This precise gnawing thought is annoyingly aggravating a corner of my brain. I'd loove to drive LA to Austin to visit family - it's beautiful country all the way. But, especially at 70 years old, I rue the possibility of a medical emergency on those long stretches of road between the major cities. Obviously, not a childbirth emergency, but any health thing. Rural areas are being emptied of health professionals of all sorts and health centers are closing.
