But you know who DO wear masks? Home invaders. Future felons. Bank robbers…. The ashamed.

It's Come To This's avatar

Those with much to hide.

David J. Sharp's avatar

Including the cowardice that’s the core of bullying.

Al Keim's avatar

I'm not sure they wore masks.

Ruth Sheets's avatar

Al, the brown shirts didn't need to wear masks; they already had immunity for their crimes. We should never have such immunity here.

Al Keim's avatar

Pretty much what I had supposed Ruth. Of course I haven't checked with the president to be sure though.

Stephen Brady's avatar

The masks facilitate the near-daily violations of Civil Rights and Due Process. We are being run roughshod over by a gangster regime and we are going to have to spend considerable time and effort figuring out how we stop it and keep it from happening again.

David J. Sharp's avatar

It will take generations to recover.

Joe Wilson's avatar

But on the other hand, convicted felon Donald Trump has an established history of refusing to wear a mask.

I don't mean to both-sides here, but fair is fair.

David J. Sharp's avatar

Also an established history of letting others do the dirty work … then get the blame.

Mike N.'s avatar

They can wear masks, but let’s fill them with nitrous oxide…..

David J. Sharp's avatar

Oh, I think they’re laughing too much already—menacing schoolrooms, shooting observers, letting the supremacy flag wave.

Noorillah's avatar

The malicious freak flag of fascist brutality.

Judy CZUBATI's avatar

MANY ARE THE PARDONED INSURRECTIONISTS.

Joanna Denis's avatar

I believe that's true.

Al Keim's avatar

The republicans sell this to the rubes under the guise of going after 'violent, insane, druggies. What MAGA hears is ' pet eating brown Spanish Muslims stealing my job and getting all the benefits'.

Ellie still in the mix in 26's avatar

Even the Gestapo didn't wear masks.

David J. Sharp's avatar

Nor the Brown Shirts—the vicious goon ICE and CPB most resemble.

Susan Stone's avatar

It's long past time for accountability on the part of ICE agents, the DOJ and DHS. They are deliberately escalating the tensions rather than trying to de-escalate them I believe they are trying to provoke riots so that martial law can be imposed.

FREE AMERICA WALKOUT

One year into Trump’s second regime, we face an escalating fascist threat: raids on our communities, troops occupying our cities, attacks on immigrants, families torn apart, mass surveillance, and terror used to keep us silent. It is time for our communities to escalate as well.

2025 was a year of marches that showed our collective strength. And as the threats grow, our movement must evolve and escalate. Trump and his allies have already made clear that a second term would bring a deeper wave of misogyny, racism, xenophobia, and violence than the first.

On January 20, we call on our communities to organize teams, call your neighbors and classmates, and turn your back and walk out on fascism. Host mutual aid planning meetings, organize public service, but walk out to block the normal routines of power, and make the stakes real. This is a protest and a promise. In the face of fascism, we will be ungovernable.

★ We walk away from fascism. ★

★ We walk towards a Free America. ★

★ We fight for a future that belongs to us all. ★

★ Everybody in, nobody out. ★

★ Welcome to the Free America Walkout ★

Got this from Common Cause:

Daniel, an American mother is dead at the hands of ICE – and a government that’s supposed to keep us safe is sending masked gunmen to terrorize millions of our neighbors.

But the people in charge of it all, like Trump, Noem, and Miller, keep contradicting themselves, smearing, and trying to move on without giving us the answers we deserve.

Renee Nicole Good was just 37 years old and was a U.S. citizen. She had just dropped her 6-year-old son off at school when an ICE agent fired into her car in Minneapolis and took her life.

But instead of honoring her legacy and demanding accountability, federal officials like Secretary Kristi Noem went on TV to justify the shooting, accuse Good of “domestic terrorism,” and contradict the video. [1]

Our government is supposed to keep us safe – not kill one of its own citizens. Full transparency and accountability are the bare minimum when a preventable tragedy like this takes place.

