If you need something to listen to on your Thanksgiving travels, I had the absolute pleasure of joining Terry Gross, one of the hosts of NPR‘s Fresh Air, for a chat about current events and my book, Giving Up Is Unforgivable.
I turned on my local NPR station, which happens to be WHYY where Fresh Air originates, as I got in the car last night, and was thrilled to hear your voice! And Terri Gross is one of my heroes. The Georgia racketeering case shows the true farce of American justice. First the prosecutor was forced out, then a replacement was brought in, and almost immediately the charges were dismissed. What had been billed as a sweeping accountability effort collapsed into procedural maneuvering and political convenience. Fire one, install another, dismiss the case… and the machinery of justice grinds to a halt. It is exactly what I have been writing about: when shamelessness pays dividends, it spreads, and American justice reveals itself as spectacle rather than substance.
Me too, Amy, yesterday afternoon unexpectedly on WAMU, except it was the very last part, which was terrific! Tomorrow on my way to and from the church 22 miles from my home where I'll be delivering Thanksgiving meals to families who need or want them that way. Perfect this year that I can listen in the car, as typically I work in the kitchen plus help serve the folks who come for our sit-down Thanksgiving meal!
On Sunday, I read Joyce's "Sunday Morning" piece and wondered if Joyce would ever be on "Fresh Air" to talk about her work and book. On Tuesday morning, as usual, I was listening to my NPR station, WHYY where "Fresh Air" originates, and I heard the announcement that Joyce was going to be on "Fresh Air" that afternoon. I couldn't believe it! WHYY runs "Fresh Air" twice each day and I got to listen to it twice yesterday. It was an excellent presentation. It felt like a couple of friends sitting down at the kitchen table and chatting. It was great!
What a great conversation. Fresh Air is an excellent show for allowing a guest to spend time answering a question and you put that to good use. I’m so glad I caught it. Have a lovely Thanksgiving!

Really good--strong, clear--interview, Joyce. Terry should have you on the show regularly, although I recognize the "singing to the choir" problem with that. Actually, Fox should have you on THEIR platform regularly, in an attempt to educate people who sorely need it.
I admire many things about you, but one of them is how calm you stay while addressing issues and rulings that make me nearly hyperventilate. Maybe when you explain things like the blatant conflict of interest posted by Pam Bondi acting as AG, you have your "law professor" hat on; that'd be the only way I could keep from having a meltdown every time I talk about any of it. Have you avoided physical reactions to it all? It's given me afib and hypertension and who knows what all else yet to be discovered.
How about John Sauer submitting briefs to SCOTUS that have factual errors in them? Or are they errors? What if DOJ purposely wrote them to be misleading, knowing Sauer would just summarize their brief and sign off? There I go, hyperventilating again.
