I was happy to see this ruling, especially as contrasted with the appalling ruling by the Supreme Court about ICE being allowed to racially profile as I believe the majority opinion phrased it, as a contributing factor.

What’s disturbing to me about the letter from Trump to Epstein is the shallow curves drawn for breasts, suggesting a young barely pubescent girl.

Susan Stone's avatar

Great point about the shallow curves, Sioux. I had not thought of that. It shows that trump knew perfectly well what his friend was up to, and in my opinion, that he participated, too.

Reader/Writer's avatar

I agree. A "principled" person would not put up with a "friend's" penchant for underage girls in sexual liaisons no matter how close the friendship. But we know that neither monster has any principles at all. He should be in prison.

Susan Stone's avatar

He definitely belongs in prison! A real one.

Bill Katz's avatar

The guillotine is a better option than prison in this case although it might be better to use a double blade in case the original blade is broken during the cut into thick membrane.

Danny Hoback's avatar

I understand the sentiment but let’s not descend to their level of hate.

JK's avatar

He--Trump--deserves whatever befalls him (think Mussolini)

Jade Theresa Robinson's avatar

Yes, think Mussolini. Please...

Lee Barnhart's avatar

Then what are we to do Nothing really has stopped this freight train to oligarch dictatorship or worse. The courts can only do so much. The military has not shown any push Bach. Federal law enforcement is emasculated and congress is a joke. So here we are possibly not even being allowed to vote in the next elections.

Eric Root's avatar

That was my impression too. It’s appalling, actually.

Susan Stone's avatar

Yes, it is appalling, especially to those of us who have endured sexual abuse of any sort.

Denise de la Vaux's avatar

No head, no arms, no legs…shallow curves likely that of a young girl’s breast and his signature which I believe is well, you know…grab them by the 🐱 That’s how those two monsters see both girls and women. Disgusting. 🤮

Reader/Writer's avatar

Then AND today. And beating 'em up is a simple fight and "shouldn't be a crime." That is who we have in our White House. A demented child molester and rapist and con man and all-around monster.

Denise de la Vaux's avatar

It made me wonder…how exactly did Ivana “fall” down the stairs?

Emily Pfaff's avatar

Denise,

I have thought of this often. Ivana was a great athlete in her younger days.

I have had the same question from the moment her death was announced.

Thank you for sharing your thought. It is good to know someone else had the same question.

Trump's daughter/family also spend a lot of time in Europe/Middle East. I wonder if this was made possible due to an inheritance from her mother.

These are just questions. If anyone would like to correct me, I will accept your opinion or facts.

Denise de la Vaux's avatar

It’s been written and repeated over and over that Jared Kushner, Ivanka’s husband, received a HUGE sum of money from the Saudis. I don’t know the details but I’m sure every member of that family has enough money, most of it dirty, to last a thousand lifetimes.

Stephen Brady's avatar

I read that in 'The Art of the Deal' he said he always gets revenge/retribution. Ivana sued him and won $14 million. Maybe he called up his buddy Vlad and he rid the Orange Menace of his troublesome Ex.

Denise de la Vaux's avatar

Nothing would surprise at this point. Also, I can’t believe her children were OK with burying her in one of his golf courses! 🤯

mary's avatar

I recall he was able to get a big property break on the golf course since it is now a burial ground. What a despicable person.

Jade Theresa Robinson's avatar

But I think t's kiddos are more like daddy than mom.

Stephen Brady's avatar

Imagine putting out a hit on your Ex and then getting a big break on your property taxes by burying her on your golf course and not even mowing the grave. It just goes to show the awful dynamics in this family.

Penny Goodstein's avatar

I never involve myself in conspiracy theories, but when I learned of the mode of her death I immediately thought "defenestration" and of Russia's penchant for doing that.

Denise de la Vaux's avatar

When I heard she died and how, I did not think twice about it other than it was very sad and I didn’t consider her that old. But now…I do wonder. You’re spot on I think. Instead of falling out of a window she fell down a flight of stairs…or so they say. Hmmm.

Al Keim's avatar

Considering the source the drawing shows an amazing ability to focus - at least on some things.

Ruthie's avatar

The drawing— combined with other things we know so far, suggests that their special Secret wasn’t just about trafficking and rape, but also about raping virgins.

