Brava for Ms. Lee’s candor that the agency she represents is in contempt on so many levels. Impeach Bondi and Noem.

It may be overwhelming for Julie, but I can’t imagine how much this has affected detainees and their families. She gets exactly what she deserves. You sleep with wolves…

Just think, before there was Trump, we act had a functioning country. It’s now such a nightmare. He found his stooges who will rip the nation to shreds just for a little power and publicity. As for the demon himself, he will continue flooding the market with shit to keep the pedophile case on the sidelines. He will do anything including military attacks, killing people in the streets. He will steal anywhere he can.

Remember only to things; keep everyone guessing and keep the stories of him raping underage girls from the media.

celeste k.'s avatar

That tells me part of our mission to save this country and ourselves from trump is to shed light on the truth to stop the 'guessing', and keep trump's partnership in the rape of young girls front and center.

Very good point about the detainees. Unless Julie hired on this year, she was hardly sleeping with wolves before the fascists took over.

I think β€œYou sleep with *dogs* you wake up with fleas” is the worse expression in this case. Wolves may eat you alive, fleas will suck your blood until you shrivel and die!

Thanks for that, I could not remember the line so I thought wolves would fit.

I look forward to trendy urban restaurants serving "Somali Tater-Tot Hot Dish" served by Minnesota Nice waitstaff, responding "you betcha" to customer requests for extra ketchup.

Having grown up in Wisconsin 15 miles away from the Twin Cities, I think that would be great. And I worked there and still have friends and family in the area. My dad always said β€œyou betcha”. Casseroles are comfort food there. They need lots of casseroles right now. Excellent comment.

The DOJ is overwhelmed because so many real lawyers have been fired or have resigned, and because they hadn't anticipated that so many people would go to court over their arbitrary arrests.

Marliss Desens's avatar

They also did not anticipate that so many lawyers would step up to help the people being arrested.

Thank you Joyce

Here’s a thought for Julie Le if the job sucks at the DOJ maybe just quit, and find a job on the other side to assist the immigrants. It’s quite obvious that the DOJ is as crooked as all the consigliere’s for a mob boss…

bitchybitchybitchy's avatar

I suspect that many DOJ lawyers are job hunting and hoping to get out.

Too bad. Keep ice’s feet to the fire and try every illegal activity that ice does. Do not let up RESIST.

And deny them comfort food all February!

It's refreshing to see an honest opinion come out of the DOJ. Actually, I would like the name of the DOJ changed so something more appropriate, such as the Department of Injustice…

Nevoustrumpezpas's avatar

Maybe the Dept. of War on Americans. Just a thought.

Susan Stone's avatar

I like it! But I thought it was already taken by DHS. Maybe the two departments should merge so they can share the name?

RealNowherman's avatar

If he can change the names of the Gulf of Mexico and the Kennedy Center, you can give DOJ a new name.

Arlene Rosner's avatar

The department of INJUSTICE

It will be reborn, when all the sycophants that T**** has put in place are removed, when he is finally out of office. There is a core of real public servants there, most of whom cannot afford to resign, and who do honest work and are as appalled at the leadership is we are.

Michael Stayton's avatar

Lawyers who have been fired or resigned from the DOJ should be prime candidates to be rehired when there is a real Department of Justice. It should be a badge of honor.

Those hired in the last year should keep their resume up to date. They may need it.

J Glaspie's avatar

Hold the entire so-called DOJ in contempt, and jail them all!

Ralph T.'s avatar

"WE BELONG!" sounds like a damn good slogan/bumpersticker.

Deb Pierce McCabe's avatar

Oh my! High drama, indeed! She's right, it does suck. I hope she gets some sleep, and that sanity returns-- but this seems a long way off. Thanks, Joyce! I suppose I shouldn't be smiling, it's pretty awful, but this at least was amusing. For now.

Nancy (South NJ coast)'s avatar

Joyce, what happens when lawyers show up in court and blame being overworked for failure to obey court orders? There are habeas issues involved here--deprivation of liberty without due process. Shouldn't the judge order the detainees released if the DOJ is unable to follow his instructions? The burden of proof is on the government.

James Coyle's avatar

That was my thought as well.

cameron mcconnell's avatar

Don't forget the conditions under which those folks are being held. Some are dying. Urgent to get them out of there. The DOJ lawyers can sleep when they are dead.

Kevin Dale Green's avatar

The government is acting in bad faith by indiscriminately arresting people to fill arbitrary quotas. They then argue that they should receive leniency in regard to providing proper due process because they've arrested too many people. Yes, the government lawyers are overwhelmed, but they are only overwhelmed due to the government's chosen course of action. That isn't a valid excuse for ignoring court orders.

David J. Sharp's avatar

Hmm, sending a SAUSA to defend DoJ refusal to comply with a federal judge’s orders … seems like an insult β€” DoJ couldn’t find someone with authority?

Dale of Green Gables's avatar

Not a question of authority --- by statute SAUSAs have the same legal power and authority as AUSAs --- it's a matter of experience and the fact that the ranks of veteran AUSAs have been gutted by the so-called government's overreach and lawlessness.

David J. Sharp's avatar

Yesβ€”good correction.

Deb Pierce McCabe's avatar

I think the insult was exactly the point.

The Judge's order dated 2/2/26 says "Julie Le and Ana Voss must attend the hearing on behalf of Respondents." https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.mnd.230241/gov.uscourts.mnd.230241.32.0.pdf

Anyone today who remains as a federal prosecutor must have ther ability and skills of Pamsy Bondi. It must be tough to be thrown into the front lines, when you have no legal substance on which to stand.

I admire those judges who state frankly β€˜you don’t know the difference between shit from shinola.’ [For young folks, shinola was an old word for shoe polish.]

I am delighted to read some of the judges’ decisions, both regarding ICE and the wind energy structures, which Trump sought to stop for β€˜national security considerations.’ Huh, too secret to discuss.

Since Trump has preferred attractive young women over seasoned prosecutors, the conflict between judges and prosecutors seems unfair.

So what about the Supreme Court, with Doubting Thomas and Asshole Alito?

Ruth Sheets's avatar

Maybe if more of these cases involving ICE's ignoring of the law and the judge's orders can be put out more broadly so people around the country can see what ICE and its leadership have become, more even MAGAs will step up and tell this Trumpian regime "NO MORE! We want the immigrants here and ICE out." I can dream, can't I.

James Coyle's avatar

I saw something online a couple of days ago that made me smile. The commenter was saying that if we want the US crime rate to go down, we should keep the immigrants and deport the MAGAts.

cameron mcconnell's avatar

Exactly. Until this week the only murders in Minneapolis were by ICE. (We have had a non-ICE murder this week)