Congress has the power and responsibility to investigate ICE’s use of deadly force and hold this administration accountable – and we’re demanding they use it.

That’s why Common Cause is partnering with the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) and the League of Women Voters (LWV) [2] – so we can create an unstoppable wave of public outcry to force lawmakers into action. You can be a part of it by taking action today.

Judy CZUBATI's avatar

Hard to recognize our country anymore.

mary thiel's avatar

How about boycotting soccer matches, trips to Disneyland, cruises, and not investing in corporations who support the trump regime. Since these above actions affect the more well, off, than a general strike would, would these actions work?

Marguerite Gaffney's avatar

ICE agents, DOJ, and DHS follow the playbook for Agents Provocateurs. You correctly point out that they are deliberately escalating the tensions. For example, they cut short an "anti-immigration" operation in Louisiana in order to send thousands of masked, violent operatives to Minneapolis - so that they can create more disorder.

Michael Stayton's avatar

Then Trump can yell: Insurrection!! Insurrection!! Get the military.

Debbie Boerger's avatar

Absolutely, Susan. I've begun to view everything done by tRump's administration to have Ulterior motives. Oh, and the Klan wore masks, didn't they? Inspiring terror was the point.

I'm just now watching Live on BBC, awaiting what the outcome with Rubio and people from Greenland and Denmark will be. Before "he" acquired Venezuela, I would not have believed he would actually "take" Greenland, but now I'm not so sure. This man causes chaos that seems to be escalating daily. It feels a bit like being a child sitting in the back seat of a car being driven by a drunk parent. Where are the Republican's? Do they not see the harm this man is doing to our reputation internationally? The diehard MAGA's seem not to care. In the end, everyone will be hurt. They are all on an adrenalin fueled Power Trip. Will "he" send in US troops to Iran? No one has ever managed to control the Persian people, not even Alexander the Great. Look at the absolute mess we made of Iraq, Afghanistan, another one not taken by Alexander.

One more comment...."he" will not willingly leave the White House. Not when he's making it in the image of Mar a Lago. Then what? What would happen? Civil War here on our on soil again?

My stomach hurts....!!! I worry about my grandkids who live in Minnesota and are raring to go to Minneapolis to protest.

'

Susan Stone's avatar

Your description of a child in the back seat of a car with a drunk parent driving is perfect. I couldn't agree more about ulterior motives. trump needs something to make him feel like he's got value, and apparently scaring the country is what it takes to fulfill that need. I hope your grandkids stay safe.

Debbie Boerger's avatar

We've asked them to be careful. The youngest boy has a girlfriend down in the Twin Cities. Bet my grandparents were feeling the same knowing I was protesting against Viet Nam in the 60's and early 70's and a civil rights activist in Mississippi. I know Minnesotans will continue to protest.

Susan Stone's avatar

Ah, the Vietnam was protests. I remember them well. And on my college campus, protests daily for Cesar Chavez - and the United Farm workers. I'm glad to know Minnesotans are courageous.

Eleanor Duffield's avatar

Convince Republicans in the House and the Senate.

Judy CZUBATI's avatar

They are useless. So many actual cowards. Caring only about their great benefits and those LONG paid vacations they get. Those “oaths” meant absolutely nothing. Nothing. Why vote for them..really? Why?

Ted H.'s avatar

Why yote for "them?" Don't yote for them >>> Vote them out! Vote! Vote, because it matters. Non-voters maybe/are the reason we are where we are; under Trump and his unqualified appointees to run the government (except into the ground.) Vote! If you do not VOTE you have no right to complain, and every reason to expect “more of the same!” and worse. What is your choice?

Bill Katz's avatar

Yes you are correct but most politicians in general are cowards.

Judy CZUBATI's avatar

“Money for nothing and their chicks for free.”

