Great signs and pictures. Thanks Joyce

The sentiments posted here and elsewhere (see Robert Hubbell's Today's Edition) are all terrific! I saw one from Vermont that said: "We're not here because there's hope. There's hope because we're here!"

LiverpoolFCfan's avatar

"In Freeport, Maine, where I was, we saw children, teenagers, and young people lining Main Street in increasing numbers as the morning drew on. I hear that’s the case across the country. Young people engaged, fired up, marching."

It's so important that we be good role models for the next generations.

When my kids were young and in competitive, challenging positions, some of the adults would say dismissively "well, life's just not fair" and my response was always, "yes, maybe it's not, but as the adults in the room it's our job to make it more fair, right?"

I hope that's something we can do right here, right now.

I loved that Vermont poster!

it was almost comical, how polite the MN rally was. When you look at the SEA of people, you cannot tell that the vast majority of us were carrying carefully made signs! We were too polite to hold them up and block the view of others! When someone sang beautifully to us, we all became respectfully still and calmed down, to the point that speakers probably found us too quiet. Everyone was smiling, saying a lot of "ope, excuse me" and making sure others could see. I decided the word of the day, the year, the generation, is "neighbor". We were all good neighbors to each other today. I'm so proud of Minnesota.

We are in Rome. One of our Italian friends chickened out because of fear of violence. I told my 83 year old husband, "We are going. People of Minnesota put their bodies in front of ICE thugs fearlessly. They are my inspirations." We went. It was an exhilarating, Italian event. Thank you Minnesota.

Knowing that does my heart good. This Minnesotan thanks you right back.

Gracie, Rome! I love you!!!

Thank you! 💕

Amiamo Roma e la gente.

I noticed the same thing about polite Minnesotans at the Capitol today. But they sure yelled "Ice out!" at the top of their lungs when the Boss asked them to.

I was born & raised in Minnesota and my heart & soul are still there (along with most of my family.) I will forever be proud of that heritage. Let everyone know that "Minnesota Nice" is in no way, shape, or form "Minnesota Weak" or any other term of apathy or giving up. We all need to be strong wherever we live in the US - so much evidence of that today with the great turn-out all over the nation for the "No Kings" rallies!!

Mama Bear's avatar

Yes! That was one thing Governor Walz said in his speech and he has said it before:”Don’t mistake our kindness for weakness!”

Susanna J. Sturgis's avatar

When nice people and kind people get fired up, we're *focused* -- and that makes us a force to be reckoned with!

Julia's avatar

Yes sometimes people don't understand people can be ever so nice but if they hear or see someone being harmed, they will speak up or take action to protect perfect strangers. That's strength. These are the good ones, the helpers, the heros.

Outdoorluvr's avatar

Same here. Wish I could have joined them!

Talia Giordano's avatar

Every news story today featured Minnesota because they wanted to highlight how the state resisted the vicious assaults by trump and his ICE goons and bounced back. We’re proud of you too Minnesota!

Sue Turner's avatar

Whenever I feel not up to protesting or calling or writing I remind myself of the brave people of Minnesota and I am inspired to keep resisting this corrupt evil administration. My heart is with everyone in Minnesota. Stay safe keep up the good work!

Sue & Rick ! BRAVA.. BRAVO..!!! ...the both of you.!! 👏👏👏👏

I've heard that from Minnesota came the word "neighboring." Wherever it came from, let's keep it going!

Martha's avatar

Excellent, we the people are neighborly!

Deirdre Toeller's avatar

It was like that in Chicago!

Punkette's avatar

Thanks, Mama Bear. I watched the livestream from St. Paul and it was wonderful. 💙 Love you, Minnesota!

"Minnesota Nice". does not mean that Minnesotans are wimps! They truly speak softly and carry big sticks!

You all are SO courageous and we across this land look to you as a beacon! THANK YOU. MN folks are polite. I had friends from Duluth. Really miss them, the Great Generation rolling over in the graves crying.

The “No Kings” protests are a crucial counterpoint to the narrative that a Republican mid-term election loss must be fraud because there’s no evidence of opposition. There IS evidence of strong opposition to the Trump Regime and GOP rule all over America, and these No Kings protest videos prove it. It’s why legacy news does’t publish them, and why we must.

Louise's avatar

An excellent observation!

