We celebrated this morning with popcorn, the chickens and me.
We believe in celebrating the good things in life here. A brisk, but beautiful winter morning. A fire in the fire pit. Plenty of popcorn. Even with the challenges we will face this year, it was a morning worth celebrating.
Leeda was the big winner. She managed to make off with more than her share of the goodies.
It was beautiful today, but between the cold, the rain, and the marauding chickens, there’s not much going on in the garden. The herbs have been gnawed down to the ground and except for a little bit of salad lettuce I’ve covered with a screen, the chickens have feasted on everything they care to claim as theirs in the yard. But they went out patrolling after the popcorn was all gone, anyhow.
They’re such good company for my morning thinking and they do look pretty now that they’re done molting! I appreciate the example of their industriousness, which I know I’m going to need to stay on track this year.
2024 is going to be quite a year, but I’m grateful for today’s good start. Tomorrow is for getting back into the swing of things. But it was important to have one more day of calm and fun with friends and family before the work begins again.
We’re in this together,
Joyce
I have need to repeat that please call, write, email the president and beg him to start a Fireside Chat. We are going to lose this election. Biden doesn’t understand PR. FDR’s Fireside Chats in the 1930s proved to be successful. Please make this a weekly or biweekly chore. I’m doing mine tomorrow. If millions of us Americans push on this request, it will get through.
I love the chicken pictures and your commentary. Celebrations are very good things and cold weather can help keep your head clear.
