Will there be realistic successes against 47 while we wait for Democrats to get beyond outrage and deliver workable policies from active leadership. So weary of waiting for leaders to step up and lead the overcoming of evil.
Washington, D.C. — Senate Finance Committee (SFC) ranking member RON WYDEN, D-Ore., today [3/22 ] issued the following statement on reports that survivors of Jeffrey Epstein’s sex trafficking ring reached a settlement with Bank of America, which they [SFC investigation] accused of enabling Epstein’s crimes.
Context: Big Banks like BofA "looked the other way" enabling the financing of the massive Epstein sex trafficking scheme.
Sen Wyden: "first step in the right direction". Take notice the settlement money goes to the Survivors.
In a decision that has implications for how elections are handled in other predominately Democratic areas in swing-state Georgia, a state appeals court ruled this past Friday (20) that Fulton County can reject Republican nominees to the county election board and ask for other choices.
What the federal election day statutes require is that voters submit their choices for their elected representatives — that is, cast their votes — by election day. Mailing their ballot by a voter by election day (and postmarked accordingly) satisfies this. The federal election day statutes do not preempt the many other deadlines set by state law for aspects of the election process – including registration, application for absentee ballots, receipt by an official of mail-in ballots, counts, recounts, protests, and certification. The election day statutes leave the policy judgments as to when to set those deadlines to each state. There is no justifiable reason for federal courts or government to arrogate to themselves any of those policy judgments.
Aren't there recent changes in the postal service that go to regional locations may not be postmarked on the day they're dropped off at the post office? Changes that might delay the postmarking of an item of mail by even two to three days, greatly impacting the election? I can see that as being a big factor in elections...
I do not have any faith in anything the fifth circuit court does. I don’t have much faith in the Supreme Court either. They have caused mayhem and havoc on the citizens of these United States by giving their boy dumpy immunity. Geesh, I hope they are regretting that nauseating decision, if not now, soon before he tears this country apart even more. I probably won’t live to see all of the reconstruction that will be required. I just hope I live long enough to see him dead.
Now that, to see him DEAD, is the wish of hundreds of thousands if not millions of 'us' old people (89). The sooner he is out of office, in prison, or dead, the better for all the world.
You would think, considering the inevitable demographic changes occurring in the U.S., the party formerly known as Republican would begin to become more inclusive as a simple means of self-preservation --- as opposed to attempting to suppress the vote and thus take the very real chance of disenfranchising large numbers of its own voters. But then again, we're no longer talking about a party per se but largely a personality cult. Research points to the SAVE act, now being debated in the Senate, heavily impacting red states and especially rural areas, and mail voting remains popular in some deeply red and again, rural, parts of the country. Then, besides Mississippi, three states with complete Republican control — Texas, West Virginia and Alaska — currently allow for some form of late-arriving ballots. Before Demento showed up on the political scene, Republicans were once the party promoting and using mail voting. The practice helped catapult the party to political dominance in Florida. In Georgia a mail voting law was endorsed by a Republican governor and passed by a Republican-controlled legislature. The gang that can't shoot straight does manage to find its collective foot on a regular basis.
Thank you for the article, Professor. My teeth will be clinched tight tomorrow as the court will hear arguments. I expect Justice Thomas always to come down on the side of conservatives . Let’s hope , that an oligarch stays away and keeps money from this court otherwise it will show the corrupt behavior in this court. This is the people’s court and not any oligarch court, it belongs to the people. Law should be honored by part and impartial justices.
Republicans are trying to get the courts to create new law, as the Fifth Circuit has done here in the case of counting mailed ballots in Mississippi. I doubt there is any possibility the Supreme Court will reverse the Fifth on this matter. Time for comprehensive legislation in Congress to protect voters' rights--after we win back a Democratic majority.
We need every Democrat plus "open-eyed/& minded.... Republican patriots to vote for the future of a free and sane USA government.
The USA will not stand as a nation with thugs in the White House robbing the coffers ie tax dollars from the labor of American citizens, for their own purposes....neglecting our citizenry ie, young and elderly who are in need!!!!....as well as our infrastructure!!!!
Trump is spending more time trying to steal the resources of other nations like Venezuela or taking over a weakened government in Cuba or restructuring the White House to include a ballroom, than caring for American citizens whose tax dollars he is taking and using for his own purposes....WITHOUT APPROVAL....like a bandit!!!!
I think there is some subtlety about the Noem v Al Otro Lado that I'm not 'getting' based on the write-up. Can someone help me understnd this one better?
What part are you not getting? Border Partrol blocking people from coming into the country to deny them the opportunity to apply for asylum? The dissent in the 9th Circuit Court of Appeal decision and why the government wants SCOTUS to use that opinion?
✅ Emission Capture: A 245-foot boom with a flexible pipe attaches to the ship’s exhaust, channeling emissions into a, STAX Engineering barge-mounted processing unit.
✅ Pollutant Removal: The system, which functions as a "smokestack vac," captures particulate matter and nitrogen oxides.
✅ Port Compliance: Designed for docked ships (container, tanker, auto carriers), this technology helps ports meet CARB (California Air Resources Board) regulations, which aim for significant reduction of at-berth emissions.
✅ Complementary Technology: It serves as a, Stax Engineering "complementary solution" to shore power, particularly for vessels that are not yet equipped to plug into land-based electricity.

Maybe too many of us "waiting for leaders to step up" is part of the problem?
I finally understand why the Chinese phrase "May you live in interesting times" is considered a curse, or at least an ambiguous wish.
❣️✨⚖️ TY Joyce Vance for keeping us informed & focused during these difficult & distracting times.
We sincerely appreciate your information which is so very IMPORTANT!

For about the same cost as another Mideast war, renewables could make oil much less relevant.
Come November a course correction might be employed when voting taxpayers get a chance to register our displeasure.

Just holding my breath waiting to see how the judicial mop will flop. This guessing game is getting old.
Thanks for all of your efforts to keep us all aware of what is happening with the Courts. Your efforts are much appreciated!