Susanna J. Sturgis's avatar

Great point -- and they're also a crucial counterpoint to what happened on January 6, 2021, and all the anonymous threats that have been made to judges, legislators, and ordinary citizens.

sunbirdie93@gmail.com's avatar

Good point - we don't have to be violent to make our point. And part of our point is that we are all neighbors in this country - act that way!!

JBR's avatar

Will the djt party tamper eith results? They'll claim fraud if they lose regardless. They'll kill people to stay in power. Why think that they'll be persuaded by anything.

Eric Root's avatar

Every Trump accusation is a confession. So yes, all those accusations about fraud and fixing the outcomes, they’re the index to Republicans plans.

LYNN COOK's avatar

Spot On, Eric....Spot.on.!!👌👌

sunbirdie93@gmail.com's avatar

In my mind, the protests are not to convince the MAGAs that we can resist them successfully, it's to convince the REST of us that we can. And we will.

LYNN COOK's avatar

BOLO.! Be On.The Lookout !!!...cheating is in djt's. DNA !

Keep reminding.us all, JBR.!!! 👏👏👏

So many good signs and possibilities for future ones! This is a good one! I can easily remember it: Substitute for my Martini order with straight up, no trump, no ice.

I was on the beach in San Francisco with 5,000 other people, making a human sign telling trump that it was time to go. Solidarity is important!

The FB photo post was amazing. Well done and thank you!

The picture of that on the beach was fantastic! What a great idea.

Message clear. What did it accomplish

Miriam Lewis's avatar

The No Kings protests let other Americans know that they are not alone in opposing trump's regime. They let people in other countries know that many Americans oppose trump's regime. They are vehicles for resistance and communities of resistance. Most people taking part are involved in other resistance activities and/or supporting efforts to keep our democracy from being destroyed by this regime.

Folks were so kind today. It was an undercurrent throughout the whole 3 hours. The genuine kindness of everyone looking out for everyone around them. From Dothan, Alabama.

K Brahney's avatar

We had more than 4,000 in Williamsburg VA. My sign said 250 years of No Kings.

Theodore D'Afflisio's avatar

Joined the protest at Redwood City, CA. Good turnout. Wonderful signs and costumes. All ages from the 80+ crowd like myself down to teenagers and toddlers and all having a a good time, even while recognizing the serious nature of the protest. The drivers on the main boulevard, ironically El Camino Real, were honking away with their cars awash in American flags, No Kings signs.

My forever home. I'm so happy to hear it was a good showing. How i wish I could live there again. 😪

My grand daughter went with me to the No Kings Rally today in Belleville IL near her home. We enjoyed holding our signs and loved the creativity in many different signs. We did this for her and all the grandchildren. Then we had lunch and ice cream! So 😎🙏🕊️

MJAtlanta's avatar

What a wonderful experience! I hope I can share that with my little granddaughters some day! (Or better yet, not need to!)

Holly Barber's avatar

There were several youngsters participating in our rally in Flower Mound, Texas. Two had signs. One said, “ ‘We the people’ means me, too!” The other sign said, “I’m 6 and even I know better!” I was so glad to see parents empowering their children.

Cathy Enns's avatar

Our small town of Anacortes. Washington lined about 8 blocks of downtown on both sides of the street! People of all ages were there with every kind of issue on their minds--one youngster was using sidewalk chalk to express her view: "Greenlin is not for sale!"

Anne Jenkins's avatar

We had a great turnout in Springfield Mo too. Our new stations are owned by Sinclair and Gray so of course they barely talked about it!

Mary R Manship's avatar

The Sinclair Drago was green with envy!

That is why this is so great so we can read what is going on in your area! So thanks to you a lot of us know and that is great news that no matter where we are we value our freedom!

We live on a small island of less than 1000 people in the red state of SC. Many of us made trips to bigger demonstrations in larger cities, so I was surprised we had 45 people enthusiastically protesting and enjoying the fact that most of the folks who drove by showed their support by honking, waving and cheering us on…small but meaningful victories!

return to normalcy's avatar

Yes, what I call automotive support (honking) is very important! It's like food for the soul of a protestor!!!

Great turnout today in Olympia, Washington. It's a wonderful feeling to be with so many like-minded people on a beautiful sunny day!