Joanna Denis's avatar

My sense of the comment Trump wrote to Epstein, "Sells ‘fully depreciated’ [redacted] to Donald Trump for $22,500.” I also thought was about virgins no longer being virgins. The both of them, along with Maxwell, should all go to Dante's, "Seventh Circle of Hell" for what happened to thousands of girls. Their lives were stolen, that is clear. All these years later, they can't get beyond the trauma, and it's no wonder. The victims who were so brave to come forth on Capitol Hill last week deserve our support and respect. They were truly, and unwillingly, taking part in Sartre's, No Exit.

Michael Stayton's avatar

Maybe there should be an 'Eighth Circle'.

Joanna Denis's avatar

Perhaps so. As I recall about the Seventh Circle, it's a frozen center and the more one flaps one's arms, the colder it gets and the less likely those trapped can escape.

Noorillah's avatar

There are NINE levels in Dante's Inferno. The ninth is for the sin of treachery. It is a frozen lake, and all the traitors are frozen into the lake and unable to escape it. Kind of refreshingly relevant, ain't it?

Lee Barnhart's avatar

This silly. And what the dictatorship wants you to do Instead of figuring out how to stop it. Or have you just given up. What a waste of time and effort.

Claudia Ricci's avatar

oh my god, oh my god, what a notion, Ruthie, "RAPING VIRGINS," that could be his moniker...his Modus Operandi, and he is so so so so so so revolting...

also, I am offended by it to because even though I converted to Judaism after my third child was born in 1989, I am someone who prays day and even sometimes at night around the clock to the Virgin Mary because when I was in throes of cancer SHE got me through the miseries of chemo, radiation and the aftermath 20 plus years ago...

HIS not at all special not at all a SECRET he is revolting to me on my deepest levels

Lee Barnhart's avatar

So why are you going to do about it. ????????just talk.

Claudia Ricci's avatar

"What’s disturbing to me about the letter from Trump to Epstein is the shallow curves drawn for breasts, suggesting a young barely pubescent girl."

OH ugh, never realized this, thank you Sioux, oh but how unbelievably nauseating revolting disgusting that this would be DUMP THE DICK HEAD predator is/was/will try to go after children, young girls...

Betsy J. Miller's avatar

And signature placed to look like pubic hair. No accident. Sick.

Penny Goodstein's avatar

that "enigma" statement, and their "secret" points to their love of raping girls. I don't KNOW if Trump was involved in that aspect of Epstein's horror, but he sure knew about it.

Betsy J. Miller's avatar

Or how about his signature, placed like pubic hair?

Mike N.'s avatar

Could E Jean Carroll finally be the “David vs Goliath” we have been hoping for….

Reader/Writer's avatar

She justly deserves that David moniker... or maybe Davida.

Claudia Ricci's avatar

I like that idea a lot MIKE, a lot a lot

If there is a more reprehensible sub-human creature than Donald Trump, I would be flambuuzzled to learn of such a non-human. Genetics made an horrid mistake when it put together these amino-acids to create such a characterologic garbage pit. In Darwinian analyses, favorable mutations such as Trump should be precluded from reproduction. They would not be permitted on the Galapagos Islands or anywhere. One would think think eggs would run in horror when they see that sperm aimed in their direction if they could anticipate such calamity yet they continue to reproduce. The human species must somehow cull this genetic disaster. I wonder what the NIH could do to save humanity. ...but look at Bobby Kennedy, Jr.... clearly a genetic mistake. The US Supreme will, probably, not hear any sort of appeal. Trump must be sentenced to the dumpster of time. It will take a generation for America to recover from what he has done. I wish mighty strength to those he has harmed and to E. Jean Carroll, blessings and thanks for persisting.

Freddie Baudat's avatar

That’s quite the piece of prose! 🤣

Claudia Ricci's avatar

YES FERBIE I TOTALLY AGREE that whoever EB is, EB is a fantastic writer besides being MD/JD. And EB (what's with all these caps?) spins a great GENETIC TALE about why the likes of the depraved Bobby Kennedy, Jr.... "clearly a genetic mistake."

EB IS REALLY FUNNY, too, hey when things are this sick and awful we gotta keep laughin...

It's Come To This's avatar

But why list only his good points like that? 🤪

Reader/Writer's avatar

Brilliant analysis, EBO. MD and JD?! Wow, I am impressed. I loved those qualifications in an expert witness when I worked in court. With a witness with those qualifications, you'd know you had somebody special on the stand who wouldn't play games with the jury.

