Monday Is for Chickens
We’ve had pretty constant rain here, and although the chickens like the easy scratching and bugs the moisture draws to the surface, they’re not huge fans of getting caught outside of their spacious run in a downpour. So they’re (you’ll pardon the pun) cooped-up, and a wee bit cantankerous.
The rain doesn’t make for great photography, either, but I managed to get a few snaps during an intermission in the wet this morning.
The chickens don’t know it yet, but before too long it will be time for me to temporarily relocate them—I’ll put one of our two coops underneath the back deck in a lovely, sheltered area with some herbs and blackberries nearby—while I take down the old coop and prep that area for the new one we’ll put up this spring. I’m hoping this doesn’t upset egg production too much, but it’s sure to be an adventure!
Hope your Monday featured better weather than mine.

“Madder than a wet hen”.......comes to mind!
Thank you for this lighter note. I think we all need it.
Love these pictures! Especially Harry-I’m a bit intimidated by that stare...maybe hurry with his eggs !! 🤣