Judy CZUBATI's avatar

EXACTLY WHAT DEAR LEADER WANTS. SO OBVIOUS.

SweetieP's avatar

It's not just the masks! They roam in packs of 10 or 12, and when they accost people, they all jump on them together and brutalize people. They spray people randomly with pepper spray for no reason, they just walk up to them and start spraying. They roam around into placing and walk up like Gestapo to people and ask for their documents? It's like NAZI Germany. They grab them and drag them away in handcuffs and no one knows where they are going or even why they are going. It's the most horrible thing to watch on TV. It makes me want to cry. It's frightening. I would be afraid to leave the house if I wasn't white. I would be afraid to protest and that they might knock me to the ground and break my bones because I"m old. What is going on with our country. People need to be protected, not just them but us, the protestors. It's not even safe to protest. They threaten you and video your face and learn where you live. They try to scare you. I just can't believe that there aren't thousands of lawsuits. And where are the lawyers - why aren't they helping these people get paid back for being attacked and having their cars damaged. What the hell?

Pam Birkenfeld's avatar

It’s the brutality that is horrendous, on purpose, to create fear.

Noorillah's avatar

And for them to have a little fun...

Terry Westby's avatar

And the greater maga audience. They think they are watching a show that has no personal repercussions. It almost makes you wish they would bust into a maga household and shoot someone. We have to work hard to maintain our values.

Judy CZUBATI's avatar

Dear Leader rules by assaulting HOPE.

TS's avatar

It's not like NAZI Germany: Nazis liked Germans. It's enemies and rebels they didn't like. Our thugs hate everybody.

LiverpoolFCfan's avatar

Um. Nazis did not like Germans who were Jewish, dissidents, or homosexual. These citizens were all sent to the death camps.

TS's avatar

Yes. Those were the people they "othered." When Germans applied for identification papers, for example, they had to list four German grandparents. Those who could, they liked. My point is that the set of people whom our thugs "like" is pretty much, "other thugs." Not, for example, "Americans."

Judy CZUBATI's avatar

ICE is Trump’s version of NAZI Brownshirts-Storm Troopers. Roaming AMERICAN streets. It is truly insane.

Bill Katz's avatar

Judy, they laugh at this suggestion. It’s a bage off honor for a MAGA to be called a Nazi.

Judy CZUBATI's avatar

Bet they all have similar white nationalist tattoos like Peter Peter Pumpkin Eaters

Nancy Bainter's avatar

This is not the wild west of Zorro fame. NO ONE SHOULD WEAR A MASK except for people with colds or in the hospital and at Hallowe’en.

RTN's avatar

There's an irony. Most of these fake 'police' who are now cosplay trotting around all masked up and looking like muppets and sock puppets were probably the 'tough guys' refusing to wear a mask during covid. The incel strain runs deep in these traitors.

Judy CZUBATI's avatar

Many of them are Trump’s personal militia. The pardoned insurrectionists got the job.

Terry Westby's avatar

They wear a mask and spread their disease.

dee's avatar

Yes Nancy...these are the same people..I would bet..that were anti-maskers...

Bullies and cowards!!

Nancy Bainter's avatar

true, and NOT officers because the ICE workers have not been trained nor have they been continuously training.

Merrill's avatar

Trump, the bobbing and weaving wiley politician, and his carefully selected fascist administration is aggressively at war with America. Who knows why? And who knows why a single American supports Trump's fantasical obsessions.

In our country, the America we know and love, there is one threat. It's POTUS himself. POTUS with his secret, federal police/soldiers Is the real threat to America. His perverse behavior will turn all of us into collateral damage until he is stopped. And he must be stopped.

Mark Shields's avatar

Necessary but not sufficient to remove a tyrant.

He has been replacing the last facade of American democracy with a family branded plutocratic oligarchy.

Need to depose more, even, than just him AND his crooked cabinet and many sycophantic appointees. Need to understand that a person like him (or worse, smarter & younger) is the end game of the rapidly accelerating concentration of power in the US AND ABROAD.

