"The Rest of the Mess"

And it's come to this. No surprise.

Vote Blue No Matter Who.

Big Tent = Blue Wave.

This is our only way out.

Dawna Stromsoe's avatar

Vet EVERY candidate. There are Republicans running as Democrats.

Sandra Waide's avatar

Yes, vet every candidate. I have lived in a state where this occurred in the past and it is both dishonest and a disservice to the citizens who thought they were voting for their actual philosophical choice. As for George Conway - I swear he is related to Fetterman somehow.

Dawna Stromsoe's avatar

I’m supporting Jack Schlossberg in that race. I WAS a big supporter of Fetterman but not now knowing his wife has been getting horrific death threats for being a immigrant. Unforgivable to me that he won’t stand up for his wife & subjecting his kids to that racist misogynist shit.

"There are Republicans running as Democrats."

Can you provide evidence?

I can think of one possible case - very newly declared Democrat and carpetbagger George Conway, who has jumped into the NYC Democratic House primary to replace retiring Rep, Jerry Nadler. George Conway paved the way for MAGA, strongly supported Trump in 2016, sought a position in his administration, and very belatedly turned against Trump. Now Conway has suddenly moved to NYC and is running on a platform of "I was in the GOP inner circle so I know best how to deal with them." Sheesh.

I’m not convinced the oyster guy in Maine, who worked for Erik Prince overseas, is a Dem.

David J. Sharp's avatar

Yes, it has come to this

With all the GOP complic …

lin•'s avatar

Primarily all the GOP. But everyone who refused to vote for Clinton or Harris.

David J. Sharp's avatar

You’re probably right … but it ruins the scansion.

In the email "The Week Ahead" I don't think you meant to say regarding Maduro and his wife "Both pled guilty and are currently detained pending trial." If both pled guilty, there would not be any need for a trial! I think it should have said "not guilty".

Debi's avatar

Thanks for keeping us apprised, but the coming week looks like a major continuation of the insane clown show that is the current administration doing its best to screw up as much as possible. I keep wondering when all this demented and delusional garbage will end - I guess not this week.

Bryan Sean McKown's avatar

Got that right Debi. This Week will see a new phase of War in Iran specifically 20 miles off shore in the Straight of Hormuz

Per Axios' Marco Caputo citing 4 sources say that trump will attempt to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. trump is "weighing" the seizure of Kharg Island just 20 miles off IRAN's coast. You may recall that U.S. "precision" strikes on Kharg Island last week were careful NOT to destroy the oil depot's infrastructure.

NYT: "As of March 14, 2026 the U.S. is deploying approximately 2,500 Marines & the U.S. amphibious assault ship, U.S.S. Tripoli to the Middle East with reports they are in position to potential seize or raid Kharg Island once Iran's main oil export hub.

The NYT identified the 31 Marine Expeditionary Unit that is capable of seizing the Island.

The NYT did not identify the "tell" to the operation when trump said he was going to bomb Kharg Island again just for "fun" which was another misdirecting lie.

Buckle Up.

Lanette's avatar

Bombing just for fun? Unhinged language. Putting our troops at risk while he spends his time golfing and threatening the press and our former allies? Exactly what we have come to expect. Buckle up, indeed.

He and Kegsbreath are playing war games with their GI Joe sets they got as adults. It’s horrifying! NO KINGS MARCH 28th

wondering, wishing, praying.... this is exhausting. I wish I just didn't care, but I do.

Good that you do MJAtlanta.🙏

It is exhausting, but we need to make sure we leave the country in better shape for our children, grandchildren, etc etc. We can do it!

I just posted that they haven't yet found the basement of possible awfulness. Thanks for reminding me that I'm not being overly pessimistic.

David J. Sharp's avatar

So Cornyn is willing to scrap the filibuster so he can out-Paxton Paxton? Why? Because SAVE can save Jim Crow … which hardly needs saving these days.

Doug G's avatar

Well, David, I think he's also doing this to gain a presidential endorsement over Paxton. It's transparent and shameless pandering to the pedo.

David J. Sharp's avatar

“… shameless pandering to a pedo” says it all. We used to lead the world … now we’re its straight man.

Re: Maduro

Surely this is one of your rare typos that you’ve warned us about.

“Both pled guilty”

I’d wondered why have a trial if they had pled guilty.

No worries, Joyce. You’ve got a lot on your plate. Speaking for your fans, we forgive you.

That His Worship could decide who can be a cosmetologist in Oklahoma would at least fall into an area he might actually understand. Certainly not incursions.

Nancy's avatar

I loved that analogy. He, of course, wants to control the world. Cosmetologists beware and barbers, DJT may yet be in charge of your license!

One of the great mysteries to the guy is why we don't ever see anyone else painted orange. You'd thinkk he'd be marketing it. We've all heard of Willaim of Orange. Why not Donald of Orange?

DW's avatar

You have to wonder how good the US attorney's case is against the Maduros's if they're trying to prevent them from getting legal council. Or maybe it's just more of the mean-spiritedness of the current administration

Not sure why you, Ms. Vance, hypothesized Trump deciding who gets to be a barber in OK, because now he'll tell Ms. Bondage to make it so!

Parkin Hunter's avatar

The democrats should ecstatically embrace the talking filibuster. They can spend weeks reading the Epstein files into the Congressional Record with immunity under the speech and debate clause. Could have the victims as guests. No imagination or competence. My bet is once they start reading the files, republicans will cave.

DW's avatar

If the Republicans scrap the filibuster (and I don't really understand how that is arranged…if someone could enlighten me) won't they be in deep doo-doo if they lose the majority in November? I would think they have a big incentive to keep it.

Ron Bravenec's avatar

I cannot comprehend why Republican senators are so hesitant to eliminate the filibuster. Are they afraid that Democrats will take over in 2027? What makes them think that Democrats won’t eliminate it regardless? They had better damn well do so! Republicans have indicated they are unworthy of having any input in governing whatsoever. To hell with “bipartisanship!“

Thanks Joyce. Happy, happy. Joy, joy. Of course I’m being facetious. We are teetering on the verge of another, far worse world war and we’re having problems like this here at home. It’s absolute lunacy.
