So funny, 'joy of chickens' reminds me of the group 'Joy of Cooking' from the early 70s, but I wouldn't think of cooking chickens *ever* - pescatarian, thank you (except for octopus, because I won't eat anything that very well may be more intelligent than I am!), though I *will* eat eggs!
“She kept her ears permanently tuned to the chicken voices outside, so knew immediately when a coyote had crept into the yard, and barreled screaming for the front door before the rest of us had a clue. (I don't know about the coyote, but I nearly needed CPR.) These hens owed their lives and eggs to Lily, there was no question.”

Brava to the fowl ladies (meant with great affection) for reminding us of the tender and beautiful cycles of life! And for helping us get our heads around nature and nurture and what's most important.
Your chickens are always welcome substitutes for your erudite analyses of the BS happening with the law or what’s left of it. Have a good night off. See ya later.
thank you for the joy of chickens!
Good relief from the agony of the news...

Love the reprieve from ever awful news. The Artemis II and the joy of chickens really helps to bring my spirits up.
Thanks. The occasional night off helps remind us there is life outside the news
What a great idea, Jan! I'd vote for that!
Joyce - maybe if you could get the flock up to 25 we could replace the Preisdent’s cabinet with them?
The chickens would make more sense.
Poor chickens!! That’s a terrifying idea. Good grief!
I love your beautiful chickens!

We chickens do not ask for much.
A little grain.
A little sunlight.
A little respect for the fact that we have, frankly, been modeling functional behavior this entire time.
If you wish to improve, begin by watching us.
Not for long — five minutes will do.
That is usually enough to reveal where you have gone wrong.
May your days be orderly, your intentions transparent, and your meetings mercifully brief.
Thank you Joyce for all you do. Love the chickens! Such personalities!
They are beautiful. 😍
