will, too.
Just gave a one-month subscription to a very good friend. We generally don't exchange gifts, but I thought I'd make an exception for this. I hope she enjoys it and will continue as a subscriber, free or otherwise.
We stand together with a strong nation that will never bow down. We will keep our spirit intact and find what joy we can in every day. The day will come, and I believe it won't be long, that we can hold our heads up high with pride in our lawmakers and thankfulness for having had the strength to help save our democracy. Not today or tomorrow maybe. But soon. God bless the fighters in all of us and God Bless America. Happy Holidays everyone.
I look forward every day to your wise comments and encouragement. And I so admire your wisdom and particularly your historic perception. Keep going, we all need you. Gene Monahan
Thank you Joyce. Love the clarity of your posts, and the way they help us understand these crazy days ahead. You make it easier. Enjoy the holidays.......

This book is justly famous. I highly recommend it also.

And the ability to “read” which is what I read (mistakenly) first and think worth a mention.
Yes! This! Thank you!

Laurie, good for you! Facts are tough for the misinformed. I agree, let no comment
by them stand uncontested.
