These are data that we as citizens are compelled by law to provide for very specific purposes, and the government is compelled by law to protect. It is our personal data, it does not belong to the government and it is not available to be used for other purposes. These data in the hands of the government has always been a confidentiality concern, now the wanton sharing of these data among agencies, with DOGE and potentially many other entities raises significant privacy concerns.
How can the Supreme Court ignore the rights of citizens in this regard? What recourse do citizens have? I filed a FOIA with DOGE in March and have not had any response, nor sadly do I expect to. Should citizens file an action? What can we do?

Yep, as a physician myself, I'm deeply disturbed about the defunding of public health from multiple angles.
The conversation between two of you together was so valuable and inspiring! More please! A question that keeps hounding me, though perhaps it doesn't matter, is: what rationale do people like J.D. Vance, Marco Rubio, et.al., give (if only to themselves) for trying to overthrow, for example, the rule of law and free & fair elections? Do they say "The country has been captured by the liberals with whom we don't agree and we must take it back by any means" or "we have to put a stop to the godlessness of this country because Christianity is more important than individual liberty" or "we have to attack the laws of the land to undermine elections because if everyone is free to vote, we will never have a chance". So, J.D. Vance has a law degree from Harvard: what does it mean when he makes so many false/totally incorrect statements about the law, as though he is ignorant of the basics? My ability to empathize with the red people is hampered by not being able to answer these questions...
This combination of Joyce Vance (already a favorite) and Kim Scheppele is dynamic. Their presentation is extremely well reasoned and very clearly presented, never over the top, redundant, or overstated. I am sharing it everywhere. The thoughtful academic approach is so right on and thus is truly revealing of how concerned we should all be.
