My friend and colleague Neal Katyal is moving his popular podcast, Courtside, to Substack. I’m really excited about it for a couple of reasons. First, Neal is the most experienced Supreme Court practitioner I know. He has argued with experience on both the civil and criminal sides of the house. He’s appeared before the Court both on behalf of the government and as a lawyer in private practice representing clients.
The Court usually announces any remaining opinions during the last week of June, although it occasionally goes into July. That means the week ahead is going to be a big one, with important cases involving affirmative action and whether religious freedom can be used as a rationale for denying equal access to commercial services to gay people. It’s great to have Neal helping us navigate how the Court works, and how it’s supposed to work, during the unusual times we live in. You can find Courtside here.
Five Questions is a feature for paid subscribers only. The rest of my posts are available to free subscribers as well. I value having everyone here, but this is my way of thanking people who support my work financially, which lets me devote more time and resources to it.