There’s too few with way too much.

One cannot have both billionaires (or multi-billion-dollar privately held corporations) and a democracy operating in the same power realm. (It is questionable if one can even have centi-millionaires, depending on the strength of regulatory institutions.)

Once power has the power to buy the levers of power (the instruments of government & attention control) both meritocracy and democracy are dead.

This is the fruit of the failed regulation of the first movers on the friction-free highway of information commerce in the attention economy.

Judy CZUBATI's avatar

Dark money has already purchased much of the MSM.

patricia's avatar

Merrill, truump is a threat... but don't forget the sadly huge number of americans who are also a threat to this once proud country by their voting practices.

The syncopates and enablers are traitors. RED RUSSIAN REPUBLICAN PARTY is killing America off from the INSIDE. A raging infection.

Peggy McAloon's avatar

No…and the word “Police” on their uniforms should be replaced with ICE Agent. We teach our kids and grandkids to trust the police. These masked marauders are NOT police!

James Coyle's avatar

Excellent suggestion.

Noorillah's avatar

Or "Hired Assassin" ?

Judy CZUBATI's avatar

SS Troops. What was their uniform like?

Deb Pierce McCabe's avatar

NO they can't wear masks! ICE has become ISIS, a domestic terrorist organization (credit to Kris and Dave for that comparison). But it offends me more than I can say to have them use the image of Uncle Sam to recruit them. The Uncle Sam image should be used to recruit people to RESIST ICE. 😡

JK's avatar

Just as the Wicked Witch -- MELT ICE

Laurie Dhandapani's avatar

And all her flying monkeys!

Lionel Atwill's avatar

Joyce, there is another side to the mask issue that is not anonymity. It is the terror side. Spec Ops has known this for a long time. Assault someone looking like an automatons, and you are an abstract terror, not a human. I know this.

SweetieP's avatar

Also, I think they are masked because they are Proud Boys and Oath Keepers and Three Percenters and that is exactly why Noem hired them and that's what she agreed to do so they would not be recognized. We must find out who they are and what their backgrounds are. We must investigate this. Don't be fooled, there is a REASON for the masks and it is a nefarious reason. They are covered because the DO have something to hide. Why are our politicians and media so darn stupid not to suspect and expose what is going on here.

John A. Steenbergen's avatar

Trump and Stephen Miller are psychopaths (not stupid, even though Trump is suffering from cognitive impairment), and all the psychopaths and sociopaths in our country who are not currently in jail recognize that Trump and Miller are part of their tribe so many if not most are eagerly joining the Trump party and/or ICE. Most of the Republican politicians (Tuberville, Gohmert and Boebert excepted) are not stupid, but they have either joined the Trump cult or are afraid to offend Trump. Their fears of being primaried, swatted, and/or killed by one of his sociopathic followers are not irrational.

Phil De Luca's avatar

agree 100%. Noem and Trump easily drew upon the 1500 that he pardoned. They will do whatever he wants. and they know he will pardon them again. the PROUD BOYS; Oath Keepers and 3 Percenters are Roger Stone's private gestapo/soldiers. Trump let's Roger know what he needs done and BINGO it is done. burn a judge's house down. DONE. Get someone inside the prison and make Epstein disappear and not testify. BINGO.

The hierarchy of how Don Corleone Trump works:

Mafia (Trump/Hierarchy (Top to Bottom)

Boss (Don/Godfather): TRUMP--The head of the family, making final decisions and taking a cut from all operations.

Underboss: ROGER STONE:The second-in-command, often handling daily operations or major rackets.

Consigliere (Counselor): STEVE MILLER An advisor and confidant to the boss, acting as a mediator and representative, but not directly commanding soldiers.

Caporegime (Capo/Captain): NOEM; Kash Petal; Pam Blondie; Leads a crew (regime) of soldiers and associates, collecting money from them for the hierarchy.