Purobi Phillips's avatar

Yes, quite a prose for eternity Dr. We should copy and paste it in every social media platform. This reading was delcious with my morning cup of coffee in my home in Rome. Thank you.

Claudia Ricci's avatar

oh my goodness, i just wrote my Substack column all about having investigation DUMPS, illegal hazardous waste garbage pits in Chicago when I was a youngster reporter eons back. And now here you come, EB, with this sentence I may ask to quote in my next column:

"If there is a more reprehensible sub-human creature than Donald Trump, I would be flambuuzzled to learn of such a non-human. Genetics made an horrid mistake when it put together these amino-acids to create such a characterologic garbage pit."

i was premed in the very old days so i studied human bio and all that stuff so i think you writing this is just HILARIOUS...you clearly took genetics but also what was that course, organic chemistry, which bizarrely, i really LOVED until i realized how much i loathe hospitals -- i like doctors, at least i like mine -- and recoil from bodily fluids namely blood...

EB DON'T KNOW WHERE YOU LIVE but when you write: "Trump must be sentenced to the dumpster of time. It will take a generation for America to recover from what he has done. I wish mighty strength to those he has harmed and to E. Jean Carroll, blessings and thanks for persisting." I am so so in agreement and my column today is all about how i feel entitled/qualified to call him the would-be DICTATOR DUMP because at age 27 at the Chicago Sun-Times I sparked a major investigation of toxic chemicals being dumped into the garbage pits of which you speak. HE BELONGS THERE FOR ALL TIME< YES < YES

Well said Dr Oppenheim.

We can only do our best to make sure we get the majority of Congress and happily boot him out at midterms.

Al Keim's avatar

All hail to E. Jean. The one American citizen to slap that fraud silly.

Cherae Stone's avatar

AFFIRMED, you sorry SOB!

Believe the women!!

E. Jean is a warrior and I absolutely love her! Knowing that she has her foundation all set up and ready to rock makes her triumph all the more delicious.

Thank you for elevating her victory. Every time I read this great good news from a different source I’m lifted a little higher. I’m only 4’11”, so I can use all the updrafts I can get!

Purobi Phillips's avatar

Do not count the eggs yet. We have two rapists acting as SC inJustices.

progwoman's avatar

I urge every young woman I speak with (and some older like myself) to read Not My Type. E. Jean Carroll is a remarkable human being, and she and her attorney, Robbie Kaplan, have prevailed once again.

Claudia Ricci's avatar

you may be 4 feet 11 in body but your spirit is clearly one that SOARS, Cherae, as does mine when I keep rereading all this GREAT GOOD NEWS about E. Jean Carroll sticking it to DICKHEAD DUMP for $83 million. Sign me up to help spread the word about E. Jean's foundation (my middle name Jean) GO GO E.J>>>>>>>>>>>>

Is the drawing a body of a young girl? That’s what I see.

Sioux Fleming's avatar

Me too and once I saw it I couldn’t unsee it.

Dale of Green Gables's avatar

Thank YOU Ms. Carroll for having the female equivalent of cojones and standing up to a wannabe tin-pot dictator and clear and present danger to the rule of law.

Pam Birkenfeld's avatar

Where are the young women protesting in the streets like we did for abortion rights in the early 70s? Don’t they realize the insidious nature of what is being taken from them as women? I am at a loss.

Gigi's avatar

Amen, Pam! Hopefully at the next No Kings rally in October—or even before—we start seeing the young people awake like we did in the 60’s and 70’s to what their future will be unless they put a stop to this felon and his runaway maladministration. I never thought I would be “a marchin anymore.”

Purobi Phillips's avatar

Busy watchingTikTok. I am flabbergasted.

Cyndi's avatar

Many are working multiple jobs seven days a week trying to pay rent. Others are modern day Phyllis Schlafly types, happy to take theirs regardless of others. The rest don't believe that their rights can be taken away because they have never seen a world that had done that.

Lor's avatar

Outstanding news for E. Jean and hopefully for women’s rights in general and specifically for reproductive healthcare. It’s all interconnected

Susan Stone's avatar

I have to add to the end of what you said, that if the Epstein case had been completed before trump was elected president, like back in Florida when Alex Acosta gave Epstein the sweetheart deal, we would never have had him as president. I am very glad that the second circuit has upheld. E. Jean's win. I just hope that the SCOTUS recognizes that the timing of the assault means they can't rule in trump's favor.

