Happy Thanksgiving 2025!

That gratuitous peck at the end of the video! Please mind your manners better than Omeletta when you head out today.

Wishing everyone a good Thanksgiving, however you are spending it. There are so many conflicting emotions in this moment, but I continue to think that taking some time for ourselves, enjoying what is good in our lives, is one of the most powerful forms of resistance.

Bob and I spent last night drinking champagne with good friends, and I woke up thinking about how the most important thing is the people you’re surrounded by and all of the love. And especially, as we prepare to face the challenges ahead, I’m incredibly grateful for all of you.

Because it wouldn’t be Thanksgiving without them (and no, they’re not on the menu!), here are more chicken pictures.

Every knows which chicken is in charge. It’s always Red.

It’s ridiculous to be this beautiful and I could swear Red understands what a camera is and poses.

Esther is my sweet girl and something of a lap chicken but she’s seriously focused here on what to eat next.

Oh, and, fun chicken fact. If the kids leave the composter open, some silly chicken will come along and make a nest in it.

Pumpkin is the last of our Silkies. She was one of our original chickens, and sadly, they’ve started to age out. I adore her—I have croissants heating up for her in the oven right now, so we can spend some quality time together.

Bella was also with us, but she said “No Thanks” to the kiwis.

Happy Thanksgiving! We’re going to do a lot of work together in the next year and make Thanksgiving 2026 a satisfying, happy moment for all of us.

We’re in this together,

Joyce