Soldier (Soldato/Made Man): the 1500 Pardoned; Proud Boys; Oath Keepers; 3 Percenters. An inducted, full member who takes an oath (omertà) and carries out orders.

Associate: Judge Cannon; Alito; Thomas; Gorsuch; Kavanaugh; Pirro; Jim Jordan; Comer; and entire cabinet.

Non-initiated individuals who work under soldiers or capos, paying them a share of their illegal earnings.

The Don (Trump)tells his Under Boss (Roger Stone) who tells the soldiers what to do. Many times Stone will bypass the consigliari and the capos and go directly to the soldiers who are immune from prison due to the DON's ability to PARDON any and all crimes.

Judy CZUBATI's avatar

Many of them are the insurrectionists the Mad King pardoned..specifically for this purpose.

Lor's avatar

Criminals. The Jan 6 perpetrators of crimes against the capitol are also apparently part of ice. Defund secret police and the irresponsible 🧊. Make the app available for everyone. The guilty are everywhere.

Judy CZUBATI's avatar

Mad King Dong pardoned the criminals specifically for this…his private militia..

Pamela Payne's avatar

No masks!! They obviously are afraid or ashamed about their actions, which should tell them something!!

Allan L’Etoile's avatar

Dems will soon have their chance to unmask the ICE cowards. As part of their negotiations in upcoming budget battle, they must refuse to agree to any deal that does not include an enforceable way of making agents’ faces visible and their identities known. If Republicans won’t agree to that, the government shuts down, again, and, again, republicans lose. If Republicans can’t agree that accountability matters — on this score, at least — they deserve to lose.

patricia's avatar

time to shut the coup gov down...it is the #1 thing dems can do

Andrea RIfelli's avatar

Did we ever see any evidence that any of them were actually doxxed? I don't think so. The RW zealots are the ones who are most likely to doxx or swat people who've offended them. We're out in the streets, showing our faces while we protest, without weapons, and we're the ones getting hassled (or killed). None of them have so much as broken a nail.

Terry Westby's avatar

They would just dox each other and then blame us

Peter Bergé's avatar

Any time Trump or his gang makes disparaging remarks about a judge (usually, but not always federal) those jurists, their families and sometimes even those around them such as law clerks receive threats of violence and death, and sometimes are doxed.

Do the judges who this administration places in danger wear masks? No. If they can manage to do their jobs while showing their names and faces to criminals and to the public every day, these over-armed and over-armored testosterone-soaked thugs can manage to do that as well.

They should also have their ID numbers clearly visible in (at least) one-inch-high numbers on their chest, back and each shoulder, wear and USE body cams, and face criminal penalties if the don't have the former and don't use the latter. Obviously, qualified immunity should be sharply curtailed so they do not have protection when they brazenly and recklessly violate people's rights or break state and local laws.

Bill Katz's avatar

I agree. I can’t say what I would like to see happen to these punks. But you can be sure it’s not bringing them piping hot pizzas.

Peter Bergé's avatar

I'm convinced, though, that part of the motivation for hiring these loose cannons, allowing them to remain anonymous and encouraging their aggressions is to PROVOKE people into (justifiably) protecting themselves. When I heard about a squad of them repelling down the walls of a building at night and breaking into apartments and such, I was surprised that they all survived that. It would've been entirely understandable (including by juries) if some folks had reacted appropriately and used lethal force to defend themselves from apparent home invaders.

However, that is EXACTLY what Trump wants: a few examples of violence to provide an excuse for invoking the Insurrection Act and all that might follow.

Bill Katz's avatar

I know. But how much do we suffer.

Judy CZUBATI's avatar

We suffer as much as the Mad King desires we do so.

Ted H.'s avatar

How about bring them warm Pizzas in prison?

Bill Katz's avatar

Yes and sprinkled with hemlock and oregano.