Parkin Hunter's avatar

And now trump says this:

“If a man has a little fight with the wife, they say, ‘This was a crime, see?’

Though this statement will not be admissible in the appeal, you can bet the Justices will be aware of it. Let’s hope they are human when they rule. Or better yet, not take the case and let the lower court ruling stand.

https://sg.news.yahoo.com/trump-questions-whether-having-little-162834910.html

Susan Stone's avatar

The court should NOT take the case because it concerns activities that long pre-dated trump's run for president.

Debbie Smith's avatar

You're so right, but judging the Court and its recent decision making in the shadow docket darkness, I would anticipate T will take the same course he's taken of late to achieve and get his desired absolution. Lower courts be damned.

Susan Stone's avatar

I anticipate the same.

Purobi Phillips's avatar

But they probably will. It is upside down world but we must fight.

Susan Stone's avatar

I agree with you. Experience teaches some of us what will happen.

Keith Wheelock's avatar

COULD A GREAT ROBERTS ROBBERY EXCUSE TRUMP FROM PAYING $83.3 MILLION?

if the Supine Court chooses to hear Trump’s appeal of the Second Circuit’s affirmation of a $83.3 Carroll case verdict—and then decides to lessen or over turn it, this will go down in history as the GREAT ROBERTS ROBBERY. There is absolutely no constitution basis for such a travesty.

It would be characterized with the 1857 Taney Court Dred Scott decision as two of the greatest travesties of constitutional law since America was founded. It would highlight that the current court’s ‘originality’ bent is shameless illegality (as many of us already know).

Chief Justice Roberts is concerned as to how the Roberts Court will be judged historically. In fact, it already is at the bottom of the barrel.

Maburl Schober's avatar

These Modern Day Taneys are writing themselves into history. I keep thinking with each decision they can't sink lower, and they sink lower. I have no respect whatsoever for the protectors of Trump and Project 2025.

Cyndi's avatar

He is now judged by many historians as worse than Taney.

Purobi Phillips's avatar

Did any of you read yesterday NY Times front page article about JPM Chase and how they financed Epstein even after he was found to be a pedophile? One of the editors commented that they are still digging. My normally calm husband got so perturbed that he sold all his holdings on chase right away and convinced me to start canceling my Chase visa.

Marlene Lerner-Bigley (CA)'s avatar

👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Parkin Hunter's avatar

People that want to protest need to protest at the Supreme Court with signs that say:

Trump: If a man has a little fight with the wife, they say, ‘This was a crime, see?’

It needs to be driven constantly into the consciousness of the Justices.

Laura McElroy's avatar

Even MAGA women won’t like that!

Jennifer Cohn's avatar

Love, love, love this Second Circuit affirmation!

Jo Burns's avatar

So happy for E.Jean. She has been carrying this weight a long time. AFFIRMED, says it all. Congratulations, Ms. Carroll! Receipts were shown in the card denial. It's been a good day. Sadly, pumpkinstein has won a few and am continually appalled at SCOTUS rulings. For ACB to stayed SCOTUS isn't political, is ludicrous!

Terri's avatar

It’s ridiculous that DT denies that this is not his signature. In what possible world or circumstance would someone else sign his name to a card to a personal friend. I wonder if there could be a non-biased party who can verify that the signature is authentic and in fact DT’s. I guess innocent until proven guilty?

I hope SCOTUS, the six, can for once, do the right thing and decline to take on or reverse the lower court’s decision for E. Jean Carroll. Will they ever do what’s right for the people again and follow the law rather than rule based on what they “want”, what outcome T or they would prefer?

Noorillah's avatar

Maybe for the good of their sinking reputations, they'll decide not to touch it with a forty foot pole.

Terri's avatar

I’ve decided to abandon hoping they will rule in an ethical way. That way if they ever do, I’ll be pleasantly surprised. 😊

Emily Pfaff's avatar

Terri Myers,

If anyone watches "the news" they have seen Trump's signature being written by Trump's very own hand, MANY TIMES and he, himself holding a signed document for all to witness.

He cannot get out of this...the facts are supported and evident to all.
